Starting w/ the rubber ground and astroturf, wih some give, it's less likely to have an injury. They have lots of things for "little's" to do, including interactive games for even the smallest of kids. There's the typical swing sets, slides, and two versions of merry-go-rounds, that are WAY safer than what most of us grew up with! The two ziplines are pretty cool, and toddler + accessable! My then-7 y/o son was able to climb 8 feet up a structure for its intended use and jump off "on a dare" by other kids and ended up in the ER. I've also assisted with autistic children that elope and get separated due to the multiple exits. There are also multiple places to have a party, first come first served. This also makes things extra crowded. I haven't been there in a while since the heat, but I am hoping they will maintain a good-sized field because independent play (soccer, football, kite flying, etc.) are just as important as playground structures.

My friend and I enjoyed walking the overlook trail, including seeing the views of the lake. The weather was sunny and breezy and we got a good workout. I like that they don't allow dogs here to preserve their wildlife. We saw a couple of deer on our walk which was lovely. We look forward to our next visit to Eagle Mountain Park.

This park is over 700 acres, with about half of it being for off-roading (Jeeps, etc), and about…read morehalf being for hiking and mountain biking. The off roading trails have been open for years, but the hiking trails just opened up in March 2018 and I'm kicking myself that we hadn't checked this place out sooner. The park itself is in between Bridgeport and Chico, off of 101, but is closer to Bridgeport. It's set pretty far back off 101, but is clearly marked with signage, and easy to find. The parking lot was clean & large, with port-a-potties, trash can, picnic tables, and a map of the park available. Right off the parking lot was an entrance to the Butterfield Trail, with complimentary walking sticks available to assist you, which I thought was a really lovely, thoughtful touch. Since it was our first time here, though, and we had the kids with us, we tried out the shortest, easiest trail available: the Oil Rig. The pathways were well-marked and easy to follow. The "easy" hike was truly easy, more of a nature walk than a hike. It was perfect for the time of day and the company we had. My daughter called everything "fairy" this or that because between the light and how beautiful the landscape was, it really was magical. All in all, it was a perfect experience and we can't wait to go back and try another trail.

It was all still worth it as I supported nature and TPWD. The hiking trails were challenging and invigorating. Thankfully they were also very clearly marked. They were a challenge with all the natural rock and rock cliffs. Penitentiary Hollow was the main attraction of the hike. Wow, Lake Mineral Wells rocks with awesomeness! Please camp here!
