We went to Fuego because we heard this is not just another knock-off TexMex restaurant. Here is what we discovered... Fuego's offers all of the standard flare items you need in a Mexican food service, so I'm not going to focus on that in this review. We arrived around 5:30pm and were plesantly surprised to find they have a Happy Hour! For starters we had chips and both the red salsa and Jalapeno ranch dip. The $5 Margaritas were good and were made properly with lime juice NOT the orange mix a lot of restaurants default too. Since this is our first visit to this place, we ordered from the Mexican specialty AND a "standard" plate. We also had a grandchild with us and I'll get to that later. The Shrimp Burrito dinner was a large plate and included rice and beans. The Burrito was stuffed with grilled shrimp, and I mean stuffed. It was very nice, with excellent flavor. The spice level was good for us but if you need intense levels ask for hot sauce extra. The second dinner was from the Yucatan region and was Cochinita Pibil. This marinated and roasted pork dish was packed with flavor. The pickled red onions were substituted with a spring mix with avacado and a tangy lime dressing. Rice and beans came on a second hot plate. These dinners were very satisfying and exemplified the regional specialities of cuisine. The kids meal... of course it was Taco Tuesday! It was awsome that the kitchen customized our fussy eaters palette with an awsome beef taco, no lettuce, no tomatoes, no onions... just beef and cheese! French fries of course, and for dessert a scoop of ice cream with chocolate sauce. This 7 year old boy was in heaven! I highly recommend Fuego's for their authentic regional Mexican dinners, served in a friendly very clean environment. The food is excellent and priced fairly. We judged this at a high value for your money. We're planning on going back to investigate many more of the specialty dishes! read more

Wow! We've been dying to eat here for ages and had heard that they had good, authentic Mexican food. We ordered the most authentic dishes we've been looking forward to...Queso Fundido con Rajas, Cochinita Pibil and Mole Poblano. Let's talk service...it wasn't that busy but service was slow. Our waitress kept forgetting everything. From sweetener to tortillas to silverware, even when we finally got our food we couldn't eat it waiting for missing things like salsa's cheese, sour cream, avocado.... Now let's talk portions...I'm not joking...our food came in what looked like thimbles. For $18 each meal we expected decent portions. So, let's talk presentation. Honestly...our food looked terrible! I've seen low budget taco trucks do better. And finally, taste....yeah...the cochinita was basically pulled pork....completely lacking in seasonings and flavour. No achiote, no citrus...bland. The mole, it tasted just like the stuff you get in jars with some toasted sesame seeds blended in. Our queso fundido starter was offered with beef, chicken, chorizo or chiles poblanos. I chose poblanos and was then asked what meat...confused I asked for steak. When the dish arrived it had only steak and I was informed they don't have chiles poblanos. So now I'm wondering what on earth they use for chiles rellenos...so it was basically melted cheese with five small slices of steak, had I know when I ordered instead of when it arrived I would have ordered something else. The peppers it's supposed to come with never arrived...we got three small tortillas to eat it with which wasn't enough so we had to finish the rest with some chips. Even the main meals were so stingy...three tiny tortillas (not regular size but the smallest you can get) so once those were gone, tough. Ambience was ok. Just ok. Am attaching pictures just in case people think I'm being difficult. If you think these tiny portions and crappy presentation are worth $18 each you need to get out more. My son ordered the empanada appetiser as his main...by far the best thing we tried. We were so disappointed...We won't be back. Taco buses serve better food. read more

We stopped by Fuego to get a bite for lunch. This building used to house Little Tokyo I believe. When you walk inside, there are goldfish swimming in a small pond. The entrance has a room to the right where the bar and kitchen are and then a larger room to the left. The interior is nicely decorated with high end vibes. I was excited to try their foods. The hostess put us to the right. We were given menus to browse. It took a few minutes before anyone showed up to ask what we would like to drink. There was confusion as to whether the bar tender would take our orders or if wait staff would walk over to take our orders the bar tender took our drink order. We were served tortillas chips with a jalapeño ranch sauce and a tomato based salsa. Their tomato based salsa to me was very tomato heavy with little spice. The jalapeño ranch was good. Michelada was on my mind do we ordered one. I really hate to say this was the worst Michelada I have ever had but it was. The mix tasted like a powder type versus anything I have seen bottled. 2/5 I ordered lunch chicken fajitas. For the first time I saw a platter designed for fajitas with slots for lettuce, pico, sour cream, and cheese. From a look perspective this matched the high end look of the interior. The chicken fajitas were ok. Nothing special and really bland. 3/5 Birria tacos was the other lunch order. The tacos were beautifully presented. There wasn't much meat inside and the consommé was on the bland side. Missing was the exciting tingle from blended peppers and spices. 3/5 The ambiance here is great for a special date night. The prices are higher than most places that serve this type of cuisine. Overall I give 3/5. I will return to try other foods. read more

Happy hour Margaritas are $5. They were good - definitely a great value. And that's about where good ends. We got our margs quickly but our friends didn't receive their drinks until after our meals were served. The chips were basic, out of the food service box quality. The salsa, meh. There was a white dip that our friend liked but the rest of us didn't care for it at all. The same friend asked for a salsa that had more heat. The green salsa they brought didn't even phase me. He asked for something different. The server promised it was hot. It wasn't. The sad part is that he was charged $2.50 for the two tiny cups of mediocre sauce. I had the carne asada bowl. I cannot eat raw onions and specifically asked if there were any in the bowl. No, our server assured me - they were cooked. The roasted corn? No onions. The roasted corn was actually corn salsa. Raw onions. The onions in the bowl were barely cooked - most definitely on the raw side. Once I scraped off what I couldn't eat, I had about 1/3 of the food that I was served. I've gotten to the point that I have very little patience when a server does not know what is in the food that they serve. If you don't know then go ask. My husband had the fish tacos. He added my onions to his tacos which at least gave some flavor to his food. I'm currently in the car debating what I'm going to eat when I get home. None of us will be back. read more

Chilaquiles ordered with a group of guys from work, sat 5. Plenty of room. Not crowded and nice decor though sparse - lots of wasted space but clean clean clean. Food was delish! They even gave the entire table 20% off due to prior military with 3 people. but the whole table got it so bring it up of you go. I love Mexican food. I was not feeling Fuego. So, in my opinion, if you're going to plant a Mexican restaurant by the motherships of Rosie's and Phil Sandoval's (both of which I find mediocre, at best, but others seem to love) you need to either be cheaper or better. Fuego failed at both in my experience. We had no issues getting a table, our drinks were promptly delivered, and we got the chips, salsa, white dip, and some queso. The chips weren't my favorite and almost tasted stale, the salsa had no kick or discernible flavor (some cilantro, even, would have helped), and I don't know what was in that white dip but it tasted like curdled tartar sauce--to be kind. The queso was average...again, to be kind. Better half got the chicken fajitas and it was basically Chili's fajitas--from the weird "grill marked" chicken to the pre-shredded "Mexican blend" cheese. No guac, either. He didn't have any huge complaints, but he's basically a human garbage disposal when it comes to food. I got the esmerelda seafood enchiladas and my stomach may not forgive me. I only had a few bites--the seafood tasted funky, the sauce didn't meld well with the flavors, and it tasted more like Italian food than Mexican. The rice and beans were Sysco specials, down the aforementioned sprinkle (a bare sprinkle, at that) of pre-shredded cheese. If you want faux Mexican, might as well go to Rosie's or Phil Sandoval's. If you want authentic, don't bother here. Practical notes: the restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms, and there was ample parking. Our server was great, but I saw another server literally (and on accident) drop an entire tray's worth of drinks on a table of 8. They were still waiting on chips and salsa when we left...and they arrived before we did. read more

I am not much into Mexican food but we came here because my wife wanted to check out this new business. They moved into the building where Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse was at. I ordered a plain steak burrito and told them no onions and no peppers. My wife ordered a standard chicken fajita. She complained to the server on how greasy the tortillas were so he brought out replacements. When we got the bill, she noticed they charged us $3 for the replacement tortillas. We also noticed on the bill two different totals. One amount if we paid cash and another more expensive amount if we paid with a credit card. Granted these guys are new but the owners need to accept that taking credit cards are just a fact of life and a part of doing business. But the food was good and I may come back. read more

The food was mediocre and the drink didn't come out as it was describe in the menu. I ordered the Tacos Carne Asada, the meat had no type of labor but it was tender and juicy. They put their tortillas/tacos in an aluminum cover in turn had them soggy. I ordered the cucumber Bliss that in the description on the menu said it had cucumbers slices in it. The drink came out cucumber less but it did have a cucumber syrup in it. My biggest complaint was when the bill came. I originally got the bill on the left for $37.07 and then when they brought me the change I received the one on the right. They did correct it but still didn't give the correct change in coins. read more

My friends and I tried this restaurant for the first time and it was okay. Let's start with the ambiance, it was a very traditional vibe nothing good or bad to say about that. The service was good, our server was helpful with picking what to try since it was our first time there. He recommended the Birria tacos and they were pretty good. I wouldn't say they were the best I have ever had, but not bad. My friends enjoyed their food except the nachos. They said the nachos were a little lackluster. We came for the "soft serve margs", which were delicious! However, the service was lack luster. I'll admit it was very busy, but our waitress passed us multiple times without refilling our empty drinks or chips. When food came out, multiple runners brought us the wrong food, and when our waitress returned, she complained that "the people in the back were stressing her out" and it was their fault. She also insinuated that my friend could not afford to buy our drinks, claiming that they were too expensive ($10 a piece, three of them total). Went to Fuego for the first time this past week. It was during happy hour so of course I had to try out a $5 margarita! For appetizers I ordered the Roasted Corn Queso Dip and it was by far the best thing; so filling! For our main dish I got the Make Your Own (Choose 3 Combo) with a Tostada, Ground Beef Enchilada, and Chicken Burrito. It came with a side of beans and rice; so I brought it home for leftovers. My family wanted to try the restaurant. I had a hard time finding the complete menu (with prices) online, so I included it. There are a lot of interesting sounding items on the menu but I chose fajitas because I feel like fajitas are a good option when trying a New Mexican restaurant. We did get chips, salsa and the ranch dip when arriving. The chips were a little thicker than I like and the salsa lacked flavor- it tasted more like chunky tomatoes. The ranch dip was ok. My husband ordered a burrito and he really loved it- it was enormous. My fajitas were pretty bland in flavor other than salty - the chicken reminded me of frozen chicken strips instead of something that is marinated in house. I preferred the beef even though it had very little flavor either. There was a salsa included with the fajitas and it was a little too spicy. There just didn't seem to be anything on my plate that had a great flavor. There was some guacamole included with the fajitas and it was full of avocados (which I like) but not much of anything else. The veggies were the best part of my fajitas. We will probably come again to see if we just hit it at an odd time. There was a chicken poblano soup that sounded very good- I will probably just try it if we come back. Also, there was an issue with the servers keeping drinks filled.
