I initally asked how much he charged and how long he thought it would take to prepare my business and personal taxes. I never got an answer to my question - which should have been my first clue. I received the invoice in the mail, for almost $900. That amount can cripple a small business. The invoice didn't specify or have a breakdown of why it was so much. When I called the office for clarification, I was told the tax prep took almost 5 hours. 2 hours alone to input previous years taxes into "the system." When I asked what "the system" was, I was only told their internal system. The past years filings from previous accountants took 1-2 hours. For a firm this size, I don't see how a simple return can take 5 hours.

With more complex finances, we knew we needed someone we could trust and who had the skill set to manage them (a task we didn't have the bandwidth to learn in addition to our own responsibilities). Jamison Hanson was referred to us by a friend and his father who were already clients, and I appreciated the firm's methodical approach. They use a calculated risk at a level we were comfortable with at each stage of life. Money management is all about managing risk and minimizing expenses in the process. Not having a financial background, I have benefited greatly from what I have learned through our partnership with Steven Jamison. I don't feel comfortable with the black box approach to decision-making where I put in money and hopefully more comes out. At every meeting there's a new detail of the evolving tax law and our changing financial situation, which leads to a range of choices to better position ourselves in our retirement. Steven's explanations increase our understanding of our finances, which helps us make the best choice consistent with our goals. We have recommended Steven to multiple people. I believe his greatest selling point is that I trust him! With his measured approach to management, I don't feel like we are gambling; we are managing risk. Most importantly, I trust Steven to have my best interests at heart and give us the best information he has. - Will & Rebecca

She asked me to move my car and I told her I would be only 8 seconds and gone. Well, this only ticked her off and then she got that "Karen" attitude as she informed me I was over the line, to which I replied You don't have to be a "Karen" about this I'm only going to be eight seconds. This ticked her off royally and "...maybe I was 11 seconds" but as I'm backing out to leave, out comes her camera with the fanatical attitude that she had caught me in a major criminal activity, as she raised her phone triumphantly and yelled something like "I got it!!!" As a former Corporate Executive, I find this kind of attitude and activity of an employee appalling and bad for business. I would never do business with an organization that doesn't value their potential customer base! There are other tax service businesses in our area, my suggestion is choose another!

I experienced an exploitative and unethical business practice from this company and would recommend…read moreyou go elsewhere for registered agent services. After paying the $35/year dues and choosing to renew my business registration myself (takes 5 minutes) each year, for several years as their customer, they suddenly charged me $200 for a renewal that I did not give permission for them to perform, and that they could not yet actually perform for several more weeks. Without notice, they changed their policy to automatically sign all customers up for their service of renewing the customer's business registration with the state. What a.... choice, as a business. I cannot imagine making a choice like that as a business owner to essentially pull a fast one on all my customers. The renewal itself takes 5 minutes, max, and they want to charge $200.... which, fine, charge whatever you want for your services, but not WITHOUT MY CONSENT to perform the service!!!! They did refund me, which I appreciated, but this policy was so slimy and greedy that I do not trust them to handle any legal matters for my business if that's how they handled such a basic policy. I took my business elsewhere.

The staff are attentive, passionate about their mission, and I have better feedback (resume, cover letter and tactics/tools) than before talking to them. I especially enjoy Wilma, who helps with job searches. She knows about a lot of resources, is tuned in, caring, personable. I am giving a four vs five rating, because at times I've waited a while for my appointment because the persona I was waiting for did not know I was there, although I told the staff. But I will return for more coaching and resources for figuring out my next career move.
