This is a pretty big park with about 234 acres to explore. The most serene and tranquil part of this park is the lake that constantly whisks fresh breezes off of it while listening to the trees rustle in its wind. Within the park itself is a 2.6 mile concrete hike and bike trail that runs from the southern tip of the park at Fairway Avenue to the dam on the lake. There are public restrooms, a modular playground, basketball goals, drinking fountains, and many picnic areas. There are also 2 lighted baseball fields, 2 lighted softball fields, 3 lighted football fields, and an 18 hole disc golf course. Lake Wichita Park has the only model airplane landing strip in the park system.

The sand is clean, we've never had a problem with finding feces or anything of that sort while playing. They also have huge open field surrounding the park as well as a prairie dog enclosure. The only thing is I wish the large open area had a walking path or something, it's not stroller friendly but that's a very small side note.

A large sports area with covered Basketball Court. The majority of the Walk & Bike Path runs through this park. A large Community Center located on the south edge of the park. Couple nicely shade gazebos. Scenic bridge used by many for special photo sessions. Large pond with ducks, fish, and turtles. The local Skateboard Park is located to the west of this park, next to The Burkburnett Boys & Girls Club. I myself often use the Bike Path in the evening with a long ride. A very nice path to use for biking, walking, or jogging.

My two sons attended the insect investigators summer camp at Riverbend nature center June 15th…read morethrough 19th 2026 before enrolling I specifically inform the camp that one of my sons is autistic and and discuss his needs with staff I was assured that he would be accommodated and supported. During camp my 9-year-old autistic son reported that a male camp counselor roughly handled him and squeezed his shoulder causing him pain my son reported yelling out ow you're hurting me. My 11-year-old son witnessed the interaction first hand. Earlier that same day my 9-year-old son had a painful blister on his foot according to my son the counselor repeatedly and harshly demanded he put his shoe back on throughout the day my son reported that each time he explained that the shoe was hurting his foot no basic first aid assistance or a Band-Aid was ever offered and I was never contacted despite living 7 minutes away. By the end of the day my 9-year-old son told me he had a bad headache that the counselor had been exceptionally hard on him and that he did not want to return to camp and see that staff member again. My 11 year old son also reported being distressed by repeated angry outburst from the same camp counselor and did not want to return to camp the following day I immediately reported my concerns to camp administration and requested that my son's being moved to another group they can't fail to fully reassure me that my children would be safe and protected going forward as a parent I ultimately felt I had no choice but to withdraw both of my sons from the camp to keep them safe. I requested the camps written policies regarding physical contact between camp counselors and campers on four separate occasions and have still not received them. As a parent of a child with autism and as someone who has professional training and safe not forceful guiding techniques for children I am sharing my experience to bring awareness to the situation and to advocate for my son's and other children attending camp here.

The first third of the 1/2 mile walking path to the falls was infested with the largest fire ants I've ever seen in my life! We didn't stop walking so they wouldn't have a chance to crawl up our shoes. The pathway was a beautiful walk though, which led to a beautiful, although man-made, waterfall. It was very serene. Well worth the walk to reach there. I did see some people who had reached there from walking from the opposite direction. They said it was a short walk but they had to park on a street. Not sure about entering from that direction. Sighs would be nice indication there's a path up the side of the falls to overlook them from above.

We were told that if we rented a tube, we could use on most rides. We paid for 2 rentals. Our first…read moreslide we waited in line for told us we couldn't use our rentals. As we checked in, since we still had receipt, we asked if we could check out again if two were available. We wild we couldn't and the attendant should have taken our receipt when we got our tubes. So even tho our rental was good for the day, they wouldn't honor our purchase if two were available. Ridiculous.
