This is hands down the dirtiest restaurant I've ever walked in and right out of. I've traveled to Laos, Thailand and even India and the street food in those countries is Michelin star quality compared to this stain on the town of beech mtn. The health score is 3 points high enough to keep them open. If you have small kids don't eat here. It's a shame that places like this are able to stay open. I've been to various restaurants on the mountain and we visitors can all agree it gets expensive because of the tourist prices. Mi Jalisco is the only restaurant I've been to so far that doesn't burn a hole in your wallet. I'm not sure what's up with the bad reviews for this place. If you want Mexican and you're at Beech Mountain, this is your spot. Otherwise, you can drive all the way down the mountain to Banner Elk. There were only 2 servers there when we arrived and one other party. The place looked empty and it was absolutely freezing in there. Coming from the slopes on a whiteout day, we wanted to eat before heading back to our condo to take a break. We actually had to put our ski coats back on while we were eating because it was so cold in there. While the food wasn't the best Mexican I had, it hit the spot after a couple hours on the slopes. My kids thought it was wonderful. So much that my daughter wanted to go back there the next day. The next time I'm in the area, I will give Mi Jalisco my business. read more

There chips weirdly enough tasted like cardboard, there was no air conditioning, there was one waitress and even the place only being us there we still couldn't get water. My brothers food came out with steak instead of chicken on it and it only had steak inside of a tortilla. My friend DIDN'T EVEN GET HER FOOD!!!! After two hours of sitting in that restaurant we had to go up to the bar and pay, because no one was coming around. WE NEEDED TO GET OUT OF THERE. I've never had such an all around terrible experience. Starting from the rushed and impatient server who made us feel completely unwelcomed. He seriously gave us 30 seconds to order, and then would walk away mid order, I was already starving so I did not have the energy to drive back down the mountain to find something else or we would've left. I really really wish, I would've left. Everything was burnt. EVERYTHING tasted like it came off the same burnt pot. The burritos are a La carte so you have to remember to order beans and rice separately. Which would've been fine if the rice wasn't hard and the beans weren't burnt. My sister got a fajita. It was burnt My nieces for burgers they were dry and burnt. The server never checked on us, obviously. Never asked us how the meal was just dropped the food and left. Please trust the negative reviews! We did not and greatly regretted it. Not being facetious, this was the worst meal I have ever had at a sit-down restaurant (2 of the other 3 people in my group agreed). First, the service was abysmal. We walked in and the only employee in sight, sitting at one of the tables, grunted at us and pointed to the side dining room. We took this to mean "seat yourself" so we did. After a few minutes of no one coming to our table my friend went to the host stand and grabbed menus for us. The service never improved after this. Now to the really terrible part: the food. To start, the chips were stale and the salsa was nothing more than tomato paste and water. Not even a dash of salt or pepper, nevermind garlic or cilantro. Next we ordered house margaritas which tasted like they had either used sour mix that had gone bad or had used bourbon instead of tequila (I like bourbon but who puts that in a margarita instead of tequila?!?). For entrees my husband and I ordered ground beef dishes that had absolutely NO FLAVOR. Again, clearly not even a grain of salt was used. The tortillas were stale and the cheese was just shredded cheddar thrown on top and barely melted. One friend ordered the fajitas which she said weren't too bad although again the tortillas were stale. I suppose if I were forced to return I would order that. I have been to Mi Jalisco several times and think it deserves a better rating. It is not the absolute best mexican i have ever had in my life however it is on the very top of a mountain and better than other options in the area. I like the burritos and tacos, but don't care for the queso with beef dip (to much beef and little queso) or the chille rellano as it is not stuffed like most places. We came by last night for dinner and it was so... just bad that we left and ate elsewhere. 1. They pointed to a table but didn't bring menus until we went to ask for them. 2. Table condiments looked untouched and petrified. We don't typically use table condiments at a Mexican place so we stayed still... 3. After 20 mins, no server, no chips and salsa, no acknowledgement. Any good review must have been paid for! Before we entered the facility a couple leaving said (don't waste your money or time) wished we had listened. To start the Language barrier was so thick I had to ask seated guest "do I sit myself or wait to be seated", now the fella coughing with a mask on as he sat down our silverware wasn't as concerning as they in all seriousness do not understand English so having a fluent Spanish speaking adult with us was helpful. As we order I hear the table next to us make a complaint about her food as her daughter said (mom no, it will take to long to correct) so she kept the Luke warm dish.. Next the food!! the beans were not refired they were liquified, the spoon full of rice was minute maid rice from a bag IYKYK! The food was so bad I don't have time to explain how bad, but I laughed out loud and annoying as I could, I looked at the man and said Were not paying for one damn plate at this table, I took my plate tot the register w. me and laughed at the mans face... He knew, he was just doing his job. I paid for the margaritas, and we left and ordered Chinese down the mountain. It would make sense to say this place is a coverup for something because you literally will not find a worse Mexican food restaurant in North America.. Okay so picture this: You and your friend plan a cabin trip to the mountains, you both are excited and then the day finally comes! The weather turns good to bad on the way there--rain, wind, darkness and flash flooding, and to top it off the only two ways to get to the cabin are flooded. What do you do? Book a one night stay at a hotel and have a delicious dinner after an exhausting day!! Attached to the hotel is this small restaurant. We got there at night and the staff were so friendly to greet and serve us. The waiter checked up on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered something small since it was a late dinner--Chicken Quesadilla and a side of refried beans. This was just what I needed after the day I had. I felt energized again. The food came out so fast and hot, it warmed me up right away. The chicken was juicy and had a lot of flavor and the tortilla was nice and toasted. Some places I've been to the tortilla is soggy..ew. The reviews are legit this place is not good. Service was not bad but the food was rough. Taco Bell is an improvement over the quality we received tonight. Chips were stale, the chilli relleno was just ground beef on top of sliced green peppers. Taco salad was a watery soupy mess. Service was terrible, and I asked for carne asada to be cooked well done, but came out basically raw aside from the outside of the meat being cooked. My party ordered 5 plates of carne asada, 4 of them coming out raw. I could have just bitten a chunk out of a cow and would have gotten the same thing. My family's favorite type of food is Mexican. And this by far is the best Mexican food we've had! (And no it wasn't because we were just hungry. Lol. We actually said we weren't super hungry and wanted something light, but couldn't pass up Mexican food.) It is very reasonably priced. Especially compared to restaurants where we are originally from. I wish I had pictures of the food. But it was too good to pause and take pictures! We might visit again before our stay is over! The staff was friendly, quick and efficient. Our food came out much quicker than I expected. Everything was fresh and well seasoned! This place depending on which table you get. Has the ability to have nice views as well. I have not eaten at such a bad restaurant in a long time. My personal dish (pollo loco) was passable (2.5 out of 5 stars) but multiple of my companions had barely edible food. Many of the dishes were cold and/or bland. The refried beans tasted stale. The sweet tea tasted stale and the OJ was mostly water and ice. Various of the sauces on the table were WELL past the best by date. The restrooms were filthy. There was a dead spider in the men's room. Windows were grubby and there were cobwebs throughout the restaurant. Service was great but that is the only good thing I can say about this place. The food was pretty good. A little spicy for my taste but all you have to do is ask while ordering which I did not and they were very accommodating. We changed tables 3x's bc our party kept growing and the staff was very courteous and patio with us. Some of the dishes we had that were good: chicken quesadilla, shrimp cocktail, chicken salad, fajita and no complain! Plenty of food for price. Y'all! Went there tonight, and wasn't terribly hungry so I didn't expect to love it - but we LOVED it! Authentic Mexican food- lots of food and a great price! My husband got the fajitas- and they were soooo good. And there was so much food that we could have easily split it. The corn tortillas were homemade and some of the best corn tortillas that this Texas girl has ever had! We also had tacos and quesadillas at the table and all were so delicious. The hot sauce was wonderful and I'm super picky about hot sauce. The chips weren't as thin as I love but they were pretty good! All in all- we loved it and ate until we couldn't eat anymore! We got looked over everytime. They ran out of chips and queso. We heard about there not being queso but the workers said they didn't know. Then proceeded to bring food with no queso. Half of us would have not ordered what we did if we knew for a fact there was a no queso. To top it off, as we were leaving a table was served chips, salsa, and queso. When we asked about it, they said nothing. This place is a joke. Also the whole place is dirty. There's no way it would even pass a health inspection. We were a party of 9, we arrived at around 6:30, we didn't get sit until around 7:15, and we didn't get our food until 8:30. The kids burgers were RAW, and the rest of the food was pretty mediocre. The waitress came to our table maybe two times, we had to get up to ask for our water refills, chip refills and everything else. Getting to the restaurant requires going on up stairs (from side entrance) or downstairs (from 4 Seasons Hotel lobby). Once there, you definitely get a Mexican atmosphere. The menu choices are interesting and not necessarily what you normally find, so, we had trouble making our choices. Our waitress was 'in training' and didn't get our order exactly right but it didn't matter as the food was very good. When we left, I forgot my credit card. It was a couple days before realizing I had left it. When I did come back, they graciously handed it to me. I highly recommend coming here. You know, sometimes you just want some Mexican. Well last night was the night. I did a quick review and found this place. I must admit I went in with not high hopes. I'm glad I took the chance. The food was spot on, very flavorful and tasty. I had the Taco and Enchilada combo and my wife had the Burrito Deluxe. It was great. It wasn't busy when we arrived but soon it began filling up. My drink never dried up the service was good. The only "complaint" I had is that I was overfilled, but that was due to my total lack of control and big portion sizes, lol.
