Which clearly after checking I was able to save hundreds of dollars by going to another dentist. I was a newer patient at this office, this was my second time doing buisness with Brighton smiles. My previous dentist had moved out of state and that's why I initially came to this office as I seen great reviews. I came to get my tooth checked out as I seen it was chipped. I was told It would require a crown. After the scheduling for the crown, and paperwork came back it was going to cost a pretty significant amount of money even after insurance. So like anyone that's on a budget I decided to get a second opinion at the old dentist office I was at previously, and check out what the prices would be for the same job from the new dentist that took over. I was shocked to see the price difference between companies. My old dentist office was able to get me a stronger zirconia crown that has a 10 year warranty on the tooth for several hundred dollars cheaper then Brighton smiles for a typical crown. I gave Brighton smiles a call and asked if they could match the price and see if they warranty the tooth like my old office. I was informed that the prices are fixed and they don't provide any warranty on the tooth. I also asked about the crown itself to make sure we were comparing apples to apples on product of the crown. Their zirconia crown was more money then then the crown they originally quoted me for. In comparing the prices of a zirconia crown it would be several hundred dollars cheaper after insurance to go to my old dentist office. As well as a warranty for 10 years. I cancelled my apt with Susie at Brighton smiles as I was going the route to save money and get more bang for the buck going to my old dentist office. After the cancellation I got a call back from Brighton smiles telling me that Dr Spencer don't think it's a good choice that I come back, that I should just go do all my future dental work elsewhere!! I was very shocked at this as I have never met another professional company not carry integrity while competing in the market they are in with this attitude and pride. I understand a quality dentist costs money. However when other dentists can do the same job and be competitive in the market, I expected so much more from Brighton smiles then to be this pety. I decided not to write a review about this last week as I figured maybe Dr Spencer just had a bad day, however I check my mail today and to my suprise, Brighton smiles even made it official by sending me a written notice that they won't be doing any work for me in the future. I won't say anything bad about the work that gets done at this office as the ladies that worked on my teeth were kind and did quality work. However when a business fails at being professional to the customer and buckles the very first sign of anyone double checking the market on the cost of work, its very sad to see such a high ranked reviewed dentist act like this is high school. I have a hard time believing I am the first person that Dr Spencer has sent mail to to discontinue services based on "trusting her work". I am sorry but trust is earned!! Since Brighton smiles made it official to discontinue my service for going to get a second opinion, even giving them the chance to match the other dentistry apples to apples, here is to making it official on the professional character of Brighton smiles, 1 star.

I had a few questions which were answered promptly. The dental assistant remembered me from last time. She did a great job cleaning my teeth. She even had a trick to help my gag reflex when taking my x-rays. Dr. Medaugh came in and checked everything over. He answered some questions as well and I was on my way. They prescribed me a mouthwash and after…read more6 days the pain had only gotten worse and bonding I had on my front teeth was gone and I wondered if it was due to the mouthwash. I returned six days later addressing my concerns: pain I can't sleep through and the bonding that was gone. The hygienist confirmed that it wasn't the mouthwash that would strip the bonding and that they do bonding there. She also said they might need to perform x-rays that was not covered by insurance so they can see deeper into what the problem was but the doctor would talk about it with me. Dr. Medaugh looked at the problem area but still couldn't tell what would be causing it. He then started sneezing and told me I was wearing something he was allergic to - also that the bonding would be hard to do, no one notices it except me and that wasn't the reason I was there anyway. I didn't expect to do it that day, so he didn't need to be so dismissive. After he left the hygienist told me he is highly sensitive to scent and even though I didn't have perfume on that it must have been a hair product I had on - a small amount of dry shampoo from 3 hours earlier? She then opened the window and I sat there for long periods of time freezing. The doctor came back in and ultimately told the hygienist to do x-rays (he called it something different from what she told me about so I didn't think it was the non covered x-rays.) The x-rays were done, 5 minutes later the hygienist told me he still doesn't know what the problem was and I'm being referred elsewhere. As if this visit couldn't get any worse, I went to the front desk where 3 girls were sitting there and didn't even look up or acknowledge me - one of them was too busy texting on her cell phone. After a long silence one of them pushes the credit card machine to me and says "$205". I wished I would have been informed I was receiving the non covered x-rays but I paid without complaint. I continued to stand there to be directed on what action to do next... do I sign something ... am I done or what....? Several moments of silence later she told me I didn't need to sign anything, her way to signify I could leave - no thank you or have a nice day or any social politeness. Worst experience I've ever had at any doctor's office. Left feeling upset, still in pain and a referral to go elsewhere. The end result could have been the same but some niceties would go a long way!! The hygienists were nice, that's it.

However this was an awful experience due to Theresa. Theresa, one of the front desk ladies, was one of the rudest employees i've dealt with, period. 1) When i first scheduled the teeth cleaning appointment she insisted that I give out my social security number, which i didn't want to do. This is typically used to verify and follow up with payments. However, I have had issues with identity stolen in the past and don't want an issue with my identity being stolen in the future. I work in software and dental security systems are often not so secure. I asked if there was a way around this, she said yes as long as i verified my insurance beforehand. I did the extra legwork to provide proof of insurance and even called delta dental to verify. The insurance was verified and they gave me a sheet with available services and credits i had available before starting the cleaning. After the cleaning Theresa again asked for my social. I said no to which argued with me in office after my teeth cleaning, was yelling at me despite having verified insurance and had paid already. 2). She was the person i had scheduled my appointment with and neglected to mention they have a charge for PPE protection due to covid. Not a big deal, and i want to support small business especially in these times. The charge for ppe protection is $10. Which to me seems ridiculous especially because she didn't mention it beforehand. They're already charging my insurance over $100 why are they making a profit from masks? Do the math. If they see 1 patient an hour for 8 hours a day that's $80. A mask or set of masks isn't that much. I only came into contact with 3 people. So they're making extra money off their customers during this time? 3) The dentist provided me with a $15 thing of special toothpaste.She made a mistake and forgot to charge me for an item when I left from my teeth cleaning way back in the summer of 2020 (it's December 2020 now). She had been sending follow up mail to the wrong address and i only received a phone call today to pay for the toothpaste. During this time they had added $0.61 of finance charges. I asked for them to be removed, because of the principle. She said she would drop them and asked if i would just pay the $15. I said yes and gave my credit card information. She then said she was adding back the $0.61 to the bill. It's $0.61, and really doesn't matter at the end of the day, but the pettiness involved here is insane. Absolutely disgusting service.
