We have been going to Metro Peds for both of my children and have loved them for over three years now. Everyone has also been SO HELPFUL throughout us navigating being new parents and then being new parents of two. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for a pediatrician. Run far away from this place!!!!! I could go on how awful this place has gotten. First, highly inefficient. Schedule seperate appts for vaccines and annuals. I have two kids so this meant going 4x in one month. Not sure why they don't just schedule them all at the same time. INSANE. Second, They gave two of the same vaccine to my 1 year old which I should have charged them legally. Thank goodness she was ok and nothing happened. Lastly, Dr. Griffin is a complete nut job and extremely unethical. My youngest who is 1 and learning to walk had the smallest bruise and Dr. Griffin asserted it could be physical abuse and called CPS. WTF. Weve been going there for 4 years, first time seeing her(usually saw Shultz and Gandhi) and I couldnt believe it. Ordered us to get a full body X-ray and set us on a goose chase to the wrong hospital i.e. VHC not even a pediatric hospital. Then proceeded to call and check in on what the status was when she sent us to wrong hospital. How do you as a pediatrician not know where they do pediatric scans?!!! Pic attached of the bruise that literally caused her to make the assertion. I have heard other horror stories about her since then. Seems she goes to extremes. Hopefully she gets fired. I take my daughter here and while Dr Gandhi and Dr Yetman are amazing, patient, thorough, friendly and make it a safe space for parents to voice their concerns and ask questions. Dr Nour is the complete opposite. We were supposed to see Dr Yetman for a sick visit but Dr Nour came in and she is very judgmental and condescending. As a first time parent, she does not make you feel comfortable asking any sort of questions. We tried to avoid routine visits with her because the beginning few months from birth we were scheduled with her and she was the same- cold and judgmental and spoke to us very degradingly, so moving forward we asked for appointments with any of the other providers. read more

We love Dr. McCarthy. Her office, that's another story. Their medical portal is non-functional in the sense that anything you need to get done has to be done outside of the portal. Supposedly, the portal will keep the child's information secure and avoid email communication with health information. However, whenever anything needs to be done, like school forms or referrals, their portal isn't set up for that. The only option they offer is email, and then only after the parent signs off, absolving them of any responsibility for sending health information over email. They extensively warn parents that information should not be sent over email, but if the parents don't sign to allow it, well, they refuse to prepare school forms. Pure hypocrisy. It's impossible to have an intelligent conversation with the front desk about this situation, as they do not understand and will only send pre-cooked emails in response to any inquiry. Perhaps an AI robot handles responding to their emails? read more

We first visited Metropolitan Pediatrics when I was pregnant as we needed a pediatrician right away due to the impending birth of our son. After visiting one other office, we felt most comfortable with Metropolitan Pediatrics. 1. Our first meeting was 1:1 with a doctor as opposed to a meet and greet. We were able to get a personalized experience and get to know their values as well. 2. They do not allow patients that do not follow the CDC guidelines for vaccines. Whatever other people think, we wanted our son vaccinated per CDC guidelines and did not want the possibility of him being near kiddos who are not on the same schedule. 3. Saturday hours!!! 4. Dr. Schultz is the main provider we have seen. We also saw Dr. Ghandi once. All experiences have been amazing! I love how Dr. Schultz is with our son-very caring and gentle. Also worth mentioning Dr. Ghandi was extremely helpful with a billing question we had. 5. Anytime we have called in with a question, no matter how small, the staff is super quick at getting back to us with an answer from the doctor. 6. All staff interaction from the front desk to the medical assistants has been pleasant. 7. The location is metro accessible (Virginia Square) and has street parking that is pretty easy to snag. 8. The only negative (and it's not the practices fault) is that we had one experience where a younger (maybe 5) boy was very much in our infants face and stroller and knocking into it trying to see the fish and this kids mom was clueless on the other (sick kid) side. We tried to say something to the boy but English was not his language so he didn't understand us and when we went to the other side to ask who's kid this was we got a blank stare until the child finally went back to his mother. Overall, we are very happy with Metropolitan Pediatrics and will continue to use them-specifically Dr. Schultz, in the future. read more

Our experience with this practice was good until Covid. We never had a problem with the drs or staff. Everyone was generally good. It's now 2 years after Covid and they still will not treat a child, even an infant, if they test positive for Covid! They still don't have a policy that helps parents of Covid sick children, even if they're coughing non stop for 2+ weeks! I had this issue with my 10 Month old. Instead their idea is to push us off to an urgent care or ER where we don't know the drs and who will slap us with an absurd bill. Clearly they don't care about their Patients. If you are looking for a pediatrician, I recommend looking elsewhere. I took my newborn here and it seemed great at first -- easy to get appointments, convenient location and they have an app so I could keep track of my child's health records. These are the reasons I gave this place two stars rather than one. Why one star -- My baby was misdiagnosed and prescribed oral antibiotics for an eye infection she didn't have (another doctor confirmed she had a clogged tear duct and instructed me to just put cold compresses on her eye and it cleared within days). I'm certainly not against antibiotic use, but prescribing such a young baby oral antibiotics shouldn't be the first thing a doctor jumps to, especially when clogged tear ducts are far more common at that age. I found this to be incredibly irresponsible, and I lost faith in their credibility. read more

Pros: 1. You typically can get an appointment same or next-day for sick children. In two years with them, I still had to use Urgent Care twice for sick children due to unavailability. 2. The office is clean, murals are fun and make the environment kid-friendly. The fish tank is looking sad these days though. 3. Location is convenient if you don't mind paying for parking. Cons: 1. There is a price to pay for convenience, in the sense that you will never see the same doctor twice. In two years with them, my two kids never saw the same doctor. It seems like there's quite a bit of turn around in staff as well, from the front staff to the doctors. Dr. Gandhi is the staple there. 2. Front staff has been a hit or miss. I concur with some of these other reviews, some will really treat you poorly and as an annoyance to their routine. I remember a day where none of the front staff made eye contact with us and we were pointed with a finger to use a tablet to register (and it did not even work!). Jill, by the way, you are great, keep your kind attitude. 3. Their bullheaded position on vaccination, regardless of your child history or current health. You will see it placated all over their offices, that they will follow the CDC vaccination schedule and nothing else, not even Dr. Sears schedule. When I first brought my two-year-old, I informed the doctor that I was taking it slow with the vaccination schedule due to a bad fever after one particular vaccine. She asked me how old he was, I said 2 and she said no problem "after two, it doesn't matter anymore" sic. I'm not a 100% sure but I think that there's a financial incentive for medical practices to have all vaccines given by age 2. My kid got the rest of his vaccines there and we got all his shots at a slower pace. Fast forward to age 4, their office calls me the day before the appointment to let me know that unless I was going to give my son 6 shots, they would cancel my appointment and drop me as a patient. I let them know that if they were to do that, I would report them for patient abandonment (they have to give you a minimum of 48 hours to find another provider to cancel you as a patient). I quickly got transferred to the office manager who said that they simply did not take anti-vaxxers as patients! Say what? I have three kids all of them have been vaccinated. Again terrible staff! But they kept the appointment and we negotiated it down to three vaccines with yet another new doctor on the premise that I had to bring him back within seven days for the next round. By the way, the CDC gives you two years (4 to 6) to give all the boosters to your children. So, there's no emergency. Sure enough, my kid got a bad reaction. The giving of the vaccines was a horrible experience as the nurse jabbed the kid in a forceful way as he was combative. His left leg swole up and doubled in size and by the end of the day, he was unable to put weight on his leg. I brought him back the next day, the doc (same one this time) said that it was a normal side effect, although you could see that she was quite perplexed about the size of his leg and the ugly blister at the site of injection. It took four days to go away and now he has developed hives on that same leg. She said she would call to follow up and she never did. 4. It's a big practice with huge overhead and given my experience I think that financial gain is more the incentive than the safety of the patient when it comes to vaccines at least. My advice: reduce your overhead and take better care of your patients. read more

I've had four kids come through this place and it was great when Dr Ghandi was is charge. Now that he's gone it has lost it's kindness and replaced it with stiffness- especially at the front desk and one of the doctors is incredibly cold. They called in to remind of an appointment several day's before, I double checked my appointment time when they did. when i arrived the day of they said I was 16 minutes late and their policy was 15. So I would need to leave with my daughter. I made this appointment a year in advance in order to navigate school and work. I didn't get the time wrong. It was 6 minutes past and we were waiting. she said I had the appointment time wrong and would need to reschedule. she gave me two dates that wouldn't work and told me I could call I later to make one. I said I'm here now I'll take some more options. I miss the family style where they knew your name. that's how Ghandi built up his client base. I'm so confused by some of the negative reviews because our experience couldn't be more different. I've had no problems with any of the doctors- and certainly none of them have ever been rude. WE prefer Dr. McCarthy and Dr. Sami but it's no problem getting appointments with the specific doctor we want to see. I generally come in with a list of questions and have never had any difficulty getting all the answers. The doctors have always been really patient with me and my husband. We have never had a billing issues at all in 5+ years. The expanded office is great, with activities to occupy the kids and sick and well patient waiting. Also, I really appreciate that there is almost never a wait past the scheduled appointment time. I couldn't be happier with the practice in general and the doctors we see. read more

The front desk staff really needs to work on their customer service. They were extremely rude to us when we came in with our sick toddler. I really love the doctors and now I'll have to consider changing doctors bc the front staff ruins it for us. They had us waiting for a long time after the flu test results were in. When we asked if we needed to wait they didn't even let us finish our sentence and cut us off and told us we have to wait. After waiting with a crying sick toddler we finally asked the doctor if the results were in and the doctor responded right away and said the results are negative you're free to go. Why make us wait when you see our child is sick and tired. So disappointed. Don't waste your time. read more

i just wanted to share my positive experiences at this practice. I have an almost 3 yo son and I don't dread taking him the Dr. as I did with our other practice. The staff and doctors are very nice and the ones I have seen have a great bedside manner and actually like children. We have seen Dr. Sami and Dr. McCarthy. Both are excellent, take their time, understand a child's attention span and have a great bedside manner. They were able to get my son to cooperate during the exam. I went to Metropolitan Pediatrics after a terrible experience at another Pediatrician. And am I happy I did, the whole staff is absolutely amazing. I'm an over paranoid parent and they always answer my annoying questions. When my LO got a fever and chills after a vaccine they told me to bring her in just in case because her fever wasn't going down, got her in and out! All the doctors I've seen have been absolutely amazing. I wish I could say more! Its a little bit of a drive from Tyson's but totally worth it! read more

If I could give more stars I would. The doctors and staff has always been very helpful! Dr. McCarthy is my sons doctor and she is amazing. It's hard to read the bad reviews for them because i have always had the complete opposite whenever we go in or call. The service that they provide is wonderful. There are multiple doctors there but you can request which doctor you would like to see and they make it happen. For example; I called on the day that my son was sick and they were not only able to fit us in, but with no wait when we got there. Its hard to find a place that is like this one. We love all of the pediatricians at Metropolitan Pediatrics. They are all wonderful with our daughter and are really nice to us. We trust their judgment and their approach to children is well-aligned with our parenting style. As new parents, they were able to calm us down about things that were stressful since they were new, but in the end weren't a big deal. They also gave us good tips and tricks, and at the end of the day just gave us permission to do things we were thinking about anyway, but felt better about after having heard it was OK from a pediatrician. We can always get appointments when we need them, and have never waited a long time when we come in. They have a useful online portal where you can access all of your children's medical records and visits summaries. Overall, just a really good pediatrician's office that we have enjoyed using for the last couple of years, and which we intend to stay with throughout our daughter's childhood. read more

When I was pregnant with our first child, my husband's co-worker told him about an amazing doctor, named Dr. Ramaswamy with a welcoming staff and pleasant office atmosphere. Dr. Ramaswamy surpassed the reports that were told to us. Dr. Ghandi's keen observations helped to save one of our children. Now, Dr. Ramaswamy has retired. Dr. Ghandi is continuing the great standards of care, bringing on new staff and building on the solid foundation. The large aquarium, games that project onto the floor, and calm children shows that play on the tv, provide child friendly and welcoming waiting areas. The front desk staff and physical spaces have grown and expanded. Thank you for continuing to provide informative literature, coupon baskets, and smooth check in - check out systems. To be greeted by a person with a pleasant look on their face and a kind demeanor can be very impactful. We took our son to Metropolitan Pediatrics from the time he was an infant (I gave birth at VHC and Dr. Gandhi was always available with any issues my son had while we were there) to 9 months. We really liked the practice and were forced to switch only because of a move. We saw Drs Gandhi and McCarthy and always came away from the appointments with our questions answered and comfortable with what they told us - both very important for new parents. We never felt rushed during the appts and always felt like they gave honest answers, and not "textbook" ones. I had to call a few times during office hours about issues with my baby, and Dr. McCarthy always called back in a relatively short amount of time (none of my issues were very serious). The waiting room is small and we didn't always get a seat, but there were toys and cartoons on to entertain everyone while we waited. And the front desk staff was always friendly. Parking was convenient and easy. I would highly recommend Metropolitan Pediatrics to anyone in the area looking for a small, personal practice with pediatricians who really care about their patients! read more

It's a great place for kids, and new furnitured reception looks very fashion and cozy, but I would not choose Dr. Gandhi for my children, he never sanitized his hand before touch my children, and his hands are really hard for the little ones. I can feel they suffered a lot. We love Dr. Sami, she's friendly and professional, she really known how to check the children and how to communicate with them. There is 1 doctor here that is adored. She needs to work somewhere else so that we can see her. She saved my kids life - so you imagine how hard it was to leave her and the practice. The practice changed management/ownership and we had to leave because of the shady billing practices that ensued after the changeover. I was billed for a followup appointment for a shot. They billed the insurance company like it was a full appointment. There was no weigh in, bp check or anything. Just a glance at the spot where the shot was received. They also billed the insurance company for days we were not there and services not received. This type of crap drives up costs and we all pay. Oh yes, I did complain. The man I spoke to pretended not to understand me (I am a native English speaker, he was not). He kept saying he would bill me what the insurance would not pay. They have not sent a bill so far. I will update if I get the bill. read more

Have had both of my kids as patients at Metropolitan Peds. Doctors are ok. Dr. McCarthy is better than the others. But there's new docs all the time seemingly. No continuity. Dr. Gandhi is mediocre at best. But the real pain point is the staff. Each and every one is TERRIBLE. The worst I've ever encountered. Rude, lazy and unhelpful. And lots of attitude. Makes me cringe every time I have to go into the office. Worst of all though, you just get the sense that no one here really cares all that much. This is industrial healthcare and you get no sense of passion from ANYONE here, including the doctors. Phone calls don't get returned, no one does followups. Avoid this practice. read more

Like others I am confused by the negative reviews. We have had nothing but good experiences with this office. We met with Dr. Ghandi prior to having our baby and he took the time to answer all of our questions and made the process of picking a pediatrician so much easier! Our daughter is seven months old now and she is our first so we have probably been to the doc more than usual for shots, wellness checks, and parents stressing about something that is nothing :) We have seen every doctor in the practice and love them all. They are always friendly and attentive. I have never left there feeling like I was rushed or didn't get all my questions answered. I have also never had an issue with the front desk staff. Maybe they made a change over the years, but the staff they have now are always helpful and responsive. Anytime we have to have forms filled out they take care of it quickly. I also love that they are open on Saturdays. So helpful! We have also had to use their after hours service once and it was seamless too. Dr. McCarthy called us back in less than 2 mins. I'm new to the area, a single parent, and looking for a doc for my son. I called this place and the voice-mail said not to leave a message but to call back again later. I am busy so maybe hiring a receptionist or one of the services that fills that gap would be beneficial. Nevertheless, I will never know...I won't be calling back and I advise you to not waste your time. So sad given the quality of other services in this area. read more

She reassured me that I had someone to rely on when one of the kids was sick, and educated me on things to look for and how to take care of this or that. I have been taking my kids to see Dr. Meza. She is thorough and takes her time with them. She is a good listener and seems genuinely concerned about their well being. She also remembers them from visit to visit and always has something nice to say. We worked with her and another professional when she had to change medications for one of my children and she was very open to the process. read more
