Great authentic mexican food!!! Chicken burrito seasoned to perfection!!!

My wife and I ordered Mi Ristorante for take out recently. We just moved to Mount Prospect from Chicago and were in desperate need for Mexican food. I ordered a chicken burrito and it was delicious. The chicken tasted fresh and was not "suspect," like the chicken at so many other Mexican eateries. The guacamole was also delicious, but you had better like cilantro if you order this guacamole. I think cilantro may have been in greater abundance than avocado on the ingredients list. As delicious as my food was, I am only giving Mi Ristorante 4 stars, as I am pretty sure it caused my diarrhea that night. I will totally still order from Mi Ristorante again because getting Mexican takeout already assumes a decent probability that diarrhea will occur. It is always a gamble, and the house usually has an edge. read more

Small restaurant with about 8 tables that appears family owned and operated. The food was flavorful, hot and reasonably priced. The restaurant and ladies room were clean and the restroom had a baby changing table in it. My 3rd Mexican eatery in 3 weeks and I liked this one the best. read more

Ordered a steak burrito w/ beans, cheese and sour cream. Received a steak burrito with cheese. There was a buzz about this place at work and I was in the mood for a burrito so I decided to try it and it didn't hit the spot. The steak was juicy but under seasoned and the fact they forgot to put on two toppings was a bummer. The red and green sauce were average. I was quoted 15 minutes for my meal to be ready and it took 25 minutes so I waited for 10 minutes which eats into the half hour lunch I get. There was only one chef and one waitress/counter person so it was pretty hectic in there. I'd try Mi Restaurant one more time but overall a forgettable and dissapointing meal. read more

Mi Restaurant is delicious Mexican food and exceptional customer service! We stopped by for some of their delicious carne asada and chicken tacos ( their salsa verde is AMAZING, yum). We also ordered some guacamole. We got the order to go since we were tired and just wanted to eat at home, but when we got home we realized the guacamole was missing. When I called them, the owner apologized profusely. He said he was very sorry that we didn't get the guacamole and then he offered to DELIVER it to our home! I thought this was really above and beyond and such exceptional customer service!!!! To my knowledge they are only dine in and carry out, so this was really going above the call of duty, but he wanted to make sure that we got what we ordered and he didn't want us to have to come out again. I was so grateful because we were exhausted, and it was a very cold evening. They have made me a customer for life!! The food is delicious, the decor is clean and authentic, there's great music if you dine in, and the type of customer service is that which you just don't see every day! Great little Mexican restaurant, family-owned and their food is loaded with flavor and authentic preparation. Enchiladas and tacos are fantastic. Real easy on the wallet, and a nice atmosphere if you dine in. This is the real deal, not a chain offering pseudo-Mexican food. And their guacamole is superb, too. Came in for takeout before an evening meeting. The place was empty although it was during rush hour so maybe too early to tell. I have to say, the food was not great. The al pastor was somehow both greasy AND dry. The beans had very little flavor, I had to salt them to make them palatable. My girls ate the rice though and my older one liked her carne asada well enough. If the other reviewers are right, it sounds like there's been a management or ownership change and the food has gone downhill. Maybe it was just the night I went though. For their sake, lets hope so. I'd really like to have a good Mexican place close to home. I'd recommend going to Las Asadas over by the original McDonald's for really great food, even if it's a divey atmosphere. read more

We have been looking for a good area Mexican carryout place for a while now, and with MI we have found what we've been looking for. We have been by this place so many times without walking in -- what a mistake on our part. While this place is not much to look at, the food is great. It easily meets and exceeds the quality of Mexican food in other restaurants where you might pay twice as much. It is not "fast food" for sure, so if you're looking for a rush in rush out, this is not the place. But if you're looking for quick, fresh, quality Mexican food at a great price, definitely try this place out! We will definitely be regulars. read more

I think the best way to explain the difference in taste between this place and the average taco place is "clean". The meat tastes more fresh, more clean, and the portions are generous. I've tried: Steak Burrito Chicken Burrito Lengua Taco The steak burrito was very filling, the meat looked and tasted like actual steak as opposed to some kind of mystery meat. It was not more greasy than a steak burrito should be. Again, the flavor was fresh and clean. The chicken was much better than average. The meat is pulled / shredded and marinated in some kind of tomato base, quite good. The LENGUA, what can I say, the lengua was fantastic. I've had lengua in many places, but never was the portion this hearty. Their salsa is obviously fresh. The dining room is pretty small, so if you come with a bunch of friends you'll probably have to take several tables. read more

The food the very good, all freshly made, not frozen. The stuff peppers (chiles rellenos) are awesome, tastes just like my mom use to make 30 years ago! Price is very affordable, the staff is very friendly. The only thing I didn't like is the "TIPS are Welcome" jar by the cash register. If they aren't paying the employees good, then raise the prices and remove the jar. I never seen that in other area restaurants, including the ones in the same strip mall. read more

This is a great small restaurant with a pretty broad menu. I've been here a bunch of times and the food is always terrific. These are some of the best tacos you will find outside of Mexico City. Carne asada is really good. Enchiladas, tortas... everything is great. And, you get little extras rarely seen at most other small Mexican places: homemade tortillas, amazing homemade salsa, grilled onions and serranos on the entrees, etc. I'll keep going back! read more

Its now a family run establishment where they take extreme pride in their work. Even a drive by can prove how much work they put into remodeling the place. Lets get into the food. When they first started, the menu was a sheet of paper, all in spanish. Now? They have already expanded, full color, english menu to include items such as elote! Yes, I know thats simple, but for some reason, I can't make it delicious. No one seems to have it around in the burbs anyway. They have HAND MADE tortillas. Its their pride and joy, and they hardly even boast about it. To them, its normal, but to anyone who has eaten mexican food often, the difference will make your jaw hit the floor. That's all I have to say about that. Their salsa is different- everything is authentic here. the beef / meat dishes are plentiful for all you carnivores out there. Alright, first things first. If you've ever been to Taco Burrito King, then you're pretty jaded as to what sort of cheap Mexican food you'll be able to enjoy. If, for some reason, you haven't been to TBK, you better go there. MOVING ON! This place is pretty fucking close to being exactly what I was looking for. I bust through the door, hungry for some tasty snacks, and BEFORE I EVEN REACH THE COUNTER, the lady asks if I want to eat there or carry-out. Talk about service. So I order two steak quesadillas from there menu of about 40,000 types of quesadilla, and take a seat. While I'm waiting, I'm soothed by the quality of the chairs and the festive decorations. They had a few pinatas up, but when I asked for a stick to knock them down with, the lady who took my order didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Whatever. SO ANYWAY! My food is ready. I didn't even have to get up. The lady behind the counter walks out of what look like the doors to a saloon from a Western, and HANDS me my food. I was floored. What class. What service. Anyway, I ate the 'dillas and was pretty impressed as to how they tasted. Shit is prime. read more

Hidden gem. Best Mexican restaurant in the Northwest suburbs, handsdown in our family's opinion. I'm boring and can't help but order the chicken tacos over and over again. Just something about the way they cook the chicken in this red sauce that makes it taste oh so good. My husband gets everything from the steak fajitas to this steak soup. I've eaten here one and half times. Once the food was good for a Mexican suburb restaurant , so when I was craving Mexican again I decided to go back. Big mistake. I ordered cheese enchiladas, and my husband ordered carne Asada. When I brought the carry out home mine was filled with meat , he had barely any meat and no tortillas. I called to let them know and lady who answered the phone stated bring the entire order back because I accidentally placed someone else's guacamole order in your bag. There was no guacamole in my bag . I brought the bag back . Without the guacamole (I never seen this guacamole) she kept insisting I had the guacamole " I placed it in your bag , my cook saw me" on and on . I was so frustrated I asked for a refund . I DIDNT STEAL GUACAMOLE . Overall the food is decent , small portions, horrible customer service. We went the the Mexican grocery store down the road and had better food, larger portions and way better customer service read more

I noticed they have carne en su jugo, so I took some home. This is a well-regarded soup/stew type dish that is certainly a rarity in these parts. But I was disappointed. There was lots of chopped up beef and some bacon, and for me it was all too fatty. I ended up taking all the beef and bacon out, The half or third that was left was very nice. Good broth. Don't be fooled by the sad looking sign....this place is so so awesome...really authentic, the waitstaff are really nice & always help me pick things out for my PICKY eater 6yr old. I've been here for the lunch specials, which I LOVE their burritos, and I've been for dinner...I love their rice, it always is fresh, and I mean, never clumpy, dumpy stuff, it's some good Mexican rice!! The meals, are always a good portion, I never leave hungry & the salsas are a really nice flavor. The meat, is always so tasty, the chicken is shredded to perfection and moist & the beef doesn't have that fatty- taste to it you sometimes get with small places like this.
