Miami Velvet has potential, but it's a mixed bag. Venue is spacious with a lively dance floor, velvet decor, and a definite Latino Miami vibe. The mandatory towel-only policy for entering the playrooms felt unnecessary (no lingerie, no exceptions) which kills some of the sexy buildup. I was really looking forward to checking out Miami Velvet during EXXXOTICA weekend, especially since we were told by the VIP manager at the expo that our wristbands would be honored for entry. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case -- we were charged $110 at the door with zero explanation or acknowledgment of the event partnership. Once inside, we were made to stand directly in front of the entry door while waiting to show ID and pay -- no guidance, no courtesy. While standing there, one of the staff members flung a door open from inside and slammed it into my back. No apology. No concern. Just ignored like it didn't happen. The dress code enforcement felt wildly inconsistent. They turned away someone celebrating their birthday for dress code, yet we saw a man walking around in just a towel, and a guest with everything out -- and that was somehow, okay? The vibe inside was cold, not welcoming or inclusive at all. We were hoping for a respectful, sexy, lifestyle-friendly space to unwind -- instead it felt disorganized and uncomfortable. Went on New Year's Eve. I looked at all the area clubs and after reading reviews and listening to what people had to say, I chose Velvet to bring in the New Year. The staff is great, gave us a tour, and made us feel comfortable there. I really liked the place and it had plenty of playrooms that seemed clean. If this place was packed with people like I thought it would be, I feel like I would have had so much fun. I have been to many clubs all over the country. The last 2 clubs I have been to (Velvet and one in Fort Lauderdale) the single men really ruined it for me. They are aggressive! Being in the lifestyle for any length of time, you become familiar with the rules and really, they don't have to be posted on the wall reminding us of them. No means No, don't open closed doors, etc. If someone says they are not interested, they should not have to say it again. When you are in a room doing your thing, it really ruins the moment if you are spending more time explaining that you are no more interested in a person, than you were the last time they opened the door. Then they go get their buddy so he can have a look too. I am an exhibitionist, I don't mind voyeurs, most are respectful and you don't even notice them. I am not an easy person to offend but I felt very uncomfortable and the guys crossed some boundaries. I feel like single men should not be allowed in the playroom area (towel only) unless invited by a couple, but that's is just my opinion. So, needless to say, I will and plan to go back. I think I will end up really liking this place but I will only go on the days that I know that the club is not allowing single men. I hate to say that but the kind of guys that go on these nights are not the kind of guys I would even consider if we were looking for a male. Maybe the single males are a significant revenue for the club but they are keeping the kind of people you want in your club away, again just my opinion. It's been a while since I've visited here, but baaaaaby let me tell you, I had a blast! It was liberating, exciting and exhilarating. They made me feel welcomed with no pressure. At the time my only issue were men trying to get in who were not really about the life, but just freaks (which isn't a bad thing) they were just yuck, so I would like to think the clientele has upgraded. I viewed the website before attending. Was so excited to take my bf to a club like this. It was a HUGE let down. We paid $80 for a bunch of nothing. The part that at least looks nice and the best in pics, was closed off. So...there were only plain rooms with no ambience and nothing other than mattresses. We were visiting SoBe for just two nights and decided to go on Friday. People who worked there were all super friendly. You must leave your bottles with bartender. Music vibes were as if you were in a tejano bar so i wasn't keen on that. We were not fans of their play room seeing as you were made to put on a towel to enter and place your things in a locker. This rule was not on website. Plus they still Allowed all others in club still dressed to stand at the door and hang out in locker room and changing area and just stare at the rest of us. Major Down side is they allow single men in play room alone. There was like 6 that night and they were all completely naked, very creepy and making everyone uncomfortable. One even grab a door to private room when we were trying to close it and was attempting to barge in. They were rude and constantly knocking on locked doors and trying to force them open. We travel all over the US and this club is our worst experience yet. You MUST dis-robe and put your stuff in a locker before you can enter the "play" area. Like even if you just want to see it or who is in there, everyone must be naked or in a towel. It's not a nudist club so Im not sure why. I wanted to wear my sexy lingerie. It's so wierd and very inconvenient to put your clothes on to go get a drink. We are young and love a party club so we are down with loud music but this was so loud it prevented us from meeting any couples which is the whole point. The venue is huge! When you walk in, there's a big open dance floor with booths, side tables and lounges all around. I believe there's a pole to dance on, too. Everything is red velvet. Check your liquor at the bar. They say you can play anywhere but it was kinda cold in my opinion. Music was too loud to talk to anyone. There's a small pool room off to the side which is good for mingling. The play are is in the back. You pass through a locker/shower changing area and they give you a lock to secure your clothes. To enter the back area, you have to be naked or in a towel. They have a bunch of single / small group play rooms and a large group room. Only couples and single ladies are allowed in the big group room. Mixed crowd. It felt like mostly tourist. We were tourist, too. Not really my kind of crowd and not a lot of people. I recently visited MV as a solo male on vacation from overseas. Have visited clubs in the USA many times in the last 20 years, so was used to the routine with membership and party fees. Staff were friendly EXCEPT the doorman. Big dude whos first gesture was to stand above me and say "been here b4", before telling me to show my "paperwork", and frisk me. I tried to make small talk by asking how his day had been and he just looked away with a distinterested/pissed look. Single guys are sometimes made to feel like the bad guys at swinger clubs on occasion, but this was my most notable experience in this regard. On the bright side my intimidation was relieved when I met the friendly guy inside behind the computer, and the bar staff. The club was big and ragey/loud, and the crowd was generally younger than me (im early 60s but am usually young-at-heat enough to get to play with ladies/couples in their 20s-50s in the main). However, I just didnt get into the groove (so to speak) at MV as it just wasnt the scene where I could just rock up and talk to a couple. I left after about 2 hours of sitting in the main dancefloor room drinking my brew beer and getting bored. I did check out the back rooms on two occasions, but the only action going was behind closed doors. I guess I struck the club on a quiet night (Friday)..... So to anyone who reads this - you will have nights that just dont work out, and TO THE CLUB, please ask your door man to be a little more friendly to single guys. I'm not one to judge when it comes to alternative lifestyles... What rocks your socks might be a complete turn off to others, but I myself, have an open mind. After taking our Lyft driver's recommendation on where to go for a wild and good time, we found ourselves at Miami Velvet, which is about 30 minutes from South Beach. It's location is in a warehouse district, but not difficult to find with its neon lights. Membership prices are steep, and kind of ridiculous that they make visitors purchase one even though they won't make use of it. BYOB is cool, but for an out of towner that is arriving very late and not familiar with the area, it would have been nice to have the option to purchase drinks instead of just the 40s we grabbed at the gas station. There are several different rooms that were mostly empty. The action mostly took place in the towel only room. We went on a night where only couples and single ladies were allowed, so we didn't have to deal with what other reviewers experienced. Now that I'm all paired up the couple membership is $75 for three months or you could splurge and spend $200 on the year member ship. Aside for the membership fee you also need to pay the nightly fee which can range from $45-$85 for couples Single ladies pay no more than $25 any night. Aside from the membership you also get plenty of amenities such as lockers, towels, 2 different sobe style dance areas and a breakfast buffet with made to order treats. Also included is a BYOB bar with complimentary mixers Yes you do have to provide your own alcohol but in the end it makes sense you don't need to worry about bringing extra cash for drinks and at the end of your night you simply take the rest of your bottle home. It is a little pricey but you truly are getting your money worth. FAQs: Do you have to get naked ? Absolutely not! (Unless you want to.) Do I have to participate ? No-pressure atmosphere and welcoming members staff. Go at your own pace and find your groove that you're comfortable with. I'm single. Will I feel out of place? If you're respectful and friendly, no. If you're a single gentleman, please check out the site for more help. Even if you're a single lady, you won't be intimidated by Miami Velvet. We were pleasantly surprised. The people around us were of all ages, but mostly under 40 and many in their 20's or 30's. Some were dressed more risque, some looked just like us. Some were heavily made-up, lots of plastic surgery, some were Plain Janes like me. No one was gross or extremely unattractive. Obviously, there were the more blatantly sexual people, but there were also more subtle couples. We walked straight to the bar and handed our bottle over to the bartender who poured our first drink. (Great system with the card ID on the bottles, by the way.) We circled the dance floor a bit, looked around nervously, then got up the courage to dance a little. There are a couple of rooms, dimly lit, with soft, plush couches where people (fully clothed) are strewn about in various positions, making out, touching, etc. We chilled there for a while and joined the fun. Then, we made our way to the locker room. We had no idea what lie behind the locker room door, but we decided to jump right in. We disrobed and secured our stuff in a locker. The "towel only" area consists of a handful of private and not-so-private rooms. There are kinky devices to strap each other down, private rooms with beds, and then there is the room with a big wrap-around bed lining the wall. We decided to go into this room. we started out in the corner, having some fun on our own, watching, and listening. The rooms are far from soundproof. The cleaning guy even got down on the dance floor a couple of times. It was just a very positive experience overall. I'd definitely recommend going to Miami Velvet if you're curious about swinging. Sure, not everyone there looks like Johnny Depp or Megan Fox, but we still found there to be a ton of attractive people surrounding us. Visit: 09/07/2019 So before anyone reads this review, please read one or two of the other 36 reviews we have done for other Lifestyle Clubs and understand that we are not negative or hateful people. With that being said, if we didn't feel the need to write this review, we would have most likely asked for our money back first at check-in and if not there then we would have asked for it back after we saw our "VIP" room; especially considering it was our last night in Miami and we could have at least salvaged the night by leaving, but I digress. To start off with a positive note: If you are looking for a regular, normal, and basic Miami-style night club with a twist then this is absolutely the club for you. It has the Miami flare, the Miami vibe, and Miami music, the Miami bodies; it is very much a Miami club that just so happens to have places where you can have sex. So do not go to Velvet expecting the Lifestyle culture and community that you are used to. We went on a Saturday and it was the Saturday night after we went to Exxxotica during the day; so we were really excited and looking forward to a good time especially since the club was a sponsor of the convention and since it didn't close until 6am. Then throw in that on Saturdays it is only open to Couples and Single Men, so we were really looking forward to the crowd. Prior to getting there, there were multiple posts on Facebook (it's always nice to see a club that utilizes social media and mainstream platforms because it shows you that they are not afraid to operate in the light and above board) advertising that you could pre-purchase and save $25 and that if you showed the Facebook flyer, you could get your Membership Fee waived. Well there was also a place on the website that side out of towners whose first time it was visiting the club also got their membership fee waived. Plus the Exxxotica VIP guide stated that if we showed our Exxxotica wrist bands that we could also get our Membership Fee waived. Now, I do believe our membership fee was waived, but that was only after we spent $229. So...we like to pre-pay for clubs that offer it because it spends up the check-in process and allows you to get into the club and drinking and meeting people a lot faster. The website had all of the normal pricing options: Couples, Single Females, Couples Combined Ticket and Membership, Etc. At the bottom was a pricing for a VIP Room for $125 plus a $4 service fee. Now this is where it was our fault for assuming because every other club we have visited and reviewed that has had a VIP room has clearly stated, "Private VIP room. Must purchase your admission to club SEPERATELY and have valid membership." This disclaimer was not present for the VIP room, so we ignorantly assumed that the $129 included our entry and this private room; it didn't. We learned this as we arrived to the club to check-in and we were told that it was extra and that we still needed to pay $100 to get in. No $25 discount even though we clearly tried to pre-pay and just purchased the wrong thing. No $25 discount for the FB flyer. And no $25 discount for purchasing the Exxxotica VIP. Now, we can say the young lady somewhat tried to be helpful, but not really. And the General Manager Jason was too distracted with his regular female customers to actually focus on helping her. So we paid the $100 to get in, but then were giving no guidance on where our VIP room was, where to take our drinks, or pretty much anything until we came back to ask. At that point we were told to see the locker room attendant. Yep...the locker guy. So we went to him and he was a little more helpful, he explained the alcohol check-in system to us which is where your bottles are dropped off at the bar and there is a number on your alcohol that coincides with a number on your wrist band. So we dropped our alcohol off and he offered us a quasi bs tour since we asked to see our VIP room. Sadly, the VIP rooms were not VIP in any way, shape, or form. One (room 7) was just a regular play room with a queen thin mattress and a TV that didn't work, another (room 9) was a full size thin mattress that was kind of elevated but in a very narrow room with little to no room for anything, and the one (room 8) we chose didn't have a bed. Instead it had a cum stained couch, mirrors, and a stripper pole. To make matters worse, you don't even get the key to your VIP room; instead the locker room attendant has it and opens the room whenever you can find him. The social area was nice though. It was a fairly large area with a nice size L shape bar in front of you right as you walk into the club. The bar was the best part of the club to us and that was only because of Alyssa (apologies if we misspell your name); she was amazing. She could tell we were having a bad time, so whenever she saw us even coming close to heading her way she had our glass of champagne already ready for us or a brand new bottle already popped. This place is okay. The bartenders are friendly and the owners seemed happy to give us a tour the first time we went. However, it's really not the cleanest of places. They say that they have people come in and wipe down the rooms immediately, and I didn't see that happen. The back rooms are also pretty hot, and if you shut the doors, it gets really hot really fast. The other thing is that the rooms near the lounge don't have anywhere to put your drinks, and they don't have electrical outlets (so good luck plugging in your hitachi lol.) My boyfriend and i came here when we were vacationing in Miami a few weeks ago. We have never been to a swingers club or sex club or anything of that sort. This was new to us, but we were both excited to see what it was about. I wish this place had a try before you buy type deal for the membership. Couples membership was $50. We were only coming here for 1 night, but whatever. The best thing about this club was the BYOB (bring your own bottle!) you bring your own bottle and leave it at the bar.. and they provide mixers and chasers. Very cool. You get to take your bottle home at the end of the night. This club looked like something out of an old movie to me, did not look modern at all. The crowd is 95% Spanish and not very attractive. They only played Spanish music when we were there on a Wednesday. The club was rather empty also. My boyfriend and I sat down in the club area and also walked around the other areas. Not much action going on. We left at around 1:30am and still not much action. This place is kind of gross to me. A place like this should have hand sanitizer stations EVERYWHERE... there are guys jerking off and touching all these door knobs to the rooms and spreading their nasty germs and there's no hand sanitizer or wipes or anything available. The person who works here and gave us a tour since it was our first time told us "if you feel uncomfortable and want us to change the bed sheets, you can ask us and we'll do it." a place like this should have the sheets changed immediately after every session. You don't know if these people have STD's or anything. Just seemed very unsanitary. Some of the areas in the back were not open on this night and that was a bummer. Most fun my boyfriend and I had was watching porn while laying on the chase couches in the loungey area outside of the bathrooms. Couple were seated at the couch next to ours and girl started giving guy oral sex while other single guys there stood around and watched/ jerked off. Not a turn on at all. If he saw a couple go to a room, he would immediately run right after them. He was SOOOO disgusting. Laughing at him was the highlight of our night. He had no shame in his game. At least the other single guys were more reserved with their perviness. No dresscode here either. There were women in jeans, and women in hardly anything (not attractive women either). By the locker rooms, there are a bunch of bottles of lubes and lotions you can use. Disgusting. Especially since everyone is using the same bottles and God only knows where their hands have been. Nothing seems sanitary here. My bf and i did not choose to use any of the rooms or beds, didnt seem clean. I was more uncomfortable than aroused. This place has the potential to be great, but it was a disappointment. I wish they would screen people who got memberships. Attractive people would have made this night better.. my bf and i seemed to be the most attractive people at this place. Not to toot our own horn, but its true. When one first arrives to this 20,000 square foot spot, it is much like any other weekend at a swanky nightclub. Dozens of well-dressed patrons wait in line to enter past the enormous black-suited gatekeepers. Scantily clad women in mile-high heels and sultry teeny dresses arrive arm-in-arm with their companions. Yes, we are all very familiar with this typical Miami scene. What you may not be familiar with is that this is Miami Velvet. Just off the Palmetto Expressway, Miami Velvet is a swinger's club, safely nestled in its own secluded corner and with good reason. They are known for their very strict rules protecting the identity of their members. The usual connotations with swinging range from perverted old men to wild crazy orgies. Curiously enough, most of the members are not swingers. The common thread they do share is an open mind and adventurous spirit. Let's face it, most people go to a club in hopes of finding someone to, uh... "connect" with. Some of us have even seen people "connecting" in some of our most exclusive and expensive nightclubs. Here, at the very least, we are all pretty clear about the intention and the nature of the club, though it is NOT mandatory or required. Upon entering, you see a dance floor flanked by two bars. The club is BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle). They provide the mixers and serve you graciously. The main area is very well furnished, with comfortable sofas and to (no one's surprise) a couple of stripper poles. In all, it provides for a very relaxed, spacious and fun environment. VIP areas are available to be reserved for special occasions, as well. You may be surprised to learn that most of the people we encountered were actually quite normal, very attractive and fully clothed (assuming mini-dresses count as clothing). Like any other establishment, they were drinking their preferred beverages and dancing to the awesome tunes. Since it was New Year's Eve, there was a giant martini glass with a gorgeous, bikini-clad, goddess (our friend) dancing seductively inside of it for our viewing pleasure. At midnight there was a champagne toast and confetti, making for a very festive and visually enticing way to ring in the New Year. Besides the main room, the club contains a small cafeteria with different types of hot food and desserts, a pool hall, and another dance room where naughtiness is very much welcomed and encouraged by the patrons. This room had private, canopy-style beds with curtains, if privacy is desired. If not, you are welcome to leave those curtains wide open to put on a sexy salacious show. At one point late in the night, two sexy girls sampled each other's treats in one of the beds attracting some on-lookers, while many others carried on with their salsa dancing. No one seemed to mind either way. On the other wing of the club, there are two major areas where all those mischievous thoughts you have been imagining have the potential of actually manifesting. On one side, people can remain clothed (or not) and choose from over eight different rooms where they can "play", watch others "play", be watched "playing", "play" with others or "play" in absolute privacy. The other portion of the club you DO have to be somewhat unclothed to enter. There is a locker room to change and stow one's belonging before entering this section of the club. Only towels, underwear and/or nudity are allowed. This section contains couches, beds, private rooms, open rooms (no doors) and a huge lush orgy room. There were many couples playing, watching and enjoying throughout the night. We spoke to a couple that is in a strict monogamous relationship but enjoy having sex in a room knowing other people in the adjacent room are doing the same. They enjoy the scintillating sights and sexy sounds which they say amplifies their sex lives. We spoke to Jesse & Jessie the sweet monogamous couple who handle the marketing for Miami Velvet. There are many preconceived notions about the swinging lifestyle which include: it is deviant, unsafe, and only for freaks and weirdos They explained that swinging is a very female-dominated lifestyle and are typically the ones to get their male companions involved. Even if, as we all imagine, it was the man's idea, usually it is the women that initiate contact with other women. There is a real sense of empowerment for these women encouraging them to take charge and explore their sexuality as, admittedly, many are bi-curious or bisexual. We have been to swingers clubs in MD and PA. We were excited about going to Maimi Velvet while visiting Miami. We were extremely let down. The club was full of posers rather than real swingers. It was like going to any other nightclub until it got very late. We would never go back. We are going to check out Trapeze next time. I read through everyone's reviews and I realized one thing. Everyone from Miami rated the club a 5 and everyone from out of state rated it a 1. I think that says something. It was very clickish and not very welcoming to outsiders. Definitely u gotta experience Miami velvet! Yesterday I went for the first time. I loved it! The place is awesome, the music rocks and the crowd was good too, although they weren't really friendly but I'm pretty sure it'll get better next time! the staff of the place is very nice. One of the guys tht works there gave a me a tour and showed me all the spots inside the place. I thought there weren't going to be so much people but I was mistaken. We are former customers of Miami Velvet and we have to left the membership because the degradation of the place. First, there are a couple of regulars (all cubans) that never talk with any one, just dance and make noise. Later in the night they go to the play area and play noisily in that area too. If you go on Friday, the solo mans are very disgusting (all cubans too), yelling between each other about that women or that couple. My wife and I heard about this spot so we decided to check it out. The music was good and the place was pumpin! We had a great time. We didn't go to the towel room or anything like that, we stayed on the main dance floors as did many people who were there. Absolutely no pressure to do anything. The best way I can describe it is to say, you get from this spot what u r looking for.
