He told us some about the area and then obviously information about the Minnesota grapes and growing season. This place was very clean. Nice gift shop. I'm not a wine snob but I do think I have good taste buds. They had some really good wine. For $20, you received 5 samples. They were nice sized pours as well.

There is tons of outdoor seating - which was awesome as well as games and other activities to do outside We then went into the restaurant and were seated outside for dinner. Service was a little slower but it was super busy inside - so understandable. Absolutely get the large soft pretzel with caramel. What a genius idea and we were All floored at how good it was. We each got a different pizza (fig, pesto, hot honey) and a salad. 2 were ordered gluten free but they made all 3 gluten free - so I cannot speak to how the regular crust is unfortunately which I was looking forward too. The flavors were all great and would order all again.

The cheese curds were not what you would expect of Minnesota cheese curds at the state fair. They were very strange, squared, and weird batter. The wings also had a weird batter that was super thick and felt like I was going to break my teeth. The beer I had was pretty good and refreshing. I think it was one of their ciders. I would go back for the beer but not the food. It was also oddly packed with kids. Like literal kids, toddlers. I don't mean like 20 year olds as "kids." This made it highly loud and annoying.

My group got in with only about 40 min until close and I really expected to be either refused or told to hurry up because of the time. I would have understood that too since no one enjoys being held late. What I found was a crew happy to greet us and telling us to take the time that we needed to make some first-time visit decisions. There were still a couple of tables occupied when we were seated but within about 20 minutes, we had the place to ourselves. Nevertheless, we were never told to rush and even when the check was brought to me, our server told me with a genuine tone, "no rush". The pizza is from a brick oven and is best characterized as having a crispy, cracker-like crust with a red sauce bordering on the sweet side of the spectrum. The portions and toppings were fresh, generous, and appealing to the eye upon delivery. Definitely no complaints about the food! I really liked that they have an affordable and approachable wine list. We had a bottle of DOCG level Chianti for $29. Sure, the wines on the list are not going to win any worldwide gold medals or be on a collectible list but this is casual pizza and not a Michelin starred destination. You might be able to go to a spot with a fancy expensive wine list every few months. I could go here a few times per week. Let that sink in. I have not seen a decent bottle of wine in a restaurant at the pricing I saw here in quite some time! Kudos to Olive's for being affordable! For a first time visit, I loved several things here. I would be happy to go back for their pizza and wine list. But I am most happy to go back to support their pleasant and professional front of house staff. They definitely deserve to be rewarded.

Now run by third-generation owners, it expanded to retailing fine wine and cheeses as well. I stopped in to buy some house gifts, and was pleasantly surprised by its very large selection of products, displayed in a way that it was enjoyable to do some 'window shopping'. In my case, I focused on the whiskey's and found what I was hoping for (from the Nikka distillery, a place I had visited a long time ago). But surprisingly it carried American made whiskey (in this case, from the Seattle area) for a price that was lower than what I had paid when actually visiting the distillery itself. I took the time to walk around a bit, noticing that they had an entire section devoted to just German and Austria wines. (Would have been shocked to find wines from Luxembourg, which is on my list). There were also a large beer refrigerated room, as big as any I've seen at big retailers. Of course, it had the beers from the Midwest that are hard to find where I live now (Leinenkugel, Hamm's, and Zywiec). Also noticed a small display of cigars, protected behind locked glass. Ended up getting two Westland Single Malt 750ml for $56.99 each. Checkout was identical to any large liquor store chain (like a grocery store checkout with employees who do checkout and are not really knowledgeable about the products sold).
