I found the selection to be lacking compared to the Total Wine in Eagan, and the pricing was worse than in Eagan. I did appreciate that they featured a couple of shelves of THC beverages for those who are not alcohol consumers. This store can be hard to spot as it's at a 90-degree angle facing Target. The arrangement inside is different than many other TW stores I've been to as well, as the building is fully at an unusual angle, not a normal rectangle. Once we were inside, though, signs helped us navigate through--my husband to the beers, and me to the ciders. I was happy to see many new-to-me ciders, including some local ones like the limited edition Pride Strawberry-Kiwi from Wild State Cider. My husband found plenty of beer to try, too. Everyone here was nice, too--we had several greetings and offers of help as we wandered. read more

I have never wanted to leave a liquor store more than this. At first it wasn't so bad, an employee helped us find the wine we were looking for. On our way back from grabbing our wine, another employee gave us a pause and said "hello young girls". I've been able to drink legally for a while and was taken aback. Right after that, another employee was following us around the store and I get that underage drinking is a problem, but I don't want old men on my heals while I'm trying to get alcohol. Also, all of this happened AFTER we got free samples of wine, so we proved we were over 21 already. When we got the the registers, the employee didn't seem to understand the total wine reward system and dropped my bottle of wine on the conveyer belt. It was a very off-putting experience; I hope this store is not always like this. read more

Parking lot can be crazy. The store's position makes it roomy inside. They have every type of liquor you can think of. Not only do they have liquor but cigars and local brews. One associate made my trip everything and more. She helped me by walking me to my section and researching the brand I was looking for. She kept her composure even when other staff were yelling for help due to a long line. I was wildly impressed that I remained the focus of conversation. Total wine is the biggest wine store I've ever been in! I'm pretty sure they will have anything you're ever looking for. So many beers, wines, and liquor! Bonus, the prices are lower than you'll find at most other places. They also have a rewards system. You get points with every purchase. Probably the only problem is that it's so big, it's hard to find what you're looking for. Thankfully, their staff is around to help! There are baskets and grocery carts at the entrance. Total Wine is hands down one of my favorite businesses in the Twin Cities area. No matter what you're looking for, they have it all. This place is gigantic and stocks all kinds of wine, beer and liquor! The prices are insanely low, the service is impeccable, and you pretty much always leave with a cart full of bottles. I was just here a few days ago, and we were looking for a certain type of wine. We went down several aisles and couldn't seem to find it, so I tracked down a Total Wine employee. I told him the type of wine we were searching for and he knew exactly where to go, and led me there. Not only are their employees informative and share every bit of knowledge with you, but they dress up to show their holiday spirit too! I loved seeing all of the "ugly sweaters." It made the employees easy to spot and made the place more festive. Another personal touch is the little tags they have on certain bottles and types of alcohol that say "This is so & so's favorite" with an employee name and photo to indicate what they recommend. This is so clever and certainly helps any indecisive customer. We left Total Wine with a little over $100 in alcohol and we had enough for an entire holiday party. Why have I never been here before?! I want to live here or at least spend the night once! I am pretty sure that you could find anything you were looking for as far as alcohol goes. I even found a wine I adored in Italy on the shelf. Like an old friend, there she was! There were at least 2 tasting areas, with expert staff if you needed some assistance. I suggest coming here if you have no idea what you are in the mood for. I think just walking around will give you ideas for your party, gifts or just something to have with dinner. It's nice to see this chain finally come to Minnesota. It's almost exactly the same as any other Total Wine store you'll find in any state, with a few layout differences. Selection is good. Quality is good. Customer service is good. This is all standard for this chain. I took off a star because checkout is painfully slow at this location, but I'm hoping its due to the fact that its new. This is Maybe the 4th time I've been here since it opened last October 2014 I think..This place gave away beer glasses, wine goblets and canvas bags when first opened. Yeah I love free. Also lots of free sampling and giveaways such as engraved Patrón chains for your tequila and keychains etc. I like the build your 6 pack area as they have a good variety. Today you earn a 4/5 stars as I was looking for Belikin Beer from Belize. Asked and it was discontinued and cant get anymore. Long waits at registers are common, this could be streamlined better. I went to buy few bottles of wine at this location and when I went to pay the cashier who was an older lady with dark hair was so rude . I am a new member and I offered to show her on my app where you scan because it was my first time and with a rude almost yelling voice she told me " ID first" then was looking at my ID like it was fake . I'm only 47 years of age I think legal to purchase alcohol . People at the registers I feel that are the most important because me as a customer can go any other place to buy wine and not there . Is ok to say hello to your guest and be polite . The people before me she did not seem like o have a problem with . But again I have an accent and that might be something hot to her liking ! But again is her job and to welcome your guess it is what she gets paid for other than just taking my money . I work customer service and I know . I was polite and friendly as a customer so I'm puzzle up on what did I do to make her act that way . read more

Holy Wine Heaven, it is wonderful to finally be in your presence! My mind is so blown after visiting this place. Would you like a $900 bottle of wine? They've got it. How about a $2.99 bottle of wine? They've got that too and everything in between. Throughout the store, there are designated areas such as "Wine Tasters Choice" where they have a variety of wines in different price ranges. They also have Vineyard Direct wines that are both foreign and domestic. I've got a bottle of $2.99 German Riesling that I'm pretty jacked about. As I was walking up and down the aisles with my jaw on the floor and drool quite possibly dripping from my mouth, it occurred to me that I had wasted so much time on other liquor stores. Never again will I be paying for overpriced alcohol. Never again will I waste my time visiting multiple stores trying to find a specific bottle of primo wine. Never again. In addition to wine, I also picked up a 1.5 L bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin for $10 less than Costco. Mind. Blown. In reading the reviews, I see that many people have had not good customer service experiences here. Mine was quite the opposite. I had no less than five people ask me if I needed help finding anything. Perhaps it's because I'm blonde. Perhaps it's because I was walking around aimlessly. WHY TO CHOOSE YOUR LOCALLY OWNED STORE Since this location opened up we have been in and spent an absorbent amount of money, my girlfriend going in most the time without me. This evening we entered the store and she immediately realized she had left her ID in her coat, walked out of the store and sat by Target. I chose one of our favorite bottles and proceeded to check out where I was informed I couldn't purchase the bottle until " I produced the same girl I walked in with and PRODUCED her ID. " It wasn't said politely and I didn't make a huge fuss, I figured given the circumstances that this may happen. I am not upset with this lady for doing her job. What did upset me is that I have seen this lady many times in the store, even made eye contact. She had no clue who I was, no clue that what I was trying to do was right and proper. I walked into MGM 4 minutes later and found a more aged bottle of scotch of the same brand for the SAME price I was wiling to pay. Than I was given a military discount, and got greeted by name by a man I hadn't seen since Total Wine opened up. I will gladly pay a few extra bucks to have a person remember me by name almost two years later. This is the quality we as the consumer miss out on to save a few more cents on the dollar. I first encountered Total Wine on a trip to Phoenix back in 2014. I like to pickup whatever beer is locally brewed when out of town and a quick search found one a few blocks from our hotel. Walked thru the automatic doors and was blown away by the layout in front of me. I said out loud "I wish we had something like this back home". It didn't take long before my dreams came true. Be it wine, rum, tequila, vodka, whatever. If you are looking for it they probably have it. Its an adventure in itself just wandering the aisles discovering your favorites next to brands that you never knew existed. Some things are greats deals while others are not (for instance Surly Furious for $7.99 for a four pack when its $9.99 at the liquor stores closer to home). If you have your favorites and what they cost I'm sure you can find some deals. The focus of the inventory seems to be mainly on wine and liquors. They have a pretty good beer section, but it isn't much larger than the one at Lakeville or Apple Valley Liquors. Others have commented on uneven levels of customer service. I haven't had any issues in that area. I know what I want when I enter and still just wander around anyway to see if I run across something different that I might want to try. Have a look around. A few minutes exploring won't cause you any harm. The only real negative for me is the location. Its in a strip mall next to a Target across the street from Burnsville Center. If you are on the west side of the I-35 split its a pretty easy trip. If you are on the east side I'd reconsider the trip. The $2 I would save on the Surly isn't worth the aggravation of sitting thru that traffic at peak travel times of the day. If you go on a Saturday afternoon you might as well pack a lunch since its going to be packed with people. All in all its a fantastic place. Great selection, great prices for the most part. If you need a hard to find item and are in the area I'd try here first. read more

Walked in on a recent Saturday night at 950 pm and immediately my friend and I were reminded what time it was. Over the course of the next ten minutes we heard the time from several employees. At least every two minutes someone came to us and said, "It's 9:52. The store closes at 10." No one ever asked if they could help us find anything. I even explained that I was buying several items and that I was from out of town. One of the reminder employees walked around the corner. As I rounded the same corner shortly after I heard him say, "I don't care what you are buying..." We left with almost $200 in beverages after being treated rudely. Who knows how much more we would have bought if we would have been treated more kindly. I have been in many Total Wine stores. They are always well-stocked, clean and courteous. read more

Total Wine is a great addition to the twin cities. The prices seem better here that any other liquor store around. The selection is the best around also. I was recommended to try a Brazilian Rum called OLO and I love the spiced and silver. It is good, smooth rum with a cork but it is much better that Cruzan Single barrel and a lot cheaper too. I know the rest of my family also likes to shop here because of the low prices on the stuff that you would buy anyway. I love to make my Applebee's "Perfect margarita" -- I stock up here! Either this Burnsville store or the Edina/Bloomington store. I have been frequenting Total Wine (numerous locations) for over 10 years. They are one of the best wine and liquor chains in the entire nation. Their selection is fantastic, prices are good, and staff is helpful and friendly. I almost feel like family when I go to the Burnsville location. I am still trying to figure out the 'Winery Direct" thing. More and more wines have become winery direct. I have heard it is more sinister than merely a wine obtained directly from a winery (versus from a distributor), but have not received any confirmation of this. The place is always clean and the tastings they do are a nice add-on. Even though their wine selection is good, I would prefer to see them double some of the mainstays, such as Cab Sauv, Bordeaux, etc. read more

We frequented Total Wine in Virginia and loved it. We were at the opening of the Burnsville store and it is beautiful!! We were able to pick some of our old favorites as we did in VA. I came here after being referred by a friend when I was complaining about not having any good wine stores around the area. At first, this store is quite intimidating due to the numerous rows of every alcohol you can imagine ( and a humidor). Staff soon approached me and my worries went away, they were very informative and very friendly. I went with the mindset of getting a bottle of wine, but I left with wine, champagne, and beer. I would say the best aspect about this store are the craft beer selections. If you want to try multiple different craft beers you are able to make your own 6pack!. I highly reccommend this store, the prices are reasonable and the staff is very knowledgable! read more
