    At the water's edge

The Miami Science barge is a pleasant and free educational attraction floating on the water in Museum Park. Grant funded (for the most part), the barge hosts school groups during the week and any interested locals/tourists that stroll by. Staffed mostly by grad students or recent grads, the barge provides a great look at local ecosystems, hydroponics, aquaculture, and sustainability in action. A scientist myself, I've stopped by a few times to chat up the staff and learn more about the mission of the barge. I definitely think it's a perfect stop for curious kids & adults who want to immerse themselves in a living science lesson. In one visit I saw kids building solar-powered cars, using microscopes to look at living creatures in sea-water, and excitedly finding a turtle that was seemingly out of place in a fish tank. The staff are always happy to talk about the various exhibits/experiments taking place and what might be planned for the future. I also learned the barge hosts a monthly guest speaker and happy hour called "Sip of Science." It's definitely worth a stop if you're in Museum Park!

The staff of young scientists made all the difference in the Miami Science Barge. The barge exhibits aquaculture and salt and fresh water fish tanks, the cool FL science museum type stuff. However ive never seen the science staff of a museum or attraction so happy to explore the wonder of nature with their visitors. The scientist staff here were exceptionally welcoming and enthusiastic. The hands on activities at the bardge felt more real and important than at the average museum. This is a real lab. The three children I had with me loved collecting the water samples and viewing them under slides. The kids actually wanted to stay looking through the microscope beyond their normal attention spans. The staff made the process exhillirating for us all. Highly recommended. Park at PAM for $2 an hour.

Communication was inconsistent--appointments were missed or late--and there was no follow-up. I only learned two weeks after the PPT that I had run out of time for one. Her tone in the meeting was not collaborative, which she indicated was her approach. I wouldn't recommend if you are out of state.

Krista was there to educate the attendees on creating an effective Individual Educational Plan (IEP) and 504 Plan. Her knowledge of IDEA law, IEP's, and the school system is impressive. We left that meeting with a lot of information but it was obvious to us we lacked the amount and years of experience Krista obviously has. We contact My Educational Solutions to ensure the best possible IEP. Best decision ever! So far Krista's support has made a huge difference. She's a force to be reckoned with when in advocacy mode. During our meeting she was focused, attentive, proactive, catching possible misrepresentations, and pointing out legal rights under IDEA law. Had she not been in attendance one IEP would have had an unmeasurable goal, with no way to track progress. I would have never thought to question that. Krista had the entire IEP team brain storming what system and material they were going to use to implement that goal and measure progress. I especially like that Mrs. Barth doesn't rush to finalize the IEP, she wants it done right, quality not quantity. I will most definitely continue acquiring these services as my children grow and their needs change. I highly recommend My Educational Solutions for anyone in search of advocacy services and wants it done right. My only regret is that I hadn't met her sooner. After researching their website and speaking to my friends about Spanish Hangout, I was surprised to find out that many of my friends already knew about this school and it's teacher/owner susana. She used to be located in the WeWork on Lincoln Road where many friends of mine also had offices. This made me comfortable and happy to hear that she was a nice, professional and real person. I use Spanish at my work and need to speak it because we have many clients from South America. I felt behind because in my office I am the only non-native speaker of Spanish and have to compete with co-workers that speak Spanish as their first language. I have beed studying twice a week with susana for the past three months and have went from casual conversational Spanish to giving professional business presentations directly to clients all in Spanish. The clients really appreciate that I am learning the language and they can understand me because susana focuses on correct proper grammar with clear pronunciation. She did not teach me to merely speak in Spanish, she taught me to speak spanish with clear pronunciation and proper grammar. Class with Susana is alway good, even when the subject matter gets hard. She is patient, kind, has a good personality and most of all is a good teacher. It takes a special kind of person to be patient, clear, kind and focused on your progress as a teacher and susana is all of these things. If you are looking for a Spanish teacher stop your search immediately and call susana. You have found the Spanish teacher of your dreams. I highly recommend her and will keep taking class with her. After successfully completing the initial virtual interview, I was contacted by the Director of Recruitment to schedule a phone interview. However, the scheduled interview call was missed entirely, and after waiting, I ultimately had to locate and call the office myself. During the conversation, there appeared to be confusion regarding my candidacy and interview status. Despite this, the discussion itself went well, and I was informed that I would likely move forward to the next stage involving a teaching demonstration with faculty the following week. After receiving no follow-up communication regarding scheduling, I sent a polite reminder requesting the date and time so I could prepare accordingly. I later received a rejection email without any further discussion. I fully understand that schools may choose other candidates, and I respect that process. However, the scheduling issues, communication delays, and overall coordination of the interview experience felt disorganized and inconsistent with the professional image the institution presents publicly.

I've been thinking of taking the WSET exam to get some more solid knowledge of wine, and after comparing different places offering the course as well as online options, I decide to take the class here. Located in the SunTrust building, the academy is easily accessible and there's garage as well as street parking around. The class is a small in size so it's good for sharing experience and opinions. Alessandra is readily available to answer questions during and after class, and she gives useful tips in preparing for the exam. The course really helped me in calibrating my palate to the WSET standard, as well as broadening my horizon and introducing me to less common wines, such as Hungarian tokaji and Australian riesling. In the end, I felt that regardless of whether I pass the exam or not, the course was totally worthwhile, because it has given me a lot of knowledge and the tool to better appreciate wine.

What an incredible time I had yesterday at the Florida Wine Academy for my Wine Class…read more I have so many reasons to go back, from the impeccable place, inside and outside, to the wonderful and well-prepared class, directed by Ms. Nicole. She emailed us, two days before, and asked us if we have any food allergies since they will provide some snacks to pair with the wines. She also gave us the address and explained to us how to get there and where to park. I parked in a public garage for $5.00, this was not my best choice, because I'm not used to walking alone downtown, but it wasn't that bad after all. I went into the Sun-trust building, a beautiful tall building. The academy is on the 22nd floor as Nicole told us in her email. Once I got there, we went to this room where she had everything set up as you can see in my pictures, so pretty and organized. That's one of the most important things for me, how well organized and neat everything was. I need all those, in order for me to learn and enjoy myself the way I did. She started the class as a Professor will, telling us about herself and that, made me happy, such a prepared person is teaching me about wine...wow. The way she directed the class, with all the details, from guiding us where to buy wines, to open up our senses. Smell, Taste, and Body, were words we used during the whole class since we learned from her how to categorize each different wine, from all the six we had. As we were learning, smelling, and trying the wines, she also told us how to pair them with food and gave us tips on which wine will go good or better with the food we choose. With the wines we tried, we had some nuts, cheese and crackers, grapes, and dark chocolate...Yummy! They also offer all the 4 levels of WSET classes, plus labs like the one I went and more. You can always call or check their website for more information. Honestly, after trying this class yesterday, I don't feel so embarrassed to try the leveled classes and get my certification, because they way they teach you, you can actually learn and move forward.
