This is one of our new favorite places. Mi Casa is clean (they scored 97), the service is great, and the food is fantastic. We arrived after lunch and had drinks and warm chips with salsa on the table in less than 90 seconds. We both ordered stew taco salad. It was fantastic! I'll be back. I'm five stars today--I experienced nothing to take away from this place except satisfaction and good food. Plus...I'd give them six stars if I could because at least one of the one star ratings was an obvious joke and does nothing to help the Yelp community. read more

Given the area and the location, Mi Casa is pretty A-Ok. I have dined here a few times running from school practices to work and everywhere in between. The service is typically always good, and they actually do have the liquor licenses even tho it is in Madison County. If you stick to the plain jane menu, like a grilled chicken burrito, or chicken and rice it is just the normal food that you would get at any Mexican restaurant. The Cheese dip is a little bit thinner than others, but the salsa is really good. Ordering to-go can be a hit or miss, I've ordered a chicken and rice to go, and it came with maybe 5 small pieces of chicken and they forgot the cheese sauce. I have ordered it again and it came with more than enough chicken and tons of cheese sauce. So I guess it depends on the cook for the evening regarding the to-go plates. They are very accommodating if you are on a diet restriction or if you have diet preferences. For instance I have been able to order a taco salad without the shell all dumped on a plate and it was wonderful. Overall, it is a great place if you are short on time and in the area wanting some Mexican food. I would drive out of my way to eat here, but if I am in the area, I would stop by for a meal. read more

We love this quaint little restaurant! By far the best quality of food for the price. The salsa has a bit of a spicy kick to it. Lots of chips & dip. The food has always been out within 10 minutes of our order. The specialty plates are consistent in flavor & appearance! Ceviche was delicious once again! We drive all the way out here from Owens cross roads. Reading the reviews on this really surprised me. Would recommend to any friends. It's a clean place and you don't leave wreaking of Mexican food. Of course you will get the generic rice and beans because you're in Alabama looking for Mexican food. The service was good and friendly. The food very par. My fajitas seemed to have the powder flavoring sprinkled on and not cooked down to mix. (Just a bit here and there) Street tacos need some work. Our refried beans were bathing in oil/lard. Rice had oil/lard overbearing taste. Mediocre run of the mill Mexican food. Not sure how long they will stay in business with Las Trojas right up the road. My fajitas were burnt my wife's enchiladas were a "3.5 out of 5". Prices were actually a little more than other options nearby. Our waiter was great. I never had a moment of waiting for him to come back. The manager/owner stopped by the table for a quick "is everything delicious?". There was a local musician playing "Latin and American music" there were certainly several cringe worthy moments there. A midi backed version of "ring of fire" comes to mind. Overall if you're considering this place I'd say drive the extra 3 minutes up the road to Las Trojas. Better atmosphere cheaper beer and food. Went to Mi Casa today (22 Feb 2022) to place a "to go order" (no one was there placing an order but me). I was troubled by the young lady who waited on me. She told me how much it was for the order and I gave her the money in her hand and in return she placed my change on the counter, which is a no no and shows disrespect. I left the money on the counter, she bought me my order and I walked out. I've been in Alabama for 13 years and never have I encountered this type of disrespect. I will not return and will not recommend others to go there either. read more

Honest reviewer here: When Mi Casa was taken over by new management, we went there often. If the servers were busy, the manager stepped in to help. We loved this place and recommended it to others. However, our most recent experience will keep us from ever going back. It was an hour til close, we got in, knew what we wanted when the server first walked over to us. Put in our order, and I ordered a margarita. Took him a little bit to bring over the margarita, and we sat there waiting on our food to come (about 30 minutes). He never checked in on us throughout this time. After the food arrived, I asked for another margarita to have with my meal. He said, and I quote, "Can you finish it in 30 minutes because we are closing?". My husband and I were in such shock, we just sat there and stared at each other. Now mind you, I was a server for 6 years. I'm the customer that tips every server the cost of the check or more, so I get when a server is having a bad day. No, this guy was just rude. He brought me the 2nd margarita, which had black stuff floating in it. I tried to flag him down, but he ignored me. He and his fellow server friend went to the corner of the room, sat in a table, snickered, and kept looking at us but wouldn't come over. About 10 minutes before they "closed" he drops off the check without saying a word. My husband and I were discussing what to do because we didn't feel like he deserved the best tip, but we also felt like management should know about what happened. Not 2 minutes after he dropped the check off, he came back by and said, "is the check ready?". Triple shocked at the audacity of this server. My husband gives him the card, and he comes back quickly and drops it off. While we are discussing the bill and what to do, he comes BACK BY and says, "have you finished, so I can take it?". My heart was racing. I was so incredibly knocked off my feet by how pushy he was to get out. We ended up tipping 15% (regretting the decision afterwards) and while we were walking out, my husband confronted him about the quality of service, telling him that he felt rushed and not taken care of. All he did was retaliate instead of apologize. Later that evening, I messaged Mi Casa and asked the manager to contact me. I never received a call/email/nothing. So, that's why I'm leaving this review. No more recommendations for this restaurant. read more

1, because I can't put a half star. Chips and salsa were the ONLY highlight, aside from our caucasian female waitress attempting Spanish-"A" for effort (it was in your tip). Sorry, but nobody around here (Huntsville area) can make Mexican food. I'm from South Texas and my wife is from Mexico. Don't eat out Mexican much because we do it ourselves, but we decided to take a break for once...WHAT A MISTAKE! If you are not making homeade corn or flour tortillas, then your not even trying. Hot store bought tortillas is what you'll get here. (yuck) The beans from here taste like any other out-of-the-can variety. Fajitas with no seasoning!!! (Nacho Libre style-"Where's de flavor?") Rice...at least there was color (from seasoning) and salt. Drinks...Great job on having the Jarritos in stock. I'd be stunned if you had Joyas, though. I tip my sombrero for the big variety of Mexican beers. A place to go if you want a good Mexican beer with chips and salsa. Sorry, will not be returning. read more

I consider myself to be "mexican food specialist". I could eat mexican food 7 days a week and never tire of it. Where to start....from the moment we all walked in the door, until we left, it was a wonderful experience. Our server went above and beyond. We were a large, noisy group and she didn't miss a beat. The manager (Chris, I think?) stopped by to ensure our dinner was what we expected. Ladies, he's also as CUTE as he is charming. This man knows customer service....worth a drive just to check him out :) FYI: I'm old enough to be his mother AND very happily married. I loved their chips and salsa. Cheese dip was a bit spicy, but had a great snap. I really enjoyed it. Great beer selection! We really enjoyed the privacy of their large private dining area for groups. I'm sure the other guests were thankful they stuck us there, lol. it is in the north 40, but worth a drive....we'll be going back! read more

I usually dont write bad reviews. I have eaten there before, but today was the biggest disappointment. I picked the Mi Casa Enchiladas and my wife got the supreme. It was the worst Mexican food I've ever had. The shrimp was cut up , almost minced and in 3 Enchiladas about the amount of 1 norma and they tasted so bad I threw it out. l. The portions where slim compared to normal. For the amount that we spent wasn't worth it. I have had better Mexican food from frozen dinner. So disappointing. I was trying to support local, but should have went to Taco bell for some better tasting food and for what I spent could have fed 6. read more

We have been proudly eating at Mi Casa since it opened over 2 years ago. We have always been treated so wonderfully and are definitely considered "regulars." We have always enjoyed our food, and though sometimes the experience wasn't always what we were used to, the owner Lency has always strived to make sure any wrong was righted and that each customer is treated with respect. We often go on Sundays for lunch, where your table gets a free cheese dip if you present your church bulletin from that morning! We always order the fajitas for two, and that is plenty to feed our family of four. Our kids LOVE the cheese dip (so do we), and we have always loved the seasonings on the fajitas. Sometimes, we eat here 2 times a week. We also LOVE a special dessert that isn't listed on the menu but that you should always ask for: chocolate chip chimichangas. Absolutely to DIE for! I recently tried the chicken chimichanga as a meal, and I really enjoyed it. I LOVE their guacamole, too! Lency is also very community-oriented and loves to help local schools, organizations, youth groups, etc. She has graciously hosted a Mi CAsa night for our March of Dimes team 2 years in a row and donated 10% of the night's proceeds to our team. She has supported our local schools and sports teams and is always willing to reach out and help others. The staff is almost always very polite and attentive. We almost never have an empty cup, and we always get our food in a very timely manner (even with a large group, we don't wait a very long time). There is a small room for private meals and gatherings, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. With any restaurant, you might not always have a great experience, but you definitely should give the manager/owner a chance to wrong any rights by informing them of a negative experience you have. Lency has always been quick to handle any complaints and strives to provide an atmosphere with employees who are kind, respectful, and good at what they do. If you do not express your concerns, you should not be posting a negative review, because you haven't given the restaurant a fair chance to fix the problems. The quality of food is better than most other Mexican restaurants, and the prices are very reasonable. I would recommend this place to ANYONE! read more

The BEST Mexican food that we've had in a while! We had the Extravaganza Enchiladas & the Steak Tampiqueno. Both were INCREDIBLE! We had enough leftovers for another meal. Evidentially you can't give a review without at least giving 1 star. If I was just writing a review based on the food, I would give them 5 stars. However when it comes to service I would give them -5 stars. The wait staff has to be the WORST I have EVER come in contact with. They never come ask if you need drink refills until your meal is about complete. If you try to flag them down they ignore you and walk right by your table. I would have to say the worst ones being the blonde waitress and the older female waitress. Either their wait staff makes more money than the average or they don't care about tips. The owner of this establishment needs to make some serious changes by either training their staff properly or just cleaning house replacing all of them. If they aren't going to do that, they should consider having larger drink cups and salsa bowls. read more

We absolutely love this place! The staff is always super friendly and provides excellent service. The entire facility is always super clean. This is a great family friendly place and has wonderful food as well. I recommend the pablano dip and anything with steak in it, it is so tender and seasoned perfectly.
