We also had H and R Block in Salem, Oregon prepare our 2017 taxes due to unusual income that year. In getting ready to prepare my 2018 taxes as I do in a typical year, I pulled out my previous year's taxes to review and was shocked to discover that the tax preparer had entered the incorrect number on the federal income tax withheld line. She entered that amount as $7686 when in reality the amount should have been $15,452!!! Her excuse for the error was that how Social Security Taxes were inputted instead of Federal tax withheld. The math does NOT add up....And this is a certified tax preparer? I asked the manager for a refund of the $481 which included $40 for "Peace of Mind" coverage AND a no interest loan for the $7700.00 until the amended return check was received from the IRS. A few days later I received a form letter with a check for $441.00. It did not include the $7700.00 I requested. The letter included a statement hoping that I would be a returning customer some time in the future. Yeah Right!! I e-mailed the branch manager and requested the missing $40 and received the following reply, "Peace of Mind is a product that we offer if we make a mistake and you owe the IRS. In your case you do not owe the IRS." So much for my "Peace of Mind"... They care about one thing, $$$!! Their first priority is NOT the customer! Now I must wait a protracted period of time for money that should have been mine this time last year.....I will NEVER have my taxes prepared by H and R Block!

They submitted it twice told us it was submitted and accepted only to find out on our own that it had never been accepted or submitted electronically! And now we had to go back and get everything via paper mode and do it all ourselves. I spent hundreds of dollars for them to electronically process and submit my tax return For us to only have to turn it in on our own and do it ourselves. when I went into the commercial office, they had nothing to say to us, but I'm sorry I wasn't there. I don't know how to help you! so I'm out hundreds of dollars for tax preparation that didn't even get submitted electronically like they said they did now I'm past the tax deadline and have to do it all ourselves. Ride Share Worker + Liberty Tax = Living NIGHTMARE!!!!…read more Take the time to read this, so it can save you! My husband and I engaged Liberty Tax for our tax filing needs from 2018 to 2021, investing over $3,200+ in their services, including the "Audit Protection" that they advertise. Liberty Tax claims, "we will assist you through the audit process" and "provide you with guidance and representation," promising peace of mind during what they deem stressful situations. Instead, we have found ourselves in an ongoing harrowing financial nightmare. Every single year we used their services, we have been audited by the Oregon Department of Revenue resulting in exorbitant fees and penalties, far outweighing the costs we paid Liberty Tax for supposed protection. Richard Sharp, the Supervisor and representative who we entrusted with our filings, not only failed to ensure compliance but also provided zero assistance when the audits began. In fact, he avoided us, ghosted our emails, didn't return phone calls and then, when we did finally meet with him, he criticized us for not contacting him sooner. Liberty Tax has given us zero support. Our phone calls to the corporate numbers all route back to the Salem Oregon office, where Richard is the Supervisor, and the person who trains all the Libert Tax tax preparers. We even reaching out to the Portland office who spoke to us, took information and contacted the Salem office, which resulted in again, zero follow-ups. The language they use to sell their "Audit Protection" includes promises of timely notifications and representation; however, when we needed them most, we received nothing but excuses and avoidance. Their lack of follow-through left us feeling abandoned and overwhelmed. Liberty Tax's assurances of "support during the audit process" proved to be empty, as they did not follow through on their obligations, leaving us to navigate the complex and stressful audit landscape alone. To make matters worse, Richard Sharp missed all deadlines leaving us no ability to fight. He took copies of all DOR communication, had us sign a power of attorney form, and he assured us he would straighten this all out. He never followed through, he lost the power of attorney form, we gave him a second form and submitted the form online to DOR. He assured us "not to worry about this" then he missed all audit deadlines and stopped communicating. Liberty Tax left us in a cycle of getting raped by DOR year after year. This lack of accountability and support is unacceptable for a service we paid to protect us from such situations. I strongly advise anyone considering Liberty Tax to look elsewhere. Their track record demonstrates a complete failure to uphold their commitments, placing you at risk for unnecessary audits and crippling penalties. If you value your financial security, your business, and peace of mind, avoid Liberty Tax and Richard Sharp at all costs. Expect to encounter audits, mistakes, and bad guidance, all resulting in substantial back taxes, and zero support when navigating the mess they've helped create. Liberty Tax should be held accountable for their negligence, and frankly, their CPA licenses should be reconsidered based on the disservice they provide to hardworking individuals like us.
