I buy the vast majority of my cigars there and the vast majority of my lighters as I tend to buy cheap lighters and they don't last. This is fine because I like the new stuff. Bottom line is, I am always treated well when I go in there. I can't think of a single time that I have visited Crescent and have walked out feeling disgruntled. Not once. I've never had a problem where a store policy has felt unfair to me there. In fact, I am heading there now to pick up another handful of my favorite Perdomos.

I said thanks and that I would be in. When I got there it was busy. The employee was hanging out on the couch watching TV. I looked right at him and he did not acknowledge me. I looked around for about 5 minutes, trying to find the recommendation but could not find anything. When I came out to ask, the TV was muted and about 15 people were staring right at me, like I just hit someone's dog in dead silence. I have very severe PTSD from the war and this almost made me flip out. I don't appreciate being intimidated when walking into a business. Maybe they hate veterans, I don't know. Regardless, I asked the employee about the recommendation I was given and he laughed in my face implying I never emailed anyone. It was condescending and rude. This was also while in complete silence, tv muted, and every single person staring at me. I walked away from him and his gangs aggression and looked for a few minutes more. After another few LONG minutes he FINALLY walked in and started giving me recommendations, like I was forcing him to do his job. I didn't buy anything he recommended (after that he was probable trying to sell me stale ones), and just bought a couple individuals I already knew (not a box). When I checked out the tv was back on and people were not staring at me in disgust. So much for going to my closest cigar shop. Veterans are not welcome and ownership needs to get involved.

The place reminded me of a place in Chicago called The Alley, but without all the leather Chicago police jackets and skulls. The staff was super friendly and helpful and emerged from behind the counters to come help you find anything specific you might be looking for. My son was interested in a turtle flag but they only had it in a large size and his apartment bedroom at his college didn't have enough wall space to accommodate the size they had. He did walk away with a Pink Floyd shirt and my wife found a woven hat she and I wore in college in the 90s. Our son was quite embarrassed and that was enough to make me love this store. I am definitely not a hippie. Not now. Never was. However, they did have some things that I was able to reminisce about from my college days that I would have picked up knickknack or two just for that. This is a cute shop for tweenagers on up.
