My dear friend, who is a regular at Michael Christopher booked me a manicure and pedicure while I was visiting and it didn't disappoint! Upon check-in, I was given a lovely tour of the salon before meeting Ashley, who took phenomenal care of me! I usually get a gel pedi and even though that's not what I was booked for, she reiterated that she was happy to make it happen, which she did. She was very attentive for both and I was pleased with the outcome! I had mentioned a previous manicure that had been poorly done and she was very observant to what I had said and ensured I was happy with the shape and length of my nails. After a year of avoiding salons during the pandemic, my hair desperately needed some love. Michael Christopher salon was the perfect place! Upon arrival I was given a tour of the entire facility. They had to show me the ladies room twice so I wouldn't get lost lol. The place is ginormous. They do all kinds of services, everything you would want in a spa. They are an Aveda salon and have tons of great product. After my tour, Julia came and transformed my hair. I wanted highlights and a good cut and styling. And Julia did her magic! As you can see from the photos, the outcome is really nice. I will be 60 this year but you would never know it from my hair! When it was all done, I got tons of coupons and booked my next service. That gave me a discount too! I have found my new home for hair, skin, nails, and everything else in Cleveland! And I can't wait to see Julia again because she's just a very cool person. Worst haircut of my life. Like butchered basically. It looks like a Pinterest Fail. A bad Nailed It hair episode. I was put with stylist Kary when I was asked what I wanted ( I had never been there before). I have waist length hair and I wanted to get a hair cut and an undercut (where they shave a part of your hair as a design on the back of your head to lessen the amount of hair you have.) The salon is beautiful and the front desk was so nice. Kary, however, didn't smile and hardly spoke to me. She was supposed to specialize in precision women haircuts and I saw her cutting a guys hair right before so I thought this was a safe idea. She seemed like she was in a bad mood. I wanted a style for my waist length hair. She cut off the dead ends then did no more for that. But that's the least of the problems. I showed her a specific undercut I wanted. It was supposed to be a small portion of the hair on the back of my head. She looked at it for a couple of seconds then got to work. She never showed me how much she was cutting off before she did it. She never asked me what I liked about the style. I told her I wanted that exact style but she never asked what I liked about it or talked about what was doable. She shaved the back of my head but I couldn't tell what she was doing. When she finally, with a sour face, gave me a mirror to look at it, it was hard to see. I could tell it didn't look like what I wanted. The picture I showed her had 5 small waves with a fade up. This had no fade, was huge, and was 3 wonky, not at all straight blocks of hair. I asked her to put another line where there was clearly a giant space. She said she couldn't. It was exactly an hour after I sat down with her and I felt like she was done with me. I paid and went out to my car where my boyfriend looked at it and said I looked like a badly done NBA player. He took a picture of it and began to cry. It was AWFUL. She butchered the back of my head. It looked like a caricature of what I wanted. I went back in crying and they were very nice. Another stylist tried to fix it but honestly it was unfixable. I should have just asked to have it completely shaved, instead of the way they fixed it. I ended up going home to have my boyfriend shave the whole undercut. It's not even that its a bad design. I would be okay with that as they refunded me and I could regrow that hair easily. It's that she shaved a third of my hair off when it was supposed to be like 3 finger width of shaved hair. It will take me at least 3 to 6 months to grow my hair again to a point where it doesn't look absolutely insane. I will have to grow out a portion of the top of the undercut and basically have bangs on the back of my head during the summer. The salon was one of the nicest I've ever been in, but it took me years to grow out my hair and this lady ruined it in 1 hour. I luckily always had a lot of hair and the little she did leave is enough to cover the back. I went it for a transformation, a brave new haircut, and was with a sour uncaring stylist who ruined my hair. All I can do now is try to laugh about it while I spend the summer with my hair down. read more

Great experience from scheduling to checking out. Called to schedule 2 pedicures, and was able to get one on a Saturday afternoon 1.5 weeks from the day I called. Originally scheduled them to be back to back, but the lady at the front desk called the day of and offered to see if she could move another appointment so we could have ours at the same time. They have a really nice setup for "buddy" manicures where you're in these two private rooms that are opened up so you can sit together. The spa pedicure was very thorough, and I didn't feel rushed at all. They even have a back door by the pedicure area where you can waddle out in your pedicure flip flops to get right into your car. I thought the prices were very reasonable, and they have a new client special and were also running a promotion on the spa pedicure. Will be back! read more

I didn't even make it home before I left this review. I came in to see Liz for a full highlight, tone and blow dry. My goal was to lighten my current hair.. I didn't bring a picture for color or tone or anything. I told Liz what I envisioned and she talked me through what we would go with and it's maintenance. She did the highlight and their were the baby lights - hair terminology isn't my thing so bear with me... but when she toned me and drier my hair... I kid you not, I couldn't stop staring at myself. I have taken my toddler son for a haircut here a few times and had a decent experience with the stylists. The women at the front desk however were snobby and rude. Today was the second time I called to try to make an appointment for my 3 year old daughter, and I suppose a toddler haircut is too much of an inconvenience for this salon. They always say they are booked for the entire week. This happened around Easter and again this morning. I understand that salons get busy during certain times of the year but a toddler cut takes 5 minutes. Obviously the issue is that it's not a high cost service so it's not worth their time. This spa transitioned me from folically negligent student to sleek maned yuppie. Jamie worked with me to develop a fantastic color & cut-- edgy and fun for the weekends, but tame enough for business settings. Mad props to Jamie. I recommend her 150%. The client relations, though, were less than stellar. I was a regular at MCS for about a year and a half, but my last experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I decided not to go back. After booking my appt 4 weeks in advance -- because you can't get an appointment any sooner -- I got held up at work and was 45 minutes late for my appointment. I had called ahead and informed them of my tardiness. Instead of telling me then that I couldn't get a color treatment (which I was more interested in than the cut) they told me upon arrival, and then informed me that I would have to wait another 4 weeks before they could fit me in. They did not seem interested in working with me to find an alternative. They were unsympathetic and seemed to make no effort. They flat-out refused to give me the color to take to another saloon where my hair could be fit in for emergency attention. Bottom line: while the color and cut were great at MCS, the prices were high and I did not receive the required personal attention to justify that premium. read more

Went in for a cut for the first time and this is definitely going to be my regular place! When I set up the appointment, I was told my stylist would be Gilda, who was simply fantastic! She listened to what I wanted and what I was going for, and talked through some options with me to find something that suited my lifestye (i.e., will let me roll out of bed and get out the door with minimal fussing), hair type, and face shape. My hair looks so beautiful! She also mentioned some products I might like but was not at all pushy (which is good - most of the time I want to give them a try but my wallet begs me not too!). When I first arrived I filled out a new client form with basic information and got a tour of the facility - where the retail stuff was, where the snack and beverage table was located, where each of the services takes place (they have separate areas for color, manicures, pedicures, cutting, and washing), and where both bathrooms were. It was a nice touch that I've never gotten before. Once I was done and checked out, I also received a new member gift, a sample Aveda product and some coupons/complimentary services. I loved it so much I booked my touch up appointment in 8 weeks that day! read more

I've been going to MCS off and on for around 10 years or so. I'll go for the occasional eyebrow waxing, pedicure, and manicure. When I need professional make-up (and not the crap that I slather on myself) I'll go see Angela. She does most of the other services besides hair - waxing, facials, make-up, pedicures. I had a facial (no, not THAT kind of facial - har har) and spa pedicure with her a few days before I gave birth last year and it was pretty amazing. Very relaxing and just what I needed before the workout of my life. It's been years since I've had a haircut here so I can't say much from a personal experience in that regard. However, everytime I'm there I see some really hot looking haircuts. I will say this, they are pricey. I chalk that up to the products they use (Aveda) and because they really keep up on education. The ladies that work here are constantly going to training/education classes and really know their stuff when it comes to modern trends - if you're into that sort of thing. Another downside to MCS is that it can be hard to get an appointment at a moments notice. That's nearly impossible here. So be sure to call at least a month ahead of time to get in when you need to. read more

Had a manicure and pedicure here. I was rushed through both. Just after my pedicure started some came in and said they needed the chair I was in in 20 minutes. Needless to say they rushed my pedicure and a week later my heels felt like sandpaper. After spending a significant amount of money on products the front desk did not thank me for coming and started waiting on the person behind me. Been a regular at MCS for 10+ years, and I cannot say enough good things about it! I see Carly for my cuts and colors , and she is amazing and really takes the time to make you feel like you're a priority. I've had other stylists for blowdrys and updos, and have never had a bad service- Alex and Jamie are excellent too! Pedicures are hands down the best in town-bar none. They aren't cheap but so worth the cost. They offer buddy pedicures which allow you to have a private pedi experience with a friend- my favorite gift to everyone, always a hit! They do book up very quickly so I always schedule months in advance. I also try to go on Friday afternoons because the salon is fairly quiet and feels relaxing. Saturdays are super busy and I feel more rushed on those days, so I no longer schedule in that day. read more

Not the best salon I've ever been too. I came her on my birthday as my friend had recommended it. So as I first walked in the front desk staff was very sweet and got me settled in right away. When it was time for my appointment I went to the chair with my stylist and told her what I wanted. I had pretty dark hair at the time but I wanted to bleach my head and add in some lowlights/highlights to make it look more natural. I've bleached my hair before and I've never had a problem with it, so when my stylist said she couldn't bleach my whole head because it wouldn't get as light as I wanted I was kind of surprised. I've gone from black to blonde in one day without any issues but now this lady was telling me I couldn't so I was kind of confused. I settled for just adding in lowlights and she said with a few more visits I would achieve the look I wanted. (Seemed like a money grab to me but okay). After she foiled my hair and washed everything out it was time for them to dry it. Only instead of having someone else dry it for me I had to dry it myself. On my birthday. I was so confused. Another girl was sent to dry her own hair to and even her mom said that it was the weirdest thing she's ever encountered at a salon. I asked the lady at the desk why I had to dry my own and she said I hadn't paid for a blow dry....I've dyed my hair nearly a dozen times and I've never had to specifically request for my hair to be dried afterwards. Maybe I'm not as sophisticated as the rest of the people who go here but it was overall a very mediocre experience for me. I probably won't return. read more

I had to write this review. I had my very first pedicure at Michael Christopher. I also wish I hadn't because every pedicure after it hasn't met the standard that Michael Christopher Salon has set. I can't remember who did my pedicure. But it was extremely relaxing, thorough (especially with my callouses), and the pedicure lasted for over a month! I eventually took it off with nail polish remover! The hair care I've received there has been alright. Nothing crazy good but nothing terrible either. I feel a bit under dressed when I walk into this salon, but they do good work. I usually go to Jamie. She is personable and very talented and she knows just what you want! I have had slightly traumatic experiences there with waxing though. I was seated in a shampoo chair and the assistant did my eyebrows there. It was kind of embarrassing to have all the other patrons watching me. The result was a little redness (possibly a burn) that didn't go away for days. Having recently relocated to Cleveland, I was looking for a quality salon for my color and cuts. I was very pleased with Paulette and how she was able to get my slightly red hair to a golden blonde. It was exactly what I wanted. I had my hair cut by Christa and she did a pretty good job although there isn't much I do with cuts. Yes, it was a little pricey and since everything is localized, it got pricey tipping everyone. All in all, a good experience and i will be going back in six weeks for touch ups. read more

I haven't been to the salon itself, and I'm sure it's wonderful, but I just had to say something about the reception desk. I have been calling around hair salons for a place where my bridal party (which is only 4 people) can go get their hair done for my wedding in 3 months. When I called this place, the receptionist was very standoffish. She first said they already had appointments scheduled that day and could schedule us around them, "maybe." She also said I could not reserve the salon over the phone and I had to come in and fill out a form. I explained that I live 300 miles away and couldn't just drop in. I asked if she could email the form. No, she had to mail it, she said, sighing. Sorry to give you business and make you do your job, lady. I finally got the form a week later. The long-awaited form is: my name, address, wedding date and time, and names of my bridal party. REALLY. YOU COULDN'T FILL THIS OUT OVER THE PHONE WITH ME?! Anyway, all that to say -- they need a new receptionist. The form's in the trash. read more

I've been going to Michael Christopher Salon for about five years. I get my hair cut from Wendy and have an occasional manicure and pedicure. They do book up fast sometimes. I love my hair cuts from Wendy. She is so sweet, always does a great job, and is never scissor happy. Their hair cuts are a bit pricey, but well worth it and comparable to similar salons. The manicures and pedicures are reasonably priced. I've had good experiences there with all of the services I've had. The only issue is the front desk staff sometimes seems like I'm bothering them, but they could just be overwhelmed because it gets very busy in there. I made an appointment for a blow dry at the last minute to prepare for a staff photo. Whenever I've called, the front desk staff has been friendly and helpful, especially Monica. It's nice to be greeted by name each and every time and to be asked if I want anything to drink. Rachel did an outstanding job styling my hair. It's the first time I've seen her. She spent time asking how I style my hair and the products I usually use. I was very pleased with the results and received many compliments. Nadia is the stylist I see on a regular basis. She colors, cuts and does brush lights, which make me look youthful and lovely. I am pleased with aveda color and the products Nadia uses to style my hair. Carly is also an excellent stylist, who understands curly, coarse hair like I have. She's willing to try new styles, but makes good, practical suggestions. I came here for the first time for a cut and style and instantly fell in love with the salon and Rachel! Everyone on staff is so kind and helpful! From remembering my name when I came in for a color a few weeks after my first visit to offering to get me something to drink while I waited, I felt very welcome. As a first time client you also get a really nice gift bag, which is a perk. Scheduling has also been a breeze and have been able to schedule all of my appointments less than a week out, which is so amazing. Rachel has also been a great stylist and really listens to me and provides wonderful options to help me when I can't decide exactly what I want (which is almost all the time). She has done my hair for years from haircuts, hair color and she always did the best up-dos. They even have fabulous people that do your scheduling. Monica is always so sweet and pleasant. Don't go there! Customer services is bad, hair stylists are average, and the overal experience is below satisfactory. My hair color came out wrong. By worng I don't mean the shade, I mean the actual color. And I know this happens sometimes so I was ready to work with them on it. But they weren't! After moving to Cleveland several years ago, I tried several salons with results ranging from dissatisfaction to semi-satisfaction. Then I found Michael Christopher's Wilson Mills salon. I've been a customer for several years now and have never had a disappointing experience. I always walk out with shiny, well-cut hair and twice now, strangers have complimented my hair shortly as I ran errands after leaving the salon. The staff is friendly and professional and go out of their way to make each experience a positive one. Additionally, MC's text message appointment confirmations and reminders are very helpful to a busy client like me. Anytime I've needed to reschedule, even at the 11th hour, the MC staff has been helpful and courteous in finding a new time that will work for me. All in all, I highly recommend MC! read more
