    Chicken Shwarma plate
    Emily N.

I came around lunch time and got a Chicken Shwarma plate with rice for about ~$12 taxes in. I thought it was a pretty good deal considering I could probably get 2 decent sized meals out of it. I like how the garlic sauce comes on the side, because some places put too much garlic sauce on the chicken shwarma, or the taste of the garlic can be overwhelming (which wouldn't be good to go back to work to!) I was a bit upset that they didn't have baba ganoush. In fact, the workers had no idea what I was talking about :( Also it would have been nice if they warmed up the pita. Maybe I'm just used to different standards. However, I do like how the food comes in a reusable container (likely not BPA-free so as long as you aren't microwaving your leftovers, it should be fine!) Overall, I'd come back again due to the lack of Lebanese food options in Halifax.

I pretty much can be counted on to get take-out from here once a week. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. I always get their shawarma wrap and my wife gets the chicken souvlaki plate. The shawarma is never dry and my wrap always seems to be hot even after sitting for a while. The homemade pickled turnip is almost my favorite part. The garlic sauce is garlicky but not overdone. The line-ups to order always seem long but I have a Mezza pro tip: skip the line-ups by using the One Local ordering app to order/pay in advance and take out or eat there. Plus, for every $50 you spend at Mezza through the app you get $5 off your next order- it's like a no-brainer 10% discount! There's several things I have to knock: I am *ahem* not the slimmest of individuals but the distance between the order counter and divider to the restaurant is too narrow; people just look squished in when they are waiting to order and pick their toppings. They need a One Local/phone in order pick up sign so I don't get dirty looks from hungry lemmings er people like I am jumping the line. It's loud: they blast Middle Eastern dance music so loudly you can't have a conversation. The service is slow: even when I place my order ahead of time I always find the staff are slammed and I have to wait. I can really only take away one star for the cons. Did I mention value?! The meal size for the money is awesome; you can get a much healthy, tastier options for the same price as a McDonald's combo meal. Why would you pick the latter?

Falafel plate takeout. Great value and delicious food, but a 15 to 20 minute wait whenever I've gone.

The food here is great, but the service is slow! I think they take too many orders at once, and by the time your takeout container makes it down the line through multiple different assembly line workers, you've been asked by 3 or 4 different people what your order is. 1st person: What would you like to order? Tabouli or Greek salad? Rice or fries? 2nd person: Tabouli or Greek salad with this plate? Rice or fries? 3rd person: Did you order the chicken souvlaki? No? Falafel? Oh we're still waiting for falafel from the kitchen (and they push the plates of the two people behind me ahead of me as these customers awkwardly squeeze past me in line up). 4th person: What did you order today so I can ring you through? To me, it would make more sense to order and pay for the food at the first stage of the line, then they could print out a slip of what your order is and they could keep it with your container or plate and the employees could just read your ticket before filling your container at each stage. Their falafel plate is delicious, but I'd go more often if I could place & pay for my order, then sit and wait for them to call my name when they've finished putting my order together.

The mixed grill plate with a coke.

First off. Let me say that you should NOT get the fries. That's a weird choice to make at this place. The rice is /SPECTACULAR/. Also keep in mind that it's a serving station like subway has. There is no table service. I went with my roommate and boyfriend, and I got the mixed grill plate, and the other two got the basic chicken Slovakia plates. Both with salad and rice. I chose rice as well. The rice was soft and fluffy, and the taboli salad was divine. I am a huge fan of it, and anyone who can make it perfectly will have my undying devotion. The chicken was cooked all the way through, but still juicy. The sticks themselves for the slovaki plates were burnt, and cracked off in hand. The salad was fresh, and the hummas and garlic sauce were perfect. I got a coke with mine. 18.99 for the entire thing. Its a bit pricy honestly, but it's worth it. They give you the choice between a plate and the take out container. For the most food, get the plate. The restaraunt itself was clean and nicely decorated, and the employees were ready to take your order. If they needed to go out back for something, they excused themselves, and got it quickly. All in all, I really enjoyed it. I'll come back for more.

The food is now completely lacking in distinctive Lebanese flavours, like they've either cut corners everywhere or the owner (nope, not a chef) has the palette of a camel. . I ordered chicken Shwarma, and my friend had chicken kebab. The meat was so dry it was hard - he LITERALLY couldn't get his teeth through it. My chicken was only a bit better - chewable, but bland and grossly overcooked. I took the kebab back to my terrier. Even he had to chew it hard on his back teeth, then he coughed and looked for water. TRUE STORY! The rice & lentils were mostly just rice, with no hint of the signature browned onions. It was served with some other pretty tasteless yellowish rice, so half my plate ended up being boring rice. The almost grey cabbage was too soft and had no added flavour. The potatoes had become soggy victims of the steam table and lost whatever browned taste they might ever have had. The hummus was wet and over processed. It lacked both taste & texture, and neither it nor the garlic sauce seemed to have ever met garlic. There seemed to be no lemon in ANY of it. Even the Tabouleh just tasted like soggy old parsley. My food was $20, and his was $22. We didn't buy the Baklava. The pastry looked stale, and it there wasn't enough honey (or syrup) to keep it tender or hold it all together. Not sure about the nuts, either. They looked pale the (ahem) peanuts-like. Baklava just shouldn't be made like that. I will never go back and was sad for my friend's failed introduction to Lebanese food. May you rest in peace, old Mrs Ray. I'm so sorry your recipes are also as tasteless as the grave.

The one that I doubled up had more tabouli, that was it. Thought that was a bit of a small rip off.. Anyhow $12 for a chicken plate is not bad, will probably order again but just won't upgrade.

Best Meal of the Trip - Quality Over Quantity Done Right…read more Our brunch at Daryâ was hands-down the best meal of our trip so far. For $35, the brunch buffet is an absolute steal considering the quality of food and the overall experience. While the selection isn't massive, everything they offer is executed flawlessly--and honestly, you don't need 50 options when each dish is this good. The potato latkes were a standout--crispy, flavourful, and probably the best we've ever had. We also treated ourselves to the 12-for-$42 Mimosa Tree, and it was such a fun and tasty addition to the meal. The variety of flavours was impressive, with Cranberry Vanilla, Guava, and Pistachio Pear being the unexpected stars of the lineup. From the elegant atmosphere to the impeccable food and drinks, this place nails brunch. Highly recommend if you're in Halifax and want something elevated without being stuffy.

The fried halloumi sticks were very tough to chew and very little taste. For dinner we got the chicken shwarma and spanakopita. The chicken pieces in the middle weren't bad but on either end the pieces were dry and tough and should not be served. If you're grilling chicken all pieces need to be same size to avoid this problem. The spanakopita was a huge disappointment. It was a round pie which looked good. The filling was some creamy tasteless cheesy mess. Could not taste any spinach or feta cheese. Probably heavy on the ricotta. Service was forgettable. Cannot recommend this place.
