This time my husband and I got: - Chicken Ranchero Pizza (14" with Traditional Hand-Tossed Crust) - Italian American Pizza (12" with NY Style Crust) - Cheesy Breadstix The Chicken Ranchero was my preference between the two. I didn't pay close enough attention when ordering and didn't realize the Italian American didn't have sauce. It was good, but I think it would have been a lot better with a tomato sauce. The Cheesy Breadstix were cheesy as advertised and delicious. This continues to be my go to spot in Kenton. read more

Ask your server what the real prices are before you order. All the prices in the menu are wrong. I discovered this when I got my bill and saw I was charged more for all the calzones that we ordered than the price in the menu. When I brought this to their attention they acknowledged prices had changed but the menus aren't updated. When I pointed out the price in the menu is the advertised price the owner (through the waitress because he wouldn't face his customers directly) pointed to a statement on the front stating the prices may be different. This is false advertising. The food is really good and the waitress was awesome and she ultimately adjusted the bill (I hope she doesn't get in trouble for doing the right thing). We will not be returning because we don't support shady unethical and illegal practices that this establishment is engaging in. read more

A friend recommended this shop for amazing pizza. I'm particular about what I like and thought we would give it a try since she raved about it. The crust is spot on, marinara delicious as well. We started with the pizza rolls which were maybe even better than the pizza and we pigged out on those so we hardly had room for the pizza. My son and I went non traditional. He had a bacon cheeseburger pizza. Now he likes onions, but maybe not enough for what was on the pizza, it pulled away from the rest of the flavors. Without the onions, it was to die for. My truck smelled like onions for days after transporting leftovers. I had a margarita and it tasted fabulous. It has a garlic butter sauce and tons of cheese. I may now need a heart cath! Both of these reheated well in my air fryer. My husband had a supreme pizza that he said was very good as well. I did not sample it, but looked like a traditional supreme with their fab crust and marinara. Evidently we were too busy stuffing our faces to snap any pics! I didn't mention staff! We were one of the few people eating in on a late Saturday night. Takeout orders were hopping. Our server was friendly, checked in often and offered suggestions. The pizzas were always excellent, the order was ready to go when I walked in the door (a lot of times it was busy at the counter, but a couple of the employees recognized me and brought the pizzas up to the register ... Its been awhile since I've had this spot, so I figured we'd put it back in rotation. After browsing the menu, two specialty pizzas caught my eye: Louisiana Cajun Chicken, and Chicken Bacon Ranch. Chicken Bacon Ranch - so flavorful, creamy and melty, and just delicious! One of the best takes on this flavor combo I've ever experienced. Louisiana Cajun Chicken - Never had a pizza with a legit Cajun based sauce, but this was a culinary stroke of genius. With chicken and smoked bacon, the sauce has a smoky-sweet taste, so it's not on the spicy side. How all the ingredients blend together, you won't miss the spice. I will say this: the pride and attention they take in their toppings offerings really make a difference on their pizzas...especially the smoked bacon. If you're even remotely close to this spot, you owe it to yourself to check it out. You won't be disappointed! read more

I have to say I wish I was in Kenton more often just because of Michael Angelo's Pizza! The menu isn't like the usual pizza house. It's more of a gourmet pizza place. I had a cheeseburger pizza and it was great! Cheese bread, BOMB! The service was outstanding and it wasn't a long wait for my food. When my husband suggested this place I was excited. I love small nonfranchise pizza places. We split the pepperoni breadsticks which are not really breadsticks but are more liked baked pepperoni filled burritos. Paired with the garlic dip, they were beyond fantastic!! My daughter and i split their Margherita and my husband had the Italian American. Leftovers are expected! The portions are huge and delicious. Now for the lone negative we encountered. Service was slow! They prioritize takeout orders over dine in -- as they should-- and there was a lot of that tonight . Be patient... the food is so worth the wait!!! read more

My grandchildren love the desert pizza (Peanut butter & chocolate) no big surprise there! Definitely recommend. As most people would agree I hope. The pizza is excellent. The service and employee attitudes are beyond in need of supervision. There were 4 female employees that were more interested in laughing with each other and joking around rather then getting organized and address the customer needs. The clip board with pending ticket orders were hanging in plain view and there were 10 pending orders. I tried to phone in an order but the answering machine said the box was full so I drove 15 minutes to see what's up. The employee at the counter admitted to me that they put all the lines on hold. She then told me it would take 15 minutes for my order. I sat out in the car and returned 16 minutes later. My ticket order was still 4th in line and not started yet. So while I continued to wait I noticed the continuous horse play. I hope the owner reads this and gets pro-active with his staff or I am afraid that a once excellent pizza place will bite the dust. read more

Michael Angelo's is basically Kenton's claim to fame behind those disgusting Coon Dog Nationals that we hold every year. The owner, Michael Shepherd, has been on the US Pizza Team twice. And he's pretty good! Anyhow, the food. The food is excellent, their pizza is regarded as what pizza should be. It's traditionally done in the New York style of big floppy pieces and lots of sweet sauce, which is a huge change of pace around here. The prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay for. Aside from the standard pepperoni/cheese/sausage/whatever pizzas, Michael Angelo's has a lot of gourmet specialty pizzas too. My favorite being the Louisiana Cajun Chicken Pizza, an award winning pizza, and for good reason. My recommendation is to get a nice traditional pie, and an order of twisty breadsticks to go with. Absolutely delicious, and it's one of the few good things I can say about Kenton. Now let's just see if the city council manages to scare them out too. God I hate this shithole! read more

The pizza was really good - we had a large Hawaiian pizza - which was more than enough for three of us. We got a dozen BBQ wings too - I wasn't terribly impressed with the wings. They were pretty fatty and kind of soggy, and we didn't finish them. I wouldn't order the wings again. I think our waitress was having a bad day, but overall I'd come back for the pizza! read more

This is my go-to spot when I'm back at home in Kenton, which isn't very often! But when I am here, this is what I ALWAYS get. I assume my family gets annoyed by it! They barely even have to ask what I want for dinner anymore! I have never had a bad pizza here; we usually get take out. but have dined in a few times and always had a great experience. The best pizza in my opinion, my husband and I drive from Indian Lake to go here because it's so good. They are busy a lot of the time so you might have a wait if you plan to dine in, so be ready for a wait, it's mostly like that on weekends. But it's so worth the wait, I love their sauce and the crust is amazing. We love the peanut butter and chocolate pizza, it's very good and get a take home box because you most likely won't finish it, because it's sweet and filling. If you are looking for a great pizza stop here, it's not a cheap throw it on the pan pizza either, I think the price is fair for the quality and quantity of food that you get. I need to explain why just two stars. Mostly due to disappointment after the big buildup I got from friends. I am serious about pizza and could be considered a pizza snob. I have been to famous pizza places all over the US and Italy, I have been making my own for decades, and I have very specific tastes. A colleague and I drove 60 miles from another small town in OH just to try the pies. 60 miles each way, so we made the effort from our side. To be clear, the pizza I had was pretty good, and I'd be glad to have this place in my home town. However, I had much higher expectations. First, the salad was highly forgettable. I ordered a balsamic dressing that was just vinegar, period. I sent it back for ranch, not a good sign. But this is a small town in the eastern Corn Belt and fancy salads probably wouldn't do well. I decided to order a Margharita pizza since they are very basic and I wanted the quality of the crust to come through. This was not the classic Pizza Margharita, not even close. There was no tomato on the pie other than some small pieces of tomato sprinkled on top. The "white garlic sauce" was invisible and could not be tasted either. I asked for my pizza to be light on cheese, again to experience the crust. What I got was crust, lots of cheese, and a few bites of tomato. No basil whatsoever, just some dried oregano. A serious pizza guy like the owner ought to know exactly what you put on a Margharita, or not call it by that name. The crust was quite good, but there was so much cheese fencerow to fencerow that the crust was buried. If you are in Kenton and want a nice pizza, way better than the chains, this place is fine. If you want serious pizza that hews to tradition, and have to travel to get it, better get Jim Lahey's book "my pizza", and make your own. read more

Heard about this pizza place by reading Michael Shepard's book "Growing Pizza" and really wanted to try it. I just started in the pizza business in Eastern Indiana and me and my friend decided to make the hour and a half drive to try it. The toppings and the sauce were great but the crust itself was my favorite part. Crust was nice and crunchy and had that amazing flavor only his oven can make (couldn't get the waitress to tell me what it was lol). Relying on Yelp for our quick business stop in Kenton lead us here. Service is outstanding - very warm and friendly. I had the Margherita Pizza, my husband had the deluxe, and my 11 year old had the pepperoni 101. Everything tasted very fresh. Margherita had great flavor and was light at the same time. It was one of the best I've had. Our only regret was not noticing they had an option for thin, crispy crust, and the server, who was otherwise wonderful, didn't mention we had a choice. I guess we were in a hurry and didn't look too closely at the menu. Someone at the next table ordered it and it looked FABULOUS. I'm still thinking about it wishing I would have known. My bad. Their signature crust is most excellent, and I would happily eat it again though. We were intrigued by the peanut butter chocolate dessert pizza and gave it a try. Not our favorite. It's a GIANT mound of straight, very thick peanut butter on crust (looked like a whole mid-sized jar) with big chocolate swirls. Too much for us, especially on top of our actual pizza. It didn't go together well at all...for us. All the tables around us ordered the breadsticks to start and I think we missed the boat there. They also just switched to Pepsi products, and I'm personally not a fan, so my only other suggestion would be to switch back to Coke products, especially with pizza. :) read more
