You can also buy other items but these are the only products I have tried. First I'll start off with the tamales-- the photos are from my purchase because I completely forgot to take pictures while I was there. I ordered 6 of each kind, they have 4 kind to choose from jalapeño with cheese, red pork, green chicken, and corn (sweeter side). They were all so good, freshly made and packed with deliciousness inside each tamale. My favorite one is the jalapeño with cheese they were spicy but not an overwhelming heat. Honestly it had just enough heat to enjoy and taste it. They all were great and not dry at all. The service was amazing, they always have long lines and at times it can be wrapped around the building. The staff has a great system in place allowing the wait time to be about 6-8 minutes long from start to finish (10 minutes on a busy day). If you are wise don't go alone and have someone tag along. One person to get in line while the other parks-- then one person to get Mexican bread while the other waits in line for the tamales. The inside has a small feel to it only because of the amount of customers they have at any given time. I walked in with what seemed like a short line, only for it to feel smaller in a matter of minutes with many more customers arriving. Overall I would recommend to try them out and see how great they are. Lastly, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful !

You can always call ahead and place an order too. Def recommend that during the holidays because lines get long! What blew me away was the sweet potato cheesecake. It was heavenly in so many way. Extremely creamy yet not too sweet. I tried a couple of their banana pudding and it was so light. This is def a grab and go spot, no seating but spacious inside to gawk at the display in the front with all their sweet treats. They work fast when it comes to getting your order ready so come with your list! Wanted to give this place a try.. Unfortunately my entire family including myself didn't enjoy the sweet potato pie which is what this bakery is known for. Not sure what it is, maybe it has too many spices in it? It was a little too sweet and a bit too dense. Crust was perfect, flaky and buttery. We also grabbed the Sweet Potato Cheesecake. That was devoured. Not too dense and creamy. Sweet potato was swirled into the cheesecake which helped it from being too tangy. Underneath the crust had a layer of granulated sugar mixed in with some crumbly crust. That part was a bit sweet but I just scooped it away and it was fine.

I decided to take my chances and called them on the night of the 23rd, and to my surprise, they were open late (until 10pm), and I was able to place an order over the phone for one dozen tamales. Fast forward to the next day when I arrived to pick up my order. The bakery smelled delicious. Ambiance is very casual and very much a hole in the wall type of bakery. I saw they had a few pan dulce selections, but it seemed like everyone there was mainly there for the tamales, like me. The line was long, and it only got busier after I left. I picked up my tamales and immediately tried one when I got home, and OMG, WAS I SURPRISED! The tamales came individually wrapped and were SO moist, generously filled with meat, and the flavor was on point!! I got a dozen (half pork and half chicken), which turned out to be $30. I 1000% will be back for their tamales and might try their pan dulce next time.

To try this place, I ordered cheese tamales because they didn't have any pork. They gave 1 cheese and the rest chicken instead . I give 2 to be nice and because the cheese tamale had a decent flavor despite being over cooked and pretty dry. But the chicken, oh my goodness , terrible . Super dry and inedible. I didn't want to have to drive all the way back and complain but I have to say, I wouldn't even want them for free.

The day we went (Friday), they also had clam chowder, so we had to get a cup of that, and it comes with a sourdough roll (which was really nicely flavored, and had a nice dense texture). We ended up getting a turkey sandwich, as well as a blueberry scone and a peanut butter cookie (I mean, we had to wait for the sandwich, and the display cases were dangerous). They were very generous with the sandwich filling, the scone was also delicious, as was the soup. The one flop here was the peanut butter cookie. Could have been moister and chewier, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. You order your sandwiches by filling out a simple order form at the back counter. Bathrooms have a code and were clean. There are two single-stalled ones. Parking in the lot in the back. It was pretty easy when we got there.

My ex-wife and I visited here often when we were "broke" college students and always found a way to create an amazing meal from what little money we had between us. This location holds so many memories and to know it's still running after being here for what seems like forever is heartening - still looks the same. I truly long for a place like this in Texas. FYI, they no longer take orders ahead of time for the tamales, it's first come first served! ¡Buen provecho!!
