The ambiance of the place reminds me of a French or Irish cottage, a place to escape the world and the dry desert air. Their cigar stock is diverse, and they make sure to take care of them in a climate controlled environment, a humid environment designed for these little guys to survive the harsh dry desert environment. Their Broadway location is nice, but this place holds a class and a charm the other joint doesn't. Although, I like them both equally. You will always be greeted and accommodated to find the right cigar to suit your taste and tolerance. The laid back feel to this place sets it apart from Crescent. At Crescent, it sometimes I feel like they are more watching me because I'm a younger guy. At Anthony's I'm treated like a man with taste.They also have an assortment of boutique cigars if you want a one of kind hard to find cigar. The lounge is a nice touch, I recommend going here during the afternoon, if you are trying to find a place to watch sports or to have a good conversation. You will never feel lonely here as their will always be someone to have cigar with you and enjoyable conversation. There is complimentary soda and coffee if you decide to stay and enjoy your cigar. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE! I went in this place to buy a gift for my friend's birthday and the guy behind the counter was so incredibly rude and condescending I couldn't believe it. I asked a question about where to get a humidor and he couldn't tear himself away from his cell phone screen to look me in the eye and provide a paying customer service. I've been treated badly but assholes before but this guy should be crowned King of the assholes. My favorite cigar shop. There are other Anthonys locations but this is the best. I'll just keep this down to the basics: 1. The staff knows everything. Austin works there some days and can describe the specific flavor profiles of *every* cigar while he tours you through the shop. I find myself genuinely excited to go home and see if I can catch the "sour grape" or the "cream and wood" flavor he mentioned. If you want to expand your tastes, definitely talk to him. Even if you know what you want, ask him if there's something to think about when you smoke it. He enhances the whole experience. 2. The selection is extensive. They get in new and interesting cigar imports (right now they have something from Indonesia!). They have all the basics. The price point is fine. 3. They have a good community. Events featuring cigar manufacturer reps, BYOB events, and more, all well-attended and well done. Equally highly recommended for connoisseurs and those looking for their first cigar. I was on my way to lunch at the northwest corner of River and Campbell, and running early, I decided to stop in and have half a cigar. I'd hoped to have the other half after lunch. The place was clean, properly humidified, and the cigars were arrayed in open boxes with a huge selection. I prefer a lot of different cigars (Padrons, Joyos, Ligas, Fuentes, Avos, etc.) so finding they actually had many of each was awesome. I asked if they had Padron 1964s and they did... both in natural and maduro in three different sizes. Perfect. The price was on par with Internet warehouses - maybe a dollar a stick higher. The gentleman minding the store introduced himself as Mike, and he was knowledgeable and led me right to the cigars I asked about. He rang me up swiftly and even was kind enough to break my bill (I didn't have any small ones). Then he told me I was welcome to go into the lounge and there were soft drinks there and he'd be happy to brew up a fresh cup of coffee. I went into the lounge and found four large leather seats into which one could fall into and drown -- they are that comfortable -- and a sofa of similar quality. There were lighters and ashtrays everywhere and the ashtrays were spotless. He got me a glass and I sipped my drink with ice cubes while enjoying the fresh Anniversario that was perfectly humidified. It was soft to the touch, no oils on the surface, no breaks in the wrapper, and smoked evenly until I had to let it go and have lunch. When I came back after lunch he greeted me and pointed out my cigar was still there, my drink still had ice cubes, and I engaged in the second half of the cigar. The smoke removal fans do a fantastic job. I've been to other places that no matter what they do the atmosphere is smokey... this is not the case at Anthony's. It was very very clean (did I say spotless three times now?) and very welcoming.
