Wish I could rate the food here, but we didn't have a chance to try it as we left not long after being seated in a very loud and busy section. Lots of families around us (which was fine) but the music was way too loud. I was having trouble hearing, so we asked if the bar was open and one of the bartenders said yes so we moved there and sat at an open booth. We stopped in here on our way to Petaluma. The staff were quick to seat us and they took our order promptly. We ordered the homemade guacamole and I also ordered a shrimp dish. The guacamole came out quickly - and it was flavorful and the portion was great. My shrimp dish was also huge and I enjoyed the chipotle sauce and mushrooms and peppers which accompanied it. We both appreciated the laid back attitude and attentive service here. The staff were very professional and the food was pretty solid. My only qualm with this place was that the bathroom did not seem well attended to. It was a mess. I don't think I would go out of my way to come here again (their old health score was a little unsettling) but if you're looking for a friendly low-key spot in the area - that seems to easily accommodate groups - Mi Ranchito is worth checking out. I tend to dislike the tipping culture in the US, but this is a place where every time I've went, I've been more than happy to give a 20% tip. BEWARE OF MASSIVE CREDIT CARD FRAUD HERE!! I've come this MiRanchito MANY times over the years, and brought many friends there as well; last time was Feb 4, and the power briefly went out. We sat at the bar, as we often do. Our credit card info got stolen, and about a week later, large purchases started to be made, in Rohnert Park - while we were in Tahoe with the actual card! It's taken hours and hours to deal with the credit card company, who STILL hasn't fully approved the claim - they say the card was physically present at one of those purchases, and was signed for. Which means there is a credit card duplication scam going on in Rohnert Park, and at least one of the employees at this restaurant is part of it. So now we have to file a police report, on top of everything else. I will never be back, and I will be warning my friends away as well; this restaurant has lost a very long-time customer. read more

What, only 3.5 stars? This place deserves better. Definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area. Heaping plates of fresh authentic Mexican food, a salsa bar, a fun & festive atmosphere, and attentive service--what more do you want? It's a big place with a lot of seating, but was nonetheless nearly packed when I visited on Saturday evening. There were outdoor tables as well, near a cart where a woman was frying something made with masa--pupusas?--tamales? Couldn't tell but it looked delicious. The portion sizes are epic--seriously gorgeous platters--and the flavors are spot on. The rice has a unique green pepper aftertaste, and the self-serve salsa verde is excellent as well as the red one that comes with the meal. Our server, a young guy who seemed to be everywhere at once, was super efficient and helpful. He even brought us a couple extra tortillas at no charge. Overall, a total winner. It's such a comfortable environment and caters to all types of crowds. Their bar is always crackin' and is so much fun during happy hour (Monday through Friday 3-7) and weekends. I highly suggest the Siete Leguas tequila; it's my favorite and was introduced to me by one of their fabulous bartenders! Service is quick and food is gooood. It literally looked as if they scooped it out of a cocktail glass. No flavor of lime whatsoever. The fish ceviche again didnt have that ceviche taste I would have liked. Servers were all very nice and helpful. A young lady helped us yesterday and she was very helpful in her recommendations. I had the enchiladas Del Mar I think they were called. Loved it, the sauce was so creamy, tart, and spicy. The seafood was cooked perfectly, so delicate and well flavored with a green sauce inside. The plate was beautiful. My family enjoyed all of the dishes. I ate every bite which was a surprise to me. Only downside was that when tables were bussed nearby, the smell of the cleansers were so strong that they affected the taste of my food for the last few precious bites (it was so good otherwise).
