This sprawling park has paved trails with inner and outer loops spanning about three miles, plus loads of other amenities, including tennis courts, volleyball nets, a catch-and-release fishing pond, gazebos, and the well-crafted Eureka playground. There were already dozens of joggers, dog walkers, and parents with toddlers out and about at South Lakes by late Saturday morning in January, when the temperature had just nudged up to 50 degrees. Its convenient and safe, and I plan to be back often.

The local Skateboard Park is located to the west of this park, next to The Burkburnett Boys & Girls Club. I myself often use the Bike Path in the evening with a long ride. A very nice path to use for biking, walking, or jogging.

There is a bus stop, but no parking lot, so you will have to park on the residential streets surrounding the park. There is an i lit concrete walkway throughout this park, complete with metal benches & picnic tables. There are two shaded pavilions near the playground that have BBQ pits, but one was missing a grill. This park has hills, & is built on an incline to catch rainwater in the center. It is very close off Highways 44 & 325, maybe a few miles from other nearby highways. We were staying in a nearby motel (there were several), so I was happy that this park was only a half mile walk with my dog. Park was clean, no litter. Only had two complaints, one being some kids drew some obscene art with chalk on the concrete walkway, & two, a black cat that lived in a nearby house followed my dog & I all over the park. Other then those two minor issues, I recommend this park to anyone traveling with kids, pets or need to stretch your legs.

The sand is clean, we've never had a problem with finding feces or anything of that sort while playing. They also have huge open field surrounding the park as well as a prairie dog enclosure. The only thing is I wish the large open area had a walking path or something, it's not stroller friendly but that's a very small side note.
