    Bunch of different pastries
    Benedict A.

The corner store of a shopping center off of Valley and Citrus. The store front is actually called Latin Bakery. Dont know why the difference. But it's a small Bakery. They have a wall of pastries that you can pick from. And to the otherside they have shelves of snacks and other Guatamalan goodies. They have a small chilled freezer for other products. But behind the counter they have a whole kitchen where they produce their baked goods and other hot items. They offer many types of drinks as well as desserts and snacks here. People working here are friendly. They are quick. And the pastries aren't all that expensive. I did learn that there's a difference between tamales (regular ones which I guess are Mexican) and Guatemalan tamales. Not only in the price but evidently Guatemalan tamales are a lot more labor intensive. A nice little specialty shop close to home that cooks up some Guatamalan pastries and tamales!!

The name changed two years ago, from Tikal to Latin Bakery.

Small hole in the wall, Guatemalan food and breads. Nice and small. Service was nice and friendly.

Super friendly lady answering ALL my questions. I got 3 different Guatemalan Tamales and they're all good! I especially liked their "pache" tamale which is potato, I think? Love to try different cultures and their cuisines. Curious to try their other stuff, as I'm more familiar with Mexican cuisine ---they are also the location in the shopping center that has sandwiches, which is what caught my attention with their flag posted along Citrus and Valley.

    Yummy! Cafécito con pan Chapin

The bread here is amazing and it's not easy finding an authentic Guatemalan place. 10/10 recommend

NOT!!! It turned out to be a complete nightmare, I had my husband pick up the cake/cupcakes for me as I was busy setting up decorations. First off it was a two tier cake and upon moving the cake to put in car the top tier started sliding off!! I came to find out that there were no anchors from top tier to bottom layer to give it support ( not to mention the extreme amount of icing between layers causing the sliding )!? I had given her a pic of the cake design to be put on top tier which was the face of "Pikachu" on it (refer to pic) but what I got was "Pikachu" the horror flick! ( also refer to pic) and lets talk about the frosting, it was so thick that the cake was all frosting and an oily looking frosting not at all buttercream with very little cake hidden in the mass of frosting and tsame with cupcakes, piles and piles of icing and we had ordered half chocolate and half white cake but all were white cake and half of them were burnt !! I took one cupcake and showed the owner the difference in the burnt cupcake and he refused to admit it? I took the complete lowered tier of the cake along with the cupcakes back because my guests that did taste the cake were disgusted by the enormous amount of icing and they said the cake was very dry and so the cake/cupcakes were not eaten? Since I had immediately called the bakery right after my husband brought the cake/cupcakes and I saw the "monstrosity" that they made for my party and the owner said if I return he cake/cupcakes immediately he would give me my money back??? He knew good and well that hosting a party that was not an option for us to leave again? So first thing Monday I returned to the bakery with cake/cupcakes in hand ( except for the cake/cupcakes that I had thrown in he trash) but no matter how visual my complaint was, by pointing out all the issues with their order delivery, and even with all the issues presented the owner would not admit to any and refused to return my money, even though he could see what all my complaints were about and why!! So needless to say that was $215.00 wasted and not to mention the embarrassment I felt having to present my guests AND grandson with such a poorly disgusting looking cake that looked like it was made at home by a novice homemaker not an authentic viable bakery....please review attached pics and visualize why this bakery has received this review on YELP, if I can prevent anyone else from going thru the kind of disappointment and embarrassment that this bakery put on me then Ive done my just duty? BTW and as I said the owner could had cared less!?

Wanted to give this place a try.. Unfortunately my entire family including myself didn't enjoy the sweet potato pie which is what this bakery is known for. Not sure what it is, maybe it has too many spices in it? It was a little too sweet and a bit too dense. Crust was perfect, flaky and buttery. We also grabbed the Sweet Potato Cheesecake. That was devoured. Not too dense and creamy. Sweet potato was swirled into the cheesecake which helped it from being too tangy. Underneath the crust had a layer of granulated sugar mixed in with some crumbly crust. That part was a bit sweet but I just scooped it away and it was fine.

You can also buy other items but these are the only products I have tried. First I'll start off with the tamales-- the photos are from my purchase because I completely forgot to take pictures while I was there. I ordered 6 of each kind, they have 4 kind to choose from jalapeño with cheese, red pork, green chicken, and corn (sweeter side). They were all so good, freshly made and packed with deliciousness inside each tamale. My favorite one is the jalapeño with cheese they were spicy but not an overwhelming heat. Honestly it had just enough heat to enjoy and taste it. They all were great and not dry at all. The service was amazing, they always have long lines and at times it can be wrapped around the building. The staff has a great system in place allowing the wait time to be about 6-8 minutes long from start to finish (10 minutes on a busy day). If you are wise don't go alone and have someone tag along. One person to get in line while the other parks-- then one person to get Mexican bread while the other waits in line for the tamales. The inside has a small feel to it only because of the amount of customers they have at any given time. I walked in with what seemed like a short line, only for it to feel smaller in a matter of minutes with many more customers arriving. Overall I would recommend to try them out and see how great they are. Lastly, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful !
