He had been in her office last year and was told there was nothing that they could see that was a problem. He knew there was a problem and tried to go to another dentist, but being young and not knowing how insurance works, the dentist he tried to go see told him they didn't take his insurance but they gave him an antibiotic to take. He took the meds and the issue went away, but it came back with a vengeance last Wednesday (5/29/19). He called Dr. Harper's office even though he really didn't want to, but at least he was an established patient. They didn't act as of there was any urgency and told him to come in at 11:00 Thursday morning. I got a call from that night saying they "forgot" Dr. Harper wouldn't be in the office until Monday. How do you forget that? I asked if they had a dentist that was on call in the event of an emergency and was told they did. I advised my son to go to an urgent care because he had trouble sleeping the night before because he was in pain. He went and they doctor at urgent care saw immediately that there was a serious issue and prescribed him a pain med and an antibiotic. At least this got something started, right? My son went to his appointment and with a very badly swollen face, they didn't see it as an emergency and didn't call the dentist that was on call for them. They made him an appointment for Monday and told him to come back. Friday morning he wakes up with his face even more swollen and now his eye is swollen almost shut as well. My sister took him to the emergency room where he was seen and they did a CAT scan. He was told that the infection was close to or already in his sinus cavity and if a clot formed and burst it could cause a serious problem...even death. The emergency room called around Beaumont to try to find an oral surgeon who could help my son, but there wasn't one available. Baptist Hospital immediately decided that he needed to go to Galveston where there was a surgeon available. As they were leaving Beaumont, I left Austin to meet them at Jennie Sealy Hospital. He was given IV antibiotics and pain meds and was watched over night, and to allow the swelling go down before surgery. He went into surgery Saturday morning. The surgeon pulled two molars and the wisdom tooth on the top right, and had to drain the infection. When he got back to his room he developed a black eye from the procedure because they had to do so much to the inside of his face. If my son was not living with my sister he may not have known how urgent it was to get somewhere to be seen. I went by Dr. Harper's office before I left Beaumont to get back to Austin. I gave them a piece of my mind. They didn't care about my son. They didn't care enough to get him the kind of help he needed when he needed it. As I was talking I made them look at the picture of my son from Thursday morning. I kept my composure all weekend because I had to take care of my son, but I let them have it in that office. Upon hearing that I went and chewed them out, my mother AND my mother-in-law both told me that they have had bad experiences with this office. Both said the treatment they have gotten was bad, with my mother-in-law saying they broke a crown on a tooth not once, but twice and one time she was in that office for six hours because of their incompetence. Find another dentist in Beaumont, this one is not worth the ink on her diploma and her staff sucks. They were whispering about me while I was standing just outside the window at the desk and I told them to just keep talking because nothing that they thought was as bad as what I think about them.

They made sure that I was comfortable in the setting, that all of my needs were taken care of, and then I felt sure about the diagnosis and where to go from there. However, lately we have some frustrations regarding our bills. My wife was given a quote regarding her implant last year. She did not have it done due to the amount needed. Early this year, she was given another quote since she was told that the tooth beside here vacant tooth might be the cause for her toothache as it started to lean towards it. However, because it was a necessity and due to the participation of the insurance as expressed in the quote, my wife paid the total amount of the procedure even though it has yet to be done January 20 in the amount of $1291.50 thinking that it is all that we have to pay. Then she was scheduled for the molding of the implant after a week or two. She went to the cashier to ask if there is any patient responsibility she has to pay and was said she's good. Then she got a call for about three weeks so that it will now be installed however she went there 1 week after the call due to the availability of her time. She again went back to the cashier to ask if she must pay anything but was told she is good. Then March came and we received a bill that the insurance has paid their share and we must pay $1185.20. We were so shocked on how big the balance is. We tried to call but no one responded so we left a voicemail. Perhaps, of the COVID lock downs. We understand. Then came Monday of this week; since we did not expect the call, we were not able to pick up. Yesterday we called back, no one answered but left a voicemail. Earlier today, they called, and I picked up. I asked them why? The person told me that the insurance did not cover a certain amount because the lost teeth that had the bridge on had been extracted long before. The insurance only covers if the tooth was extracted by the time we are in that insurance. With this situation, we told them that it was not our fault since they are the only one who knows about the policies of the insurances and they are even network with that insurance. If there must be somebody to pay for this, it would be the cashier of this dental clinic or the insurance agent whom the cashier happens to talk or quote with. Else they will forego this bill since this is clearly not the patient's fault and they always have buffer funds to fill in with. If this is the case, any clinic can make these quotes just to have the procedure done especially if it entails a lot of money neglecting their patients. We have been good patients to them, and we are paying our bills on time despite we need to spend our money on some other expenses. We even have just spent almost $3000 for the procedure of our 3-year-old baby who was referred by this clinic to look for a child dentist due to her cavities but was advised to have her teeth crowned through a hospital procedure by the child dentist. However, they really want us to pay for it and the least they can do is giving us a 30% discount in which we will still pay $800.00 and that still is a lot. If we could have known that this is going to happen to us, then we would not have the procedure done. We verified this matter with the insurance, and they said that the clinic should have discussed or noted with them about when the tooth was extracted so that they were able to give the right estimate or whether they cover them or not. So, with this, we are left still hanging in the air and we are looking forward to move up from this if this will not be settled.

I told…read morethe nurse practitioner that I was short of breath, had a cough, low fever, fatigue, loss of taste and smell. She told me I had a virus to go home. No tests were needed. I asked if she could order a chest X-ray and if I could get tested for covid-19 - or at least the flu. I tried to tell her I had recently took a flight to Miami, Florida to see family - but she cut me off, saying: my symptoms were not consistent with covid-19 & that she was not going to "waste a test on me". My husband and I were stunned at her response! She made me feel as if I was "acting" or "seeking attention". It was a HORRIBLE experience! The worst one I have ever had - To feel that sick & be treated so poorly by a medical professional. It's not right!!! In the end, she did order a chest X-ray, but did not do any other tests. She smugly told me that the x-ray was clear, "as she knew it would be". I went to work the next few days - I'm a high school teacher. Four days later my husband had to rush me to the hospital b/c I could not breath. I tested positive for influenza A, influenza B, Epstein Barr - & COVID-19! I was sent to Houston and hospitalized immediately. My husband had to contact the school. By God's grace, none of my students tested positive for covid-19. Hindsight is 20/20. I should have questioned her... gone to Beaumont for another opinion. But I trusted her b/c she is a medical professional! I've debated writing this review. I live in Mauriceville. My children have grown up here & I love my small town. My PCP is in Orange, my dentist in Vidor. So I did not want to cause problems. However, the lady that treated me should be aware that she was dead wrong & that her negligence could have caused an unimaginable amount of repercussions!! I could have died, leaving my husband and children alone. I could have infected all of my 157 students. I could have infected my family, friends... So many things could have happened. If she was tired, she should have gone home! It is my hope that the correct people read this review & that steps are taken so that this situation NEVER happens again!!!

Dr. Son was very understanding and helped me better understand what was going on with my teeth! Obviously i didn't go to school to read dental xrays so it's always been confusing when drs just talk about the xrays and not actually SHOW me what's going on. He understood my anxiety about surgery and was very helpful letting me know they have oral sedation to alleviate my stress.
