Well, I just had to Yelp review him last I exam that he so thoughtfully focused time with, and what I ended up with is the best vision I've had in years. You know, it's always been exceptionally better than my older Prescription that I was in the office to improve upon, but this last one which was fine tuned this October 2020 is by far the best one I've ever had. The ladies at Family Optometry, Miss Joanne the optometrist who helps Dr. Middleton with feeding the patients glasses by adjusting, cleaning, and generally spending her time with me consulting me on any questions or concerns I might have. This is Golden, because I know she's really busy, but hands-down she always takes the time with me like I'm the only one on the planet in that moment, and she's all there for me. She complements Dr. Middleton in this way, Because they're both very similar in their style and grace with regards to each of the patient, especially me of course! Giggle, giggle... I wish people would come see Dr. Milton, and just try him, and the morning practice out, And trust me you will not regret it. It starts out as a simple inquiry most likely will turn into signing up as a new patient with him. Suzanne sits in the front and she greets The clients coming in, And her smile is A definite showstopper. In this world today we all could use a little more friendly and inviting attitude. If there is an issue that she can't fully take care of, she'll recommend you to a specialist. She and her staff have adjusted to working with the new COVID-19 requirements and have made their office into a place that both their patients and themselves can feel safe and as protected as possible. From the nicely designed and installed plexiglass barrier at the counter, their new scrubs which feature a campaign-style button of each of them showing their smiling face (since we can't actually see their faces - nice detail), to the placards stating that spaces are sanitized, to their careful admittance procedure of temperature taking and hand sanitizing for each of us - all so well done. After spending years going to an ophthalmologist, thinking that they would be superior, I highly recommend Dr Shadid and her staff for your eye care needs.

He spent a good amount of time discussing my prescription with me. Also, he's got the latest in computerized optical diagnostic tools. If you want scans and photos using all of these newer devices, it costs an extra $80 to get all the tests done (beyond the normal exam price) so a complete exam with scans and photos is around $160 but this is a bargain. I think he's an excellent doctor and a very good deal, pricewise. Also, you can usually schedule an appointment within a few days, you don't have to wait weeks.

When I arrived at my appointment 4 weeks later, I was informed that SR Costco does not take my insurance which is VSP, pretty common insurance! I figured would give Target optical in SR shot to see if they would be able to see me. I knew it would be a long shot but as I said I am from Ukiah and did want to waste the drive and really needed to renew my contact prescription which had expired right at the beginning of the pandemic. My other option and the least favorite option was to drive to the Bay Area to see my old optometrist. When I arrived at SR Target I explained my situation to the Optical office Manager and she went to check with Dr. Lee to see if he would be able to give me an exam. Looong story short, he did! Dr.Lee is amazing I had a great conversation with him in the exam room. Not only is he professional, knowledgeable, but he's also personable, energetic, and has a great sense of humor! And his staff has the same energy! I am a super fan of stellar customer service and because of that I will definitely return and make the 1-hour drive for my next appointment!

I went on Yelp and decided to make an appointment at this Target location. Dr. Lee was very energetic and thorough. He explained every step of the process. The basic exam included testing my existing glasses, vision test, visual examination of the cornea, peripheral vision test, and a glaucoma test. I opted to go for the retinal scan which was an extra amount but at my age, it's worth it. Dr. Lee has a state of the art machine that doesn't require dilating the eyes. It takes a digital picture of the retina and the optic nerve. He took the time to explain the health of my eyes. The basic eye exam here was $104 less than Kaiser and even with the extra charge for the retinal scan, it was still $65 less than Kaiser's basic exam. I highly recommend Dr. Lee!

I picked out very simple frames, made no indication I wanted a particular frame, we ended up paying several thousand dollars for 3 pair of glasses, this is more than double what we paid last time at a shop in the Seattle area. The glasses work ok not great, mine were suppose to help me work and allow me to see 3 computer monitors at different distances, I can only see 2 in the new glasses (I can still see all 3 when I squint in the old glasses). I was suppose to get 2 pair but the sales person looked at the prescription and said "I only need one" , yes, she overrode the doctor. I would have made more of a deal about it but when I heard the price my brain became preoccupied with do we accept this exorbitant price or deal without glasses for another several months. To be clear I rate the doctor 4 stars and the used car/glasses shop out front zero stars. The 3 star rating was an attempt at averaging.

With my…read moreprevious job I had Kaiser for my vision insurance but now I have VSP with my current employer and this felt like a much quicker process and more personal experience. I had set an appointment over the phone to get fitted for contacts. Earlier in the week I already had an eye exam elsewhere so I came in with my prescription ready in hand. After filling out my paperwork I met with Dr. Harris who is probably one of the most personable doctors I have met. During my appointment he explained about using math with my eye measurements to determine the sizing contacts and types of contacts I would need for my eyes. I hadn't used contacts in almost 10 years but putting them in came back to me easily, like riding a bicycle. He reminded me of the do's and don'ts about wearing them in relation to my job and lifestyle and even said I was a good candidate for lasik surgery which that option was never offered to me before. I enjoyed my visit here, all the staff was really nice and on top of that my contacts I had ordered have a $75 rebate (basically 55% off) which they submitted the rebate for me, so I ended up saving a bunch of money by coming here.
