I came around lunch time and got a Chicken Shwarma plate with rice for about ~$12 taxes in. I thought it was a pretty good deal considering I could probably get 2 decent sized meals out of it. I like how the garlic sauce comes on the side, because some places put too much garlic sauce on the chicken shwarma, or the taste of the garlic can be overwhelming (which wouldn't be good to go back to work to!) I was a bit upset that they didn't have baba ganoush. In fact, the workers had no idea what I was talking about :( Also it would have been nice if they warmed up the pita. Maybe I'm just used to different standards. However, I do like how the food comes in a reusable container (likely not BPA-free so as long as you aren't microwaving your leftovers, it should be fine!) She wasnt really listening to me and asked me to repeat part of the order a few times because she was chatting with a coworker. the food was made to order, in a professional and sanitary fashion. The cashier thought my order was a regular donair because it was so small. she actuallly raised her eyebrows at the size. I had ordered a large I got it home and it was tiny. so small that I had to make myself a sandwich afterwards. I pretty much can be counted on to get take-out from here once a week. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. I always get their shawarma wrap and my wife gets the chicken souvlaki plate. The shawarma is never dry and my wrap always seems to be hot even after sitting for a while. The homemade pickled turnip is almost my favorite part. The garlic sauce is garlicky but not overdone. The line-ups to order always seem long but I have a Mezza pro tip: skip the line-ups by using the One Local ordering app to order/pay in advance and take out or eat there. Plus, for every $50 you spend at Mezza through the app you get $5 off your next order- it's like a no-brainer 10% discount! There's several things I have to knock: I am *ahem* not the slimmest of individuals but the distance between the order counter and divider to the restaurant is too narrow; people just look squished in when they are waiting to order and pick their toppings. They need a One Local/phone in order pick up sign so I don't get dirty looks from hungry lemmings er people like I am jumping the line. It's loud: they blast Middle Eastern dance music so loudly you can't have a conversation. The service is slow: even when I place my order ahead of time I always find the staff are slammed and I have to wait. I can really only take away one star for the cons. Did I mention value?! I think they take too many orders at once, and by the time your takeout container makes it down the line through multiple different assembly line workers, you've been asked by 3 or 4 different people what your order is. 1st person: What would you like to order? Tabouli or Greek salad? Rice or fries? 2nd person: Tabouli or Greek salad with this plate? Rice or fries? 3rd person: Did you order the chicken souvlaki? No? Falafel? Oh we're still waiting for falafel from the kitchen (and they push the plates of the two people behind me ahead of me as these customers awkwardly squeeze past me in line up). 4th person: What did you order today so I can ring you through? To me, it would make more sense to order and pay for the food at the first stage of the line, then they could print out a slip of what your order is and they could keep it with your container or plate and the employees could just read your ticket before filling your container at each stage. First off. Let me say that you should NOT get the fries. That's a weird choice to make at this place. The rice is /SPECTACULAR/. Also keep in mind that it's a serving station like subway has. There is no table service. I went with my roommate and boyfriend, and I got the mixed grill plate, and the other two got the basic chicken Slovakia plates. Both with salad and rice. I chose rice as well. The rice was soft and fluffy, and the taboli salad was divine. I am a huge fan of it, and anyone who can make it perfectly will have my undying devotion. The chicken was cooked all the way through, but still juicy. The sticks themselves for the slovaki plates were burnt, and cracked off in hand. The salad was fresh, and the hummas and garlic sauce were perfect. I got a coke with mine. 18.99 for the entire thing. Its a bit pricy honestly, but it's worth it. They give you the choice between a plate and the take out container. For the most food, get the plate. The restaraunt itself was clean and nicely decorated, and the employees were ready to take your order. If they needed to go out back for something, they excused themselves, and got it quickly. Well what can I say about this place they have the worst by far the worst customer service on the planet I had to give the guy my address that could not speak a lick of English 5 times I told him lettuce tomato onion on my shawarma wrap 3 time with Greek salad and a order of large fries He ended up getting my order wrong and putting pickles on it and not sending my large fries so I ended up calling back told him the mistake and he didn't charge me for it that I didn't get my large fries he didn't understand so I had to speak to management after on the phone for 15 minutes I told him my situation that I got pickles on my wrap and didn't get my large fries. Unfortunately I compare all chicken shawarmas I eat to what I would order at tareks Cafe. For about 10$ you get less then what you would at tareks. The chicken is off the spit, but kept warm in a table top warmer, thus making the chicken dry out by the time it gets to your plate. Lettuce, pickles, tomato, pickled turnip, and garlic sauce.... I'm assuming? The atmosphere is nice and modern, bench seats, eating bar that looks out the window. I can't say I would come back. I tried it once, and honestly It didn't blow me away. I love this place. It's always so fresh and so tasty. The Shawarma plate is spectacular. You get so much food for the price. The taboule is super tasty and the hand pickled turnips are delish. Their hummus is a bit mediocre, needs so more garlic. But the chicken is amazingly tasty as well as the garlic sauce. Even the fried are super tasty. My obsession with mezza is crazy. The cravings I get for tabouli and their delicious shawarma is unreal. Almost every time I get the shawarma plate with tabouli. There is so much food that you can easily make 2 wraps (3 if you're easy on the rice). The price is also relatively cheap for the amount of food you get. The quality of food is also pretty good. The customer service at this location is great. The food is always plentiful, they remember your face, they are incredibly kind and they are fast! Mezza used to have a restaurant on Quinpool next to the oxford intersection and they decided to expand into this fast food feel.. which I think is great. Its usually pretty busy but the lines move pretty fast, unless the person in front of you orders the entire store. I have wanted to write a review for awhile but I can never take a picture because I get too excited and eat it all. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone and whenever my friends are in town - I definitely push mezza on them. I can't wait to go back! read more

Message/Venus in HSC is my second-place shawarma (Tarek's has my heart) and Layla has gone downhill, so I was super-excited to see they were opening in my neighborhood. I've been there three times now. I haven't had a decent shawarma yet. Fundamentally, I think the problem is that they are not carving the shawarma on the spot--they are carving it and keeping in a heated bin. By the time it gets on your pita it is dry and flavorless. We do like to support our local businesses. My wife and I stopped in and ordered at the new local Hammonds Plains Mezza. Our first time in. We ordered two chicken Slouvaki plates to go. The young lady indicated that they had run out of Feta cheese and apologized. We arrived home and when we opened the covers to the plates, we discovered very little but a few lettuce leaves, one olive in each plate and a thin slither of chicken - all of this for $25. Really disappointed today . Really enjoy the food and the folks that work there, but they really need to get their phone/ delivery sorted out. When I dialed the number it gave options for all locations and I selected Clayton Park. Attempted three times, but it went to voicemail....annnnnd inbox was full. Best casual restaurant in Halifax. The food is excellent and healthy. They have great hours since they are open late. The chicken shawarma plate is my favorite. They give a ton a food on the plate. You can choose from either Taboule salad, Fatouch salad, or Greek Salad. Plus, they have amazing turnips which they hand pickle in the store. You can choose rice or fries. Both are good. Their hummus is amazing as well. Their prices are very reasonable for Halifax. It would cost you almost the same amount of money to go to McDonald's. Customer service is usually good, but sometimes they can be a bit slow in serving you (a few times they were focused on cleaning instead of serving the customers in line). Overall, it is very high quality food for the price. I haven't found a place with such high quality food in Halifax yet. Highly recommend!! read more

This Mezza is closest to home for me, so when I get an evening Shawarma craving, this is my go-to place. I like the Chicken Shawarma plate with rice, and my wife prefers it with fries. Their fries are the rough-cut style with a savory seasoning. I like them, but I just like their rice more. Sometimes I'll get a side of stuffed grape leaves as well. read more

An average rating of 2-1/2 stars seems high. Venus was always our go to, but this was so disappointing. The taboule on the mixed plate was soggy, everything else was mediocre and it's as if they found the worst dusty old piece of pita to toss on top of the plate. The donair took forever to make (isn't this supposed to be the epitome of fast street food?) three people who ordered mixed plates and Shawarma platters after me, had to pass me in the line because their orders were made while I waited for my donair. The result was that my grilled pita sat with cold tomatoes and onions on it waiting for meat and sauce so long, that the finished donair was cold and soggy. No delicious crunchy meaty bites here and no delicious sauce dripping down my chin. The new decor and marketing is fantastic! Kudos. I ordered a large donair because when they first opened in Clayton Park, I had the best donair ever... the meat was perfectly crispy and spicy and full of flavour, and the pita was nicely toasted and held together perfectly. This time the meat wasn't fried and was chewy without flavour and not at all spicy, the pita wasn't toasted and fell apart, and it definitely wasn't as large.
