It's such a let down paying for food ... expecting something... and getting something else... order is wrong. I honestly wanna rate less than 3 but I have to remember there were 2 good experiences prior ... changed my mind... after inspecting the "burrito with extra well done crispy carnitas" I'm done. Relationship over. Ending with 2 stars not coming back. Ever heard the term "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." I'm not committed enough to keep these inconsistent relationships going. Sorry. 2 good one night stands and a huge let down with no return policy or warranty but a call to staff who is too busy to care if they get it right or if they make it right after the fact. Nope. I was a very regular customer for lunch. Great food, service, I really liked this place. Maybe this is small, but more than once when I paid with cash, the waiter would bring my change with the bills back, but not the coins. So if my bill was $13.40, I'd get the bills back, but not the .60 cents. More than once. Was told they don't have coins. I begged to differ, and both times got my coins. Starting to think this is "tip padding" or worse, coming from the top. At any rate, I was disgusted the second time it happened, left no tip, and will never go back. I went to this restaurant for lunch today with a group of friends, 9 of us all told. This was my first time here and the food was delicious. We had traditional margaritas and beers to go with our meals. Our waitress was excellent and brought us our food handily. We all ordered shrimp and fajitas. Carnitas mole enchiladas, two chilli rellenos, a chicken enchilada and two fish taco plates. I enjoyed the beautiful presentations of all of our meals. Food was mediocre. Avocados in guacamole were overripe. Whole Fish was fried not grilled as described on the menu. The quality of the food and margaritas has plummeted. Apparently everyone but I knew this because the restaurant was 1/4 empty on a Saturday at 7pm. You used to have to wait 1/2 hour for a table. Service was good. The Server was excellent. She explained why the menu changed. Ambience was not lively and entertaining as it was in the past. The real disappointment were the margaritas, watery slushies. That was my last visit. Mi Ranchito is my favorite Mexican food place in Rohnert Park/Cotati. The food is always fresh and delicious. The portion sizes are big so you get a lot of bang for your buck. I often have leftovers after a meal here. They have a large menu with a variety of options including some good seafood and vegetarian options too. I usually go for their combo plate and get enchiladas and rice and beans too. They do get busy as this is a very popular spot so either go early or join the waitlist on Yelp so when you arrive you can get a table without a long wait. They recently remodeled the Cotati location and it looks amazing inside and is very modern. They also have patio seating outside. read more

First, I wiped the table down, had to ask for an ice tea refill since our waiter was MIA for the whole meal and it wasn't even busy! Had to get my own utensils from the bar area. TERRIBLE service and the food was awful. My 90 year old mom ordered tortilla soup and mentioned it was very salty, I tasted it once we were back home and that is an understatement, it is uneatable - $16 waste of money. The food was really fresh, and Mi Ranchito does some very unique preparations that really were refreshing - not the same boring cookie-cutter Mexican you often find. This is my second time coming here, and both times have been great. The first time it was very hot in the summer but they had umbrella seating outside which made it quite pleasant. The second time it was cold and we sat inside where there was a fireplace. I also really enjoyed the murals painted on the walls. It's a nice touch. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food came out fast but we were there during a slow time. The salsa is excellent with the perfect amount of spice. I am a pansy and can't take too much spice but I don't like bland salsa either. It was very flavorful. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they are coated with a red sauce that is very tasty. My husband had the mole and he was also quite pleased with his food. The Al Pastor burrito had very little meat but was full of rice and beans so picture a rice and bean super burrito without the produce, cheese, guacamole and sour cream . We came in during one of the hottest days of the year (100+ degrees). The food was delicious. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Loved the little pyramids of rice. Everything was flavorful and tasty, and a filling meal. My friends ordered the fajitas and the cheese quesadilla, along with mango and lime margaritas (not pictured, but beautiful)! The only con is that the A/C was not that strong and that coupled with the pure heat and stickiness of sitting on a black booth seat really became uncomfortable after a while and we had to hurry out after our meal. I do very much enjoy this place for the energy And their drinks. Their food is ok- I've defiantly had more authentic but it does satisfy the craving. The one negative side to this place is they also forget something. Whether you ask to add something to your good or exchange something they always forget and then have to remake it. For the photos looking so fancy and good...the food and service was okay. We got seated quickly which was nice cause it was busy. However, the rice & beans were barely warm. My enchilada was okay...I have definitely had better in the area. The margarita was very tasty! Our server was nice, not very personable. However she did good!
