We stopped by Fuego to get a bite for lunch. This building used to house Little Tokyo I believe. When you walk inside, there are goldfish swimming in a small pond. The entrance has a room to the right where the bar and kitchen are and then a larger room to the left. The interior is nicely decorated with high end vibes. I was excited to try their foods. The hostess put us to the right. We were given menus to browse. It took a few minutes before anyone showed up to ask what we would like to drink. There was confusion as to whether the bar tender would take our orders or if wait staff would walk over to take our orders the bar tender took our drink order. We were served tortillas chips with a jalapeño ranch sauce and a tomato based salsa. Their tomato based salsa to me was very tomato heavy with little spice. The jalapeño ranch was good. Michelada was on my mind do we ordered one. I really hate to say this was the worst Michelada I have ever had but it was. The mix tasted like a powder type versus anything I have seen bottled. 2/5 I ordered lunch chicken fajitas. For the first time I saw a platter designed for fajitas with slots for lettuce, pico, sour cream, and cheese. From a look perspective this matched the high end look of the interior. The chicken fajitas were ok. Nothing special and really bland. 3/5 Birria tacos was the other lunch order. The tacos were beautifully presented. There wasn't much meat inside and the consommé was on the bland side. Missing was the exciting tingle from blended peppers and spices. 3/5 The ambiance here is great for a special date night. The prices are higher than most places that serve this type of cuisine. Overall I give 3/5. I will return to try other foods.

Happy hour Margaritas are $5. They were good - definitely a great value. And that's about where good ends. We got our margs quickly but our friends didn't receive their drinks until after our meals were served. The chips were basic, out of the food service box quality. The salsa, meh. There was a white dip that our friend liked but the rest of us didn't care for it at all. The same friend asked for a salsa that had more heat. The green salsa they brought didn't even phase me. He asked for something different. The server promised it was hot. It wasn't. The sad part is that he was charged $2.50 for the two tiny cups of mediocre sauce. I had the carne asada bowl. I cannot eat raw onions and specifically asked if there were any in the bowl. No, our server assured me - they were cooked. The roasted corn? No onions. The roasted corn was actually corn salsa. Raw onions. The onions in the bowl were barely cooked - most definitely on the raw side. Once I scraped off what I couldn't eat, I had about 1/3 of the food that I was served. I've gotten to the point that I have very little patience when a server does not know what is in the food that they serve. If you don't know then go ask. My husband had the fish tacos. He added my onions to his tacos which at least gave some flavor to his food. I'm currently in the car debating what I'm going to eat when I get home. None of us will be back.

I am not much into Mexican food but we came here because my wife wanted to check out this new business. They moved into the building where Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse was at. I ordered a plain steak burrito and told them no onions and no peppers. My wife ordered a standard chicken fajita. She complained to the server on how greasy the tortillas were so he brought out replacements. When we got the bill, she noticed they charged us $3 for the replacement tortillas. We also noticed on the bill two different totals. One amount if we paid cash and another more expensive amount if we paid with a credit card. Granted these guys are new but the owners need to accept that taking credit cards are just a fact of life and a part of doing business. But the food was good and I may come back.

Excellent food, drinks, service and atmosphere. The Mixiote chicken was tender and flavorful. I was also a big fan of the hot sauce bar.

We loved our experience here. So glad to see a Mexican restaurant serving regional specialties. Huntsville needs more restaurants serving regional cuisine and less chain restaurants.

The food was mediocre and the drink didn't come out as it was describe in the menu. I ordered the Tacos Carne Asada, the meat had no type of labor but it was tender and juicy. They put their tortillas/tacos in an aluminum cover in turn had them soggy. I ordered the cucumber Bliss that in the description on the menu said it had cucumbers slices in it. The drink came out cucumber less but it did have a cucumber syrup in it. My biggest complaint was when the bill came. I originally got the bill on the left for $37.07 and then when they brought me the change I received the one on the right. They did correct it but still didn't give the correct change in coins.

Update. Went back for dinner. Ordered the seafood enchiladas again. They were $3 more than the lunch version for the same portion size. This time there was a bunch of cheese, maybe that's what the extra $$ were for. This time the seafood was overcooked. Service was still good. We had the same waitress.

My friends and I tried this restaurant for the first time and it was okay. Let's start with the ambiance, it was a very traditional vibe nothing good or bad to say about that. The service was good, our server was helpful with picking what to try since it was our first time there. He recommended the Birria tacos and they were pretty good. I wouldn't say they were the best I have ever had, but not bad. My friends enjoyed their food except the nachos. They said the nachos were a little lackluster. We also got the lobster spinach queso and it had lobster essence, but not much lobster. All in all it's good enough, but I know they could be better.

I love this French toast. Please never get rid of it!!!! I need the recipe . Brunch ends at 3pm fyi

We've been to El Vaquero twice now to play trivia. While we enjoy the clean amenities and our…read moretrivia caller, both times, we've all been incredibly unhappy with our food. The restaurant is spacious and gets loud when there's a crowd. Thankfully, there's usually a place for our larger group (6 people) to be seated comfortably. Service is very nice but slow. Trivia runs for a little over an hour and both times our food has taken about 45 minutes to come out, despite our comparatively small orders. My friend who comes to trivia does like the food here (he always gets a beef chimichanga FWIW), but everyone else has now tried several different dishes and not once been satisfied or even just not unhappy. The one shining star has been the cheese dip. It really is pretty good cheese dip, lol. The first time I ordered the chipotle chicken, which is supposed to be chicken in a chipotle sauce. I was firstly surprised and disappointed to see these were small strips of chicken rather than a chicken breast. But that would've been okay...had the chipotle sauce been decent. It had no chipotle flavor and honestly mostly just tasted like sour cream. It was very weird. My parents have tried a beef burrito, beef taco, and chicken taco. They said the beef has an unpleasant metallic taste and the shredded chicken was, according to my dad, inedible. Most recently, my husband got a carne asada burrito and said it tasted so unpleasant he was concerned about whether he should even eat it. Fortunately, no ill effects came about as a result of it; he determined it was ultimately just very low quality meat with an unpleasant texture and taste. My father in law just doesn't order anything except a beer after coming for breakfast once and having a bad time there, too. On my most recent visit, I got a side of rice and beans to eat with chips and cheese dip. The rice had been cooked into sticky, mushy lumps and had no flavor. At this point, I have no idea what to order that might even come close to satisfying my palate. It's disappointing. We may be forced back due to circumstances like our availability in order for us to play our favorite game and have time together. If so, I'll continue to try different things until I can maybe someday find something that works. I want to like this place and wish I had the experience so many other reviewers have had.

The menu is astonishingly diverse, with dozens and dozens of choices! But... the fajitas arrived, warm but not sizzling. My Steak Tropical arrived and both looked amazing, generous portions and then we dug in. Alas! My steak was tough and rubbery, like chewing an old shoe. The shrimp and chicken breast were utterly without flavor. I don't mean they tasted bad, I mean they had absolutely no flavor as if they were boiled and plunked on the plate. The fajitas were the same. They looked so delicious, but completely lacked aroma and flavor. Bland. How is that even possible? Both dishes were like eating movie prop food. We were hungry and ate some, but took the remainder home. We saved the uneaten portions to make into a chili here at home. Now look, this seems like a wonderful place and has a good crowd. I am a "mild spicy" guy and my wife likes "very spicy." But both of us had the same reaction; it looked great but was just bland and had none of the rich, complex flavor for which Mexican food is famous. Go, try El Vaquero. We may give it another try on another day. But last night, as wonderful as everything seemed, as sweet as our waitress was, the food just didn't satisfy.

We specifically came for margaritas during their social hour. $3 off a set list plus seasonals. There was a table card listing seasonal drinks. I specifically asked our waitress if the Christmas margarita was considered seasonal. She assured me it was, until we got our check and she said it wasn't. I'm not arguing over $6 but $26 for two watered down drinks was not a social hour deal. It's not a deal anywhere. My husband and I shared the three different empanadas gracing the social hour menu. The chicken was delicious, the beef was ok but the fish was fishy. So much so that I didn't even get to a second bite. We ordered chips, salsa and queso for the group. The chips were great - crisp and airy. The queso was good though unremarkable, the green salsa was great. The red was a tad hot for me but everyone else at the table disagreed with me. Husband and I shared the enchiladas verdes. Three chicken enchiladas were served with a plate of nearly tasteless rice. The enchiladas were dry. Even queso didn't help. I ate half of one and my husband didn't even want my second. We didn't take home the leftover enchilada. That pretty much sums them up - not even worthy of a to-go box. With tip, our check was $90. Way too much for such a mediocre meal. We just walked in the door. Hanging up our jackets, we agreed - we won't go back.

I didn't really have to worry about snacking on the chips because my food came out fairly quickly. I ordered some Mole Enchiladas and received some large portions. The chicken enchiladas were a little juicy, and the mole really enhanced the flavor. I loved the smokiness of the ancho falling through + the chocolate flavor. The cotija cheese and crema drizzled on top of the mole was good too. It had a tinge of sweetness, and paired well with the Jamaica. I recommend you try this place out!
