We have taken our daughter to several Dermatology doctors before with little results in clearing up the server Acne and for a short time it would clear up and return with a vengeance. Now we have found a dermatology group that has taken. Her acne was a social disability and helping wherever come to the embarrassment, she faced going in public. Over the four months, she has seen an improvement that has been life-changing. Our treating physician, David has taken this as a personal challenge to clear up her acne and spends whatever time he has explained the treatment and the work my daughter will have to do on her part to get this behind her. While the office and the nurses were courteous and helpful in general, however, Dr. Doctoroff asked for an allergy test within a few min of as soon as he saw the patient. This test was done without properly reviewing the insurance coverage and explaining the patient's out of pocket charges. We ended up paying $450 as an out of pocket expense for the test. During a subsequent visit, Dr. Lee looked at the skin and immediately said this was eczema and not an allergy. He prescribed the appropriate treatment and did an absolutely fabulous job If at all needed, this allergy test could have been done as a referral from the primary physician and with and allergist and the insurance would have covered 80% of the cost. We ended up paying 90% in this case for something that was unnecessary and an experienced doctor would have been expected to deal differently. 1 star for Dr. Doctoroff and 5 star for Dr. Lee = Average 3 star for the practice read more

Office was clean..only issue is I waited 45 minutes in the waiting room but when I was called in, the Medical Assistant and the Doctor were so friendly that I forgot all about it. This is for the dermatology section. We decided to give this location a try because the one she had been seeing from time to time was now further away, once you enter the building getting to the actual office is like going thru a maze, the waiting room is tiny & when we would tell the dr we had 2-3 things to check out he'd always say "oh, the next time you come back we'll check the other things out. Why only charge the insurance company 1 checkup code when you can charge 2-3. It's a game that the drs & insurances companies play. Main concern was mom is wheelchair bound but they explained how the "lift" works. I was leery because our visits occurred in this past Feb & naturally there was plenty of snow around but the lot was well plowed & the area in front of the door fairly clear as long as people dont go over the line at the parking space right next to it or it would be tough maneuvering. Waiting room is pretty well space we never had a problem finding seats. Office staff is somewhat anti-social but not to the level of nastiness the two previous reviewers mentioned.(I can't imagine it got that bad in a few months but you never know?) For the initial exams each time we saw Dr Kristie Walton. Very positive, professional, explained everything. As it turned out Mom had two tumors the smaller one was done in the office by Dr Doctoroff(great name). Same demeanor, took 45-60 mins total, virtually pain free. Despite the two previous reviews we will visit again as she has other things going on & we'll take note how we're treated. read more

They steal your co-pays. Billing never answer phones or return calls. The doctors and nurse were all good

Whomever does the billing for them is horrible, I continue to get a bill from them and i don't owe them a dime. The receptionist at the Elizabeth office has been very helpful and she also said that i didn't owe money. i can't get thru to the billing department, I've left several messages with no call back. I get a text message from the billing department every Sunday like clockwork. i respond to the text always asking for someone to call me back and no one does. The managers aren't even returning calls. Just horrible customer service! So i received a call today from the billing manager Lauren and we discussed my bill and my frustration with getting it resolved. after reviewing, it was found that i did owe because they had voided the initial transaction for which i was never told. however, this doesn't negate the fact that all of this could've been resolved months ago. I do appreciate Lauren calling and now my issue is resolved. Lauren also gave me her personal cell phone number in case I have issues in the future. That's truly going above and beyond! read more

When I called for appointment, was not told they were no longer in contract with my secondary insurance. After receiving excessive bill, won't to Clark office, young lady at window seemed truly disinterested,told me to call billing, upon doing that they told me they were third party billing, and would have billing specialist call me. When that dId not happen, called again to third party billing and told them I needed to speak on telephone with someone that could resolve, I am still waiting, they are terrible. update: I got a text billing specialist was on chat, when I responded all billing specialists were busy, I have to admire how they have developed perfect system to frustrate you and not to help you, have to think met dermatology must be aware how how ridiculous their billing is. new update, I was called by the director who said they no longer accept United health care, they will accept Medicare as payment which is satisfactory. read more

No one calls me with the biopsy results , even though they were positive for skin cancer . And I am a doctor myself. never going back to that practice. I will not be back. The physician assistant called in a discontinued medication that was imperative it was started today. The pharmacy left her three messages. I left three. Nothing was done. When I called the office for the fourth time I was told she had left for the day. I explained how I needed the lotion called in today and the PA knew that and could someone else call in the replacement med. They refused . I finally called the NY office and spoke with a kind office manager who then called the Clark office to be told that the PA is actually still in the office. I dont knownwhats worse, the fact that they lied or that the PA couldnt bother to check any messages since 11am. I will not be going back. read more

I have been to this office twice both times I was seen by Dr. Doctoroff for different skin issues. The first time was for a skin problem that was misdiagnosed by several doctors and a hospital emergency visit. The problem did not go away in several months. The first time seeing me, Dr Doctoroff took a sample of the skin issue and gave me an idea of what he thought it was but told me to wait for lab work to come back to make sure of what the problem was. Next day his office called me, sure enough he was right and started me on a special antibiotic. After several weeks my skin issue was gone and cured. He was the only Dr. Who gave me the correct diagnose and medication and for that I am very grateful. Second time I was there I had broken out due that I have allergies to so many different things. Again he saw me and prescribed medication which cleared the problem in less then a week. I love this Doctor. He knows his field very well and even though I have not had any skin issues lately (thank God) I would not go to any one else. read more

Although the PA i dealt with was fine their billing department is the worst I have dealt with. They continually say they haven't received payment from my insurance company despite my proving that it was sent by them. My insurance asked them to reach out to them and they will not. I'm going to have to change groups because of it and I've been going for years. There is no way to get in contact with someone to make a complaint, I just keep getting bounced around in billing. They were even going to deny my biopsy appointment because of this imaginary out standing balance. Sound like great healthcare to me, let someone walk around with possible cancer. read more

Not sure if I will be coming back here, came for treatment for acne, acne scarring, and eczema. I was scheduled for a microdermabrasion; but when I came in they said they would only do an extraction.... even if I asked for it- she wasn't going to do it.... so okay- no need to argue right? Let's see how the rest of the appointment goes.... got my face washed, had some tweezers poke 2 times on my face, and then get moisturizer put on my skin and was told to schedule another appointment for the microdermabrasion. Not sure if they are communicating with one another but that definitely wasn't worth the taking time off from work, paying the coinsurance/copay plus whatever the insurance billing will be. I just feel like it's getting over on the insurance billing plus whatever I have out of pocket... Will not be coming back. It was a total waste of time. However a few weeks back I did see the PA for eczema treatment and that was helpful and treated my skin ok... thus the 1 Star. Sorry guys!! Too many other practices in this area. Really disappointed- I took the day off from work so I could come here this afternoon and didn't get the procedure I was promised to help with acne and scarring. read more

The most unpleasant experience with Dr. Cohen. I hope I don't set foot on this office again. He was unprofessional, rude and it appeared he was on a rush to do something (there was a total of 3 people at the office: me, my wife and another person) and wasn't concerned with my well being at all. The visit took less than 2 minutes!. When I asked my wife how did it go, he had an even badder review. Very unhappy my husband had a biopsy done and we received a doom letter stating to schedule an appointment to discuss results and treatment options, only to find out he had a type of rosacea. Then at his appointment the PA he saw sent his script to a medley pharmacy who never contacted us after spending long time on home I finally got someone 24 hours later who told me they had no such script for my husband, I called back and asked them to send it to Walgreens only to find out they sent it back to Medley who billed my insurance for it and never contacted us. Walgreens also got the script but could not fill it because it was already billed. It is now almost a week later my husband has no medicine and when I called to speak to the office manager I was told she was "in a meeting" typical excuse and I am still waiting for a call. STAY AWAY they are not what they once were. I am so disappointed read more

I LOVE Metropolitan Dermatology. I've been visiting the Clark office just under 4 years and In this short time my skin has done wonders. I especially want to thank Karina!! She's one of the esthetician's and she has literally changed my whole life. I go to her faithfully every two weeks for extractions/microdermabrasion, and she keeps me updated on skin care products. I think I've bought every product she's recommended. My mom goes to her every two weeks faithfully too. And Karina got her skin looking amazing!!
