The worst manicure I have ever received. I had a few gel nails that had not come off. Manicurist tried to peel one off with a fake nail. I told him it hurt and he then put the nail polish remover and aluminum foil on but didn't want to wait so then used the electric tool to sand off the nail. He then soaked my hands for a minute and filed but didn't not cut the cuticles . Polished and later charged me $28 for the 15 minute manicure. First he said $33 and I got so outraged that he changed to $28 . I don't live in Boone but have had many manicures and never one like this for an outrageous amount of money . read more

We just returned to the area and we are staying in West Jefferson. I tried the place close to me and I also tried the new nail place in Boone at New Market. Both were good. I had to come back to Mi Nails and I'm so happy I did. For me, they set the standard for SNS dip nails. I'm always so pleased with the French manicure because it's so simple and clean looking. Amy did a great job. I also had a pedicure by Amy and it was so relaxing. My feet were in dry shape and felt like "Velcro feet" but Amy took care of that. They don't listen to what you want. My daughter just left she asked for tips with GEL polish he kept saying ok but kept putting on DIP she asked repeatedly for him to stop she wanted gel and he kept going ignoring her. I went in hoping to enjoy a nice relaxing professional pedicure. I asked for the upgraded more expensive pedicure w/foot scrub, 'callous' removal, massage, etc. Dang!! I'm leaving more anxious than I was coming in!! She rushed through this pedicure-with NO attention to detail whatsoever!!! And was finished, other than painting my nails within 16 minutes!!! The dirtiest nail salon I have ever been to in North Carolina. They do not sterilize/ sanitize their silver tools, or nail files. None of the drill bits used were new, none of the buffing blocks or files were new. There was nasty residue, splatters of who knows what, and acrylic dust from prior clients everywhere, in which not a single chair station was clean. Nail technician was decent, but never washed anything or our hands in the process. Prices on website are not accurate at all, and they try to scam you for $10 or $20 extra dollars, whatever they can get. read more

I am from out of town and came in needing a repair, I have my own polish with me at all time just in case I need it. I came in and asked if they could fix my nail, no problem. He asked me if it was powder like acrylic and I told him no it's ibd gel. He proceeded to act like I didn't know what I was talking about and like gel is a foreign concept. So Instead of fixing my chipped nail, with gel builder they guy filed down all of the paint and gel on top of said broken nail and then plopped on a glob of gel top coat on there to fix it? He never used a form to rebuild the corner of it to make it stable, or to even look like the square nails that I have on every other finger. $5 later and in less than 15 minutes it just fell right off. Well, that figures and it was a huge waste of time and $5. So unless you are a regular client and this is the kind of service you are used to save yourself and go anywhere else. My options are limited here but I will find someone who can fix this today! Off to the next!!! read more

I needed to give 1 star or I couldn't review. I paid $38 for a deluxe pedicure. The man was fast as lightening , he barely cleaned the cuticles, and my heals were disgusting when I left. He barely sloughed the heels and with the scrub and lotion he took less than 30 seconds. I'm very unhappy and will not return. I left a 20% tip before I saw my heels when I left. Hate this place! Wish I could leave a zero! They did acrylic when I asked for gel and he put my nail on crooked and said that was my finger shape. Even if my finger was shaped that's the point of doing nails. I have been trained to do nails but was heading to a wedding and had no time to do my own nails. They charge me 70 dollars for crappy acrylic nails with a gel polish and then a week later they started spotting and chipping! I went back and he said it was my fault my nails were coming off so I asked if he could remove them. He proceeded to rip my nails off! Then charged me 10 bucks for taking them off! To properly remove artificial nails you soak them off! This place is such crap! And their sanitation sicks so if you go here and a week or two later end up with a fungus this is more than likely the cause! DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

Don't come here! The past two times I have gone to this salon to get acrylics, they have cut me multiple times on both hands. The first time, the man who did mine was rude and harsh but did provide me a $5.00 discount because of cutting several of my fingers. The second time I went (which was today) my friend and I had to wait 35 minutes to even sit down, and then, while my friend got her mani done, I had to wait another 30 minutes until someone finally came over and did mine! (Only because I asked). Then, the man cut me twice (my finger was bleeding and all) without offering any discount or apology. Meanwhile, my friend's pedicurist tried to sneak putting gel instead of regular polish so that she would pay an extra $15.00. Once my nails were finally finished and I was ready to pay, I old the lady at the checkout that my pedicurist had cut me and was wondering if they would provide a discount. She then took me over to a chair and started clipping the cut! My dad is a surgeon and YOU DO NOT CLIP CUTS, especially if the tool is not properly cleaned right before. After that, I still insisted that she give me a small discount because my finger was bleeding at the time. She then started laughing and told everyone in the store that I was asking for a discount like I was crazy. Finally, she agreed to give me $3 off. Not worth it. Do not go to this salon!!! read more

I went here last night and did a walk in for a gel manicure. A friend recommended this place after I'd had several bad experiences at the two nail salons in Banner Elk. I was so happy here. The guy really took his time, even though the salon got a little busy, they managed their customers well. Normally with a gel manicure, if the color is dark, the manicurist will still only give you two coats, well he actually put three on because he said it would look better. He then went back and filed down the edges of the polish because those tend to get sharp. The manicure is perfect. I'm not someone who gets their nails done very often because it's expensive and I'm not usually super satisfied, but Mi's may have changed my mind :) read more

During my trip to Boone, all we wanted was to get our nails done. After doing research through yelp I found this place and decided it had the best reviews . Sadly after going I quickly decided there must have been somewhere else we could've gone. I wanted to get acrylics and it was my first time so I was inexperienced, I showed the guy a picture and he said the nails were almond shaped and I was like okay thats fine because I just wanted whatever nails were in the picture. Once he starts shaping my nails they are extremely pointy and maybe some people like that but personally I do not. I asked if he could make them less pointy and told him that it was okay if they were not almond. After asking he said no almond is pointy and he continued to shape my nails, making them extremely pointy. I asked again and he said no that I would like them later. Also throughout all of this he kept telling me to stop looking at my nails and that I was making him nervous. Afterwards I said something to my mom and she asked him to fix them, I went back to him and he made them even more pointy. At this point I had given up, but thankfully this sweet women doing pedicures helped me and fixed my nails. Also he did not touch my cuticles leaving them looking like I hadn't even gotten my nails done. Two weeks later within 24 hours two of my nails have fallen off. Now I am not extremely familiar with acrylics but normally I would not expect them to fall off. I am not one to leave a bad review, but I felt it was needed. My friend and I went in a few months ago to get a manicure and pedicure for homecoming. They started doing our pedicure and we sat for so long our water got cold. I got french tip on my toes and it looked terrible and he messed up a few times. Then they started doing our nails and I had told them I wanted to get the fake nails but with gel instead of acrylic but continued to do acrylic after I told him several times not too. He was not paying attention and proceeded to file a cut into the side of my finger and it started bleeding, he was hurting me the whole time. When he was cutting the fake nails down, he was cutting into the top of my thumb and I told him and he continued to push the scissors into the top of my thumb and not being dramatic but nearly cut the tips of both my thumbs off! He started doing the acrylic and would mess up a finger and have to restart and when he was done their were bubbles in the acrylic and the nails were uneven! We paid and we're walking and my friend turned to me and goes "was it just me or did you keep getting hurt?" She was cut on her finger as well. All in all I will never return to this salon to get my nails done ever again! read more

Today with my friend and our children, we visited Mi Nails in the Boone Mall. This was our first time visiting this nail salon. I can honestly say I paid $26.00 for a pedicure that lasted 10 minutes and I paid $11.00 for my child to have her nails painted. This was the worst pedicure I have ever received. Do NOT waste your time or your money on this salon. I will never be back. The girl literally painted my nails, trimmed them, and rubbed some lotion on my legs. The worst part of the visit was my friend took her soon to be 4 year old daughter for her first mani- pedi visit. They charged her $30.00 and all they did was paint the child's nails.
