I wish I could give Micheal Anthony Property zero stars. First of when we moved in there was a problem with silver fish. When u turned the kitchen lights off you would come back and find a party like 20 of them. I asked if they could have something done. I was told I maybe brought them so I had to pay out of my pocket for this problem. We recently moved out. We cleaned the carpets. The fridge. I slaved over cleaning. After doing the walk through we were told everything looks great and we should receive our full deposit. I received the check yesterday. Short 225. 125 for maid service. And 100 for carpet cleaning. Like what the fk! We paid to have the carpets cleaned the day we moved out. And what maid service? I cleaned everything. Scrubbed with Clorox. We are clean people. We were told the place was like we just moved in. So why take the 225. This place is fraud. Damn thieves. And Hilda is very rude. They need to teach her some customer service. Worst property management company ever. Before we moved out we had our condo professionally cleaned including the carpets; after all, we did live there for almost 2 years. Yesterday, we received a call from the property manager saying we were only getting part of our deposit back. They are charging us $300 because they had to "clean" the condo and carpets. Hmmm. I had no major issues with this company. They were very quick to respond on any question I had regarding the property. I locked myself out twice (yes, I know, I am dumb) and they were nice to let me borrow an extra key with no problem- I heard other Property Managers charge you for it, I don't know. I was there for 2.5 years and only called them twice for a repair (at the beginning of the lease) and they fixed those things right away. So yeah, I said I had no major issues with this company, until... I moved out. I also didn't receive my full deposit back like many other yelpers. I spent hours and hours meticulously cleaning the condo- not that I had it all dirty while living there, I kept the place pretty clean throughout the 2.5 years (didnt destroy or alter anything either) and would shampoo the carpet to keep it fresh, and to make sure I left it in the same condition I walked in, or even better. I should have just saved the time and effort spent scrubbing the place 'til it bled. They still charged me for "cleaning" services although on the final walk through the property manager said, I quote, "everything looks great!" Flashback: when I moved in I asked the PM what I could do to get my money back at the end of my lease as I have had really bad experiences with other landlords/PMs in the past. She said "just make sure you write down all the details on the walk through list, and follow that when you leave to make sure you leave the place the way it was so you can get your full $ back"... that's what I did, yet I still got a chunk of my deposit taken away! I guess it's as if the rules had "changed" over the years and somehow I had to pay "interest." Yay! :( Other than that, they were pretty responsive, helpful and nice. And although I am disappointed about the whole deposit issue, I am not mad... I guess I am just numbed. Blah! I do recommend this business. They are very organized and pleasant. Just document eeeeeeeevery single thing. Also, if you want your full deposit back, write down a letter saying/stating what they said on getting your full $ back and have them sign it and follow exactly what the letter and check list says. Even if you do that, I doubt you will get your $ back. People in this kind of business always find little loop holes. read more

I am very surprised to see the poor reviews for Michael Anthony Property Management. The property we moved into was kind of old and needed some upgrades, but we got an incredible deal of $1350 a month for a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath townhome that is very large and has a nice sized patio with great amenities in college area. There service has been awesome since we moved in! We needed a lot of maintenance, there was mold and our dishwasher was completely broken. They immediately had someone get rid of the mold and got us a new dishwasher right away without charging us. They have also made some other small repairs here and there and are always very responsive. We usually hear back from them the next day offering a solution. I recommend using this company, they care about their customers and it feels good knowing that if something goes wrong they will be there to help. read more

Michael Anthony Property Services is the worst property management organization I have ever worked with. They represented the owner of the condo my husband and I rented for two years. Our main contact at Michael Anthony Property Services was Janine Bruno. Throughout our dealings with her, she proved to be unresponsive and showed little concern for both our well-being as renters and the well-being of the owner. As we terminated the lease and moved into a new condo, it came to the surface that Janine has misled both us and the owner. She convinced the owner to withhold $750 from our deposit after denying us a final walk through and refusing to notify us of any damages even after he sent her a specific email with the issues he encountered. She simply encouraged him to deduct money from our deposit and is now flatly lying about the situation. As we began to speak with the owner about the issues directly, we've found that she has been telling both parties different stories. I have never encountered such a dishonest, misleading, self-seeking property manager. I would strongly urge both renters and owners to avoid Michael Anthony Properties. They are unethical and sneaky! read more

Mike Brunnhoelzl and Michael Anthony Properties are unethical and should not be trusted with your property or as your landlord. My wife and I rented a townhouse that was managed by Michael Anthony properties. The property was in very bad shape when we moved in so we signed an agreement with Mike Brunnhoelzl acknowledging the poor condition and agreeing that we would receive our full deposit back when we moved out provided there was no major damage done. We lived there for 3 years and always paid our rent in full and early. When we moved out he completely disregarded our agreement and kept 100% of the deposit. We were never given an opportunity for a walk through or justification for breaking our signed contract. I would not trust Mike Brunnhoelzl or MA properties in any situation, big or small. They are an unethical and opportunistic organization lead by Mike himself. read more

Moving back to San Diego from the east coast was made easier by the flexibility Janine provided as she allowed me to conduct a tour via FaceTime since I was unable to see in person. Every single question and request has been responded to in a timely manner, and resolved. While I have not moved out of my rental yet, I thoroughly documented items such as nail holes, stains on counters, wear and tear and paint peeling/missing in the bathroom shower, upon arrival. As long as I have the carpet professionally cleaned (per the Lease Agreement) upon departure, and have thoroughly cleaned the unit, I anticipate a full refund of my deposit. In addition, I have purchased and installed, window treatment and a programmable thermostat which I intend to leave behind - leaving the unit better than when I moved in. The college apartment I got through them had minor issues (cracked tiles in the kitchen, bathroom door wouldn't close all the way, etc.), but was quite nice compared to some of the other places near campus. The biggest reason why I'm giving them this low of a rating is because of the manager, Nick G. Nick was very casual, which was nice for certain things e.g. he let us move out at any given time on our move-out day. However, I had the worst move-in experience I've ever had because of him. When I called him about picking up the keys, he said he'd left them in the apartment with the door unlocked for us. I checked one of the two keys to make sure it worked, and it did. The other key fit in the lock and I assumed it was also good. I took the second key with me, locked the door, and went to go get something down the street. When I came back, I realized the key wouldn't open the doors to my apartment even though it got into the lock. Now granted, I should have checked both of them completely. But I also was under the impression that Nick would have done his due diligence and given me the correct keys. I was locked out without my phone and had work in two hours. I was blessed that I was right by campus and could use the computers to get in contact with Michael Anthony Properties, along with a friend willing to let me stay the night at their place. I had to buy new work clothes for the day. When I finally got in contact with Nick, he told me he'd been drinking and that I'd have to wait until tomorrow for him to bring the correct key to let me back in. The next morning, he arrived later than the time we agreed on. He didn't acknowledge any of the concerning details from the following day. He just told me to make sure I throw away the faulty key and didn't even apologize. read more
