Recently had my first experience with Mi Mexico! This was a great venue with tons of seating options, great for groups (we were with 10 adults and walked in prime time Saturday and had a brief wait before being seated during a busy time!), and a pretty nice bar area. Servers and staff were helpful and friendly, and the vibe here leans towards fun party. Food was delicious - one of the best chimichangas I've had in Lexington and their homemade salsa was amazing. Very authentic flavors. I was feeling wimpy and ordered a frozen strawberry margarita instead of my normal on the rocks too shelf marg - it was so good and so BIG and refreshing after a long day being outside. My only ding was that the women's restroom wasn't super clean and there was lots of water on the floor. After half a margarita, I almost slipped and feel going in and out of the ladies room. The restaurant was busy so I suspect this was not normal and just the result of a busy rush. We will definitely be back! read more

It had been a long time since I had been to this restaurant but a friend insisted to give it another try. So i was treated by a non-English speaking person who tried to seat me. I had a question about who was the server but they couldn't understand what I was asking. It took 3 others and a manager to be able to tell me if the server was a male or a female. I finally got seated and ordered my food. I ordered the grande burrito and it was anything but grande. It was supposed to have rice and beans in it but it did not. The server went to get the rice and beans and I proceeded to dress the burrito with the lettuce and sour cream on the plate. Then a bug crawls out from under my burrito and onto the top. Obviously I didn't eat this and the server took it back. I gave them another chance and ordered a mixed fajita with non peppers. It finally arrives but FULL of peppers. I explained to the server this is not what I ordered and they kept telling me it was. Then they noticed the peppers. I'm Not sure why servers never check the food before they bring it out to make sure it's as ordered but they never do. It would make the experience a lot better for everyone. They offered to remake it but I decided that my experience was bad enough and my friend was almost done eating at this point as well. The manager never came out to talk to me or apologize or anything. I did not have to pay anything but I feel like someone should have came out and at least said I'm sorry. For that reason and the obvious they get a 1 star. I will not be going back here probably ever. read more

This place has been around for so long! I remember it when I was younger. Moving back to Lexington I didn't think it was open anymore, but it was and now I know why! The decor is still bright and colorful and the staff are still really nice. The chips were hit and perfect and the salsa was good. I ordered the CARNITAS MICHOACÁN and the pork actually was super dry.. I was disappointed but everything else in my meal was delicious. This will not detour me from visiting again and trying another dish. I was debating between this dish and another one so it gives me a chance to go back and try the other dish. By far the worst experience I have had. Order $40 worth of food for pick up. Got to the restaurant asked for the pick up they handed us a tied bag with what we thought had our food in it. Drove across town to find out it wasn't our order. We called to let them know and to get a refund as it was food that we was no way gonna eat and they refused and told us it was our fault. I asked for a supervisor and she refused then told us that if we was to come in she would call the cops. Worst customer service I have ever had at any establishment and cannot believe the way we was treated and talked to. Not to mention I still did not get a refund. Best restaurant during this trip to Lexington. Nice building with a lovely mosaic at the door with their name. Parking lot could use some work but that's the complex owner. Interior was bright, comfy chairs and large tables. The waiter was enjoyable and helpful. My companion liked that he spoke Spanish. Acapulco fajitas were amazing! Grilled pineapple, shrimps, scallops and fish with the traditional peppers and onions. And so much of it. Two of us ate it and still had food left. Companion had steak tacos. They were devoured quickly so he helped with the fajitas. Both were served with the usual beans and rice and toppings. All very good. Only misstep was the mango margarita. Wasn't a huge fan. This is not the best mexican restaurant in town. They do offer things on the menu that you can't find at other places, like mole and carnitas. I ordered the mole pablano, which if you haven't had mole before, it's a thick chocolate sauce with spices in it. It is not suppose to be sweet and shouldn't have a heavy chocolate flavor. Unfortunately, the mole was a bit sweet and had a serious chocolate flavor. I want to say my abuela makes better, but honestly, everyone's grandma makes better food than you can find in a restaurant. The margaritas are good and strong. And the health department score is 99. Over all, I'm not going to stop going here because it's so close to my house, however it's not the most fantastic food I have ever eaten. read more

This place used to be a regular restaurant we would visit a few times a month, but it has REALLY gone downhill the past 6 months. I've learned it was bought out and has new owners, but can't confirm this is the reason. I usually order the beef chimichanga and the past 3 visits, the beef was literally burnt to a crisp. It was so bad, that it tasted like the leftover meat you scrape off of the grill after cooking. I've also tried the taco salad and the grease made it nearly inedible because the shell became disgusting mush.. Our waitress was downright rude and seemed annoyed like she simply didn't want to be there during our last visit Also, my stomach was upset for 2 days afterwards. Ok, I'm going to 'eat crow' here. I was quite harsh on them 5 years ago. Since that review, I'm reminded of it each time I've checked in. It never fails, anytime I leave it up to a friend or business associate to decide where to eat, they choose here and I must admit that everything I've ordered has been delicious. The chicken Cancun used to be my go to here, but since I'm trying to stray away from the past, today I ordered the cheese steak burrito and it was phenomenal! The steak was tender and the burrito was huge! The pico and the cheese sauce were great too. You know when cheese sauce is thin and runny? Yeah, I hate that. Here, it's thick and perfect. My rating was based on my experience today in this restaurant. We stumbled on this place because it's the closest from where we were, and we were hungry. The exterior of the restaurant seemed appealing- really cool since it feels authentic going inside a Mexican restaurant. Even the inside was interesting- as you can tell of the pictures I'm sharing. It's almost lunch, and the restaurant seemed to get crowded, but we did not wait long to be seated. Once we were seated, a wait staff come right away to get our drink orders, I asked for a mango tequila which I did not get- I think our waiter forgot about it, I have to ask for it again in time for dessert. I ordered the Texana Fajitas, my daughter ordered the Vegetarian Fajitas and my husband got the chicken wings. Everything was delicious. I really appreciate good food, and the portions are huge! My fajitas alone can be good for 2-3 people. We have plenty of leftovers for dinner or lunch the next day. Overall, I like this place 5/5 for the food and decor. My rating should be 4.5 due to the wait staff not having anything to write costumers' orders and forgetting it. Also, don't expect a good margarita- it was premixed. read more

Although it was just lunch, I have to say this place rocks! The food was fantastic and quick but the superstar was my server Nataly! This young lady was spectacular, friendly on top of everything start to finish and very polite. The restaurant was clean and organized and the manager even stopped by my table. I miss the old, quaint Mi Mexico - the new one is sprawling and a little bit 'cold' by comparison, but essentially the same. We had a super friendly server, who screwed up my order but was very apologetic and quick to get it resolved. We actually caught the end of the UK game there and it was on every TV in the bar! The fajita quesadilla never disappoints, and unlike other places, they don't up-charge to mix two proteins (shrimp and steak, in my case). I also really like their chips. The draft beer selection seemed right for game night, and they had a surprising number to choose from. Everything was well-portioned and priced. read more

This place is always packed; so my husband and I decided to give it a try. When we walked into the restaurant, we were bombarded with a Lysol smell...perhaps they just cleaned the floors before they opened for lunch. Either way, it's very unpleasant to smell that instead of tasty food. Our waiter was very nice and patient with us. He gave us our drinks immediately and gave us time to look over the menu. He gave us chips and salsa. The chips were very bland, we put salt on them to taste better.....and the SALSA!! Ummm. It was disgusting!! I've never had salsa that tasted like shrimp before. We each took a bite and spit it back out. We asked the waiter for some pico de gallo instead; and he willingly obliged. We both got our food. I ordered 4-style enchiladas: which had a cheese enchilada, a bean enchilada, a chicken enchilada and a beef enchilada. The cheese and bean enchiladas were ok to eat....tolerable honestly; but the chicken and beef enchiladas were disgusting and very dry. (See the chicken and beef enchilada pictures I took....the beef looks so bizarre). I took one bite of each and spit them out. My husband ordered carnitas which were bland and dry. Overall....we don't understand why this place is so busy when we pass it. It was some of the worst Mexican food we have ever had. Won't be coming back at all. read more

The food and the atmosphere of Mi Mexico was very welcoming and warm. We were seated immediately and brought chips/ salsa soon after. Our waitress was friendly and quick with the drinks and refills. My BF and I ordered the Acapulco Fajitas, which are seafood and pineapple fajitas, to share. The food came after about 20 minutes and was hot and yummy. My only complaint was the waitress didn't seem fully there. She didn't bring us any plates even after she dropped off the food. We had to ask her for some, and then she just brought me one. We had to ask her for another and by then we had finished the tortillas. We were supposed to get extra, as we ordered them in the beginning, so the first few minutes of our meal were very disorganized. Other than that, the experience was enjoyable. Instead, we were seated in the middle of two families with small, sometimes crying, children. The section in the back was empty but we were told it was reserved for a party. It remained empty during our entire visit. Speaking of service, our waiter was a bit absent for much of the visit. Luckily, there was another waiter that was able to step in when we called him over. For service, 3 stars. I ordered a grande burrito with ground sirloin. From the description, I expected the rice (I nixed the beans) to be on the side but it was stuffed in the burrito. No biggie, just unexpected. It was smothered in cheese dip, so I was happy. The best thing was the pitcher of blue frozen margaritas. Wow, those things pack a punch! Three of us were filling our glasses from the pitcher, and it yielded about two and a half margaritas a piece. Not too bad for $22. The food/drinks I give 5 stars. Combined with the 3 star service, you have my 4 star rating. As I went to pay, I located the health department score. They received a 97, which is pretty good. read more

Checked out this place for the first time last night and LOVED it! The setup of the restaurant is great, with tables in the middle and nicely closed off booths around the edge. There's TONS of space in here. Our waiter was super nice and not bothered at all by the 1000 requests we made. Our food came out so quickly that I legitimately told them it may be someone else's because it seemed too quick to be ours. It was AWESOME. The food was great and the dessert was HEAVENLY, and absolutely huge. 10/10, will be returning. read more

I'm in the area for work and wanted a dinner outside the hotel. I decided to pick a restaurant the old fashion way- by asking my cab driver where I could get some good Mexican food. He suggested Mi Mexico. Naturally I immediately yelped the restaurant. Very mixed reviews giving me the impression this will be a classic "hit or miss" place. Luckily I came in on a hit night. Fantastic service-over the top friendliness by all staff I encountered. I brought work with me, sat outside on the patio and the servers were happy to serve instead of annoyed that they had a one person table who was going to be there for awhile. I ordered the cheese sauce enchiladas, suggested by the waitress and it was very tasty. I followed the meal with a dessert, cinnamon pineapple chimi. Best dessert I have had in awhile.
