DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND LOOK ELSEWHERE. I am a current resident at Metropolis. I've lived here 6 months and it's a JOKE the way they call themselves a "luxury apartment." Nothing luxury about it. The best part of living here is my apartment. It's my safe haven and wonderfully decorated to my own liking. Everything else here is abysmal at best. 1. Don't be fooled by their amenities-- they're either broken, not cleaned, or just useless. Both jacuzzis are regularly closed off because the water's dirty and suspiciously murky. The gym equipment is not cleaned. The bowling alley is only open when the leasing office is available to set it up for you (closed after 6, on holidays, etc) + the machine is so loud, it's not a pleasant bowling experience. Even the elevators reek of mildew (especially after the cleaning crew comes by to clean it) and there are infestations of mosquitos and flies all over the building. 2. If you're a dog owner, be prepared for LOTS of untrained, unfriendly dogs around. I asked the office if the dogs were friendly and they dishonestly told me that they were. When I go on a walk with my dog, 9/10 dogs are untrained and aggressive. Not what I was looking for since my dog and I typically go on several walks a day. 3. My apartment got BROKEN INTO within a MONTH of living here. I live on the top floor with a loft and somehow still got broken into because of how easy it is to access apartments from the parking garage. I filed a police report and even the officer was shocked how easily he was able to get to my apartment from guest parking. He informed me that Irvine PD would suggest railing or fencing to block accessibility from the parking garage, yet all Metropolis did was put up a sign that says "No Trespassing" 4. There's been an instance where fire alarms were ringing throughout the night (8-11pm) and into the morning (11am- 2pm). There was no explanation as to why-- no email, no nothing. The neighbors and I evacuated with our pets the first several times and were frustrated as to why we weren't getting an explanation. Another neighbor told us to go back inside and said "this used to happen all the time!" When I asked Metropolis what the issue was, they said it was because of a resident burning food (doesn't explain why the fire alarms went off 10+ times) but when I saw a fire marshal go around the building, he informed me it was because of an alarm malfunction. The discrepancy between what Metropolis and what Irvine FD was saying was definitely a tell that Metropolis is not always honest or truthful. Metropolis didn't even have the consideration to send out a courtesy email explaining why and apologizing for the convenience of these fire alarms until I sent an angry email that we deserve at least that. You call yourself a luxury apartment but don't give a flying F about your residents. 5. My most recent incident here at Metropolis. It's been 6 months since I lived here and as a pretty clean person, I did a deep cleaning of my home. That's when I found trash that was not mine. BARF. I found short curly black hair, a tampon, and a empty bag of floss picks behind the bathroom drawers. I was DISGUSTED and APPALLED. I'VE BEEN LIVING IN AN UNCLEAN APARTMENT FOR 6 MONTHS???? Granted, I noticed myself how the apartment seemed unclean when I first moved in but I shrugged it off. It was my first few days of living here and I was excited-- I just took a mental note and cleaned my home myself. This incident was just a confirmation that I wasn't just being picky, my apartment was literally not properly cleaned. When I informed the leasing office of what happened, I didn't even get a sorry. No apology, nothing. I wanted reimbursement for a cleaning service to get my home properly cleaned and they offered their janitorial crew to come by my home... Is that even part of their job description to clean occupied homes? And why would I want them to clean my home when 1. they didn't do it right the first time and 2. it smells like mildew around the building... It isn't unreasonable to get reimbursement when you failed to clean my apartment properly before I moved in. 6. Avoid Eloise in the office like the plague, and be prepared for the office to do absolutely nothing to make your living experience here better in any way. They come up with absolute BARE MINIMUM "solutions" and they refuse to apologize for their shortcomings and mistreatment. There is ZERO consideration for residents. This is not how a luxury apartment should be ran. This is a bottom tier apartment with a few palm trees planted in front to deceive you. I'm sharing all my experiences here at Metropolis so you don't have to. Seriously. You can find 10 different apartment communities just down the street that will serve you better and actually hold up the title of "luxury apartments". If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Great property with amazing amenities so I get the price on rentals. Charge all you want to the people who have the money to occupy the space. But whose idea was it allow these hood rat ghetto people who clearly don't make enough income to live here and destroy the property? Because they qualify for the "low income" program? Pathetic. I have been living at Metropolis for just under a year now (Lease is up end of this month), and it has been a great experience. The reason I give this review 4 stars instead of 5, is because there are some problems, but overall they are pretty minor. I'll be splitting this up with pros and cons, for convenience of those who are reading this. Pros: 1. I had a very easy time getting approved to live here, as the leasing agent Cheryle was extremely helpful. She gave me a call as soon as a unit was about to become available so I could try and reserve it. She is 100% my go to person for any problems I have in my unit. Whether it was shower head issues, or fridge filters, she was always ready to help. 2. It really is a beautiful complex. Pool is very nicely maintained, a lot of nice areas with a lot of green. Arcade is well maintained, and bowling alley is seems very clean. 3. This complex does a lot of small things that really change the way I view this place. For example, a package was left outside the leasing office, and they called me to see if they wanted to through it into a parcel locker for me. They leave little towels for the gym that we can use, then throw into a basket to get washed. etc. 4. The units are massive. so much room, and very modern. All appliances are stainless steel, and carpet and wood floors seem of high quality. 5. There is a TON of guest parking. Although there seem to be a lot of residents using those spaces for their 2nd or 3rd car (ill get to that in cons), every floor in the 1000 building has guest parking, as well as the entire roof. And now for the parts you are most likely reading for, the cons: 1. Not really something that Metropolis can really do too much about, but there are some serious "Karens" and a**holes in this apartment complex. Had an incident with an upstairs neighbor stomping on the floor above me whenever I was watching a movie past 10 pm, and i mean TO THE DOT. They left me a very disturbing note, threatening me. I took it to the leasing office to have records of the incident in case things escalated, but luckily it hasn't (knocking on wood). There was also an incident where someone drove straight through Sullivan street at about 30 miles an hour, almost hitting a mom and 2 kids. he slammed on the breaks, once he saw they jumped off the street, he proceeded to speed straight through without letting them cross. I confronted the moron, but he just didn't care. That really pissed me off, but like I said, not much can be done about that. Adding to this, point 2: 2. People are awful drivers here. They really speed in the parking lots and have almost been hit more times than I can count on my hands. And I know its not me, because I have driven past accidents in the parking structures from people going to fast around those corners. The walls around the corners are very high, so it is really hard to see when someone is there. You have to rely on these little mirrors, but they are a lot of times not pointed in the right direction. 3. A lot of people have already pointed out, but there is a lot of random trash left in many places which sucks. People tend to be very lazy, and leave the trash that doesn't fit in the trash chutes in the trash room, instead of going down to throw it away themselves. People also like to leave trash bags outside of their doors for days, which is really gross. 4. Last point, the amenities aren't perfect (obviously). a. The bowling alley is so complicated that the leasing office has no idea how to turn it on/off/help residents get their lane. They hired someone that sits at the bowling alley to turn it on, but a lot of times she is not there. And to make it worse, the bowling alley has rarely worked for me. There is always at least 1 lane that is shut down because it doesn't work. The whole bowling alley goes under maintenance often, and it doesn't seem to get fixed. b. Even though the pool has lanes painted on the bottom, as it is considered a "lap swimming pool", the temperature is WAY too hot to comfortably swim. I understand that it needs to be catered for those that don't go to just swim laps, but as a swimmer I cannot swim laps here. I get overheated after just swimming 2 laps. So if having a lap swimming pool is something that you are excited about from this unit, please be aware that it is very very warm in there and will make it very difficult. Overall, I give this complex 4 stars, as there are problems, but nothing that I would say "I am never living here again". No complex is perfect. I will be renewing my lease in a couple weeks, so that can give assurance to anyone on the fence that its a nice place to live. Once again, shout out to Cheryle. She is truly amazing. read more

We love it here and decided to extend our lease for another year because of the quality of service and overall condition of the apartments. 2 years after I've moved out, they keep sending me a bill for "cleaning fees". I paid $200 for maids to come clean so there shouldnt have been anything to be paid. If you're thinking of hiring someone to be courteous and leave the place way better than when we moved in (that's a whole other story-- my apartment was INCOMPLETE when we moved in 2 years ago) don't bother. I have to say that this place is super fun.. it seems like the whole downstairs is for entertainment.. lounge areas, quiet reading areas, bowling, air hockey, amazing pool side seating and a very polished living area. Doug was so nice and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of! Max was like his right hand man and was right there to help with anything that was needed. They both made bowling way more fun! Bowling was so much fun! The lanes are full size and work very well.. Also big plus.. they have charging stations free for residence on every level of the parking structure.. that made it nice for my electric car. Tons of picture opportunities here at the property! We recently moved into this amazing apartment complex. My family and I are very happy with the spacious apartments, the very clean common areas including the stairs and the elevators. I just hope that the amenities open up soon so we can enjoy even more. We just had our first minor service request and it was done fast and super friendly by Michael W. He was very helpful, polite and friendly. Thank you Michael. I highly recommend this property for any one who is looking for high-end place to live in. The staff are great and friendly and very sweet. Cheryl and Natalie are super helpful and very kind. The amenities are great when they are working. The fire pit at the pool hasn't been working since we moved in and that was almost 6months ago. When we first moved in everyone was on their A game but as time has passed things have slowly declined. You always saw the security staff and they are really great too The challenge with these apartments is they say it is a smoke free apartments which it is not we have had issues with people smoking pot and cigarettes. And nothing seems to be resolved. I usually wouldn't care but we moved into these apartments because it was a smoke free apartments and myself and my daughter have lung problems. Just moved in and couldn't have made a better decision! We toured various apartment complexes around the OC area, but nothing stood out like Metropolis. The amenities in this complex (resort-style pool, large gym, bowling alley, study lounges) are remarkably clean, spacious, and modern. During COVID-19, they've also included a free membership to Motion Fitness, which offers HIIT classes and is conveniently down the street. Our apartment includes brand new stainless steel appliances and many cool features like the Nest thermostat and the SkyBell door bell. Our leasing agent, Cheryle, was so helpful throughout the whole application and move-in process. She found us the best property with our budget and was easily accessible through phone/email when we had questions. read more

I'll start off by saying that, as an apartment complex, it's actually really nice. The apartments are clean and spacious and the facilities are beautiful. My issue with Metropolis stems from their customer service - the issues I faced may not be big deals to some, and if not, then this could be the right place for you. 1. They mean it when they say "no smoking" (even vaping) - it's not like Irvine Company where you can get away with it. 2. They take the 10 pm quiet hours deadline very seriously and will knock on your door at 10:02 if you're being even slightly loud. 3. When I got married, I asked to add my husband to the lease. They not only refused, but they threatened to evict me if they were made aware that there was an unauthorized tenant (read: my husband) living in my apartment. This was after 4 weeks of confusing back and forth where first I WAS allowed to add him, then I magically wasn't. It made me wonder if they were discriminating - they only reversed the decision when I submitted his name, which is very obviously Arab. 4. My dog nipped (didn't bite) at one of the leasing agents after she approached him too quickly. She lied and told the office he bit her, refused to show us her hand to prove it, then logged an "incident" against us. To be fair, he was off leash which is against policy, but the whole way it was handled was just gross. 5. I moved in right as the pandemic started, so all of the amenities closed within two weeks of my move-in date. There was not even a $1 reduction in our rent despite that most of the amenities were closed during my entire 14-month lease. All of that being said - most of the staff is incredibly friendly. The rules they're enforcing aren't theirs so I'm not upset about them doing their jobs. Their maintenance staff is also really great and friendly and we're always quick to fix our issues. Having dealt with other apartment complexes before, I was really surprised by the rigidity of this place. You're definitely not a "tenant" - you're a cash cow, and their rules are their rules, regardless of any kid events (aka getting married). Looking back, I wouldn't live there again, but if you're a super strict rule follower then maybe that kind of culture won't bother you. read more

Let me start off with the whole I would give zero stars if I could. I haven't even moved in yet and I already hate the place. Unfortunately I already signed the whole damn textbook of paperwork so now I'm stuck. The entire process of moving in has made me more stressed and irritated than my entire 4 years of college and I was a double science major, I know f***g stress. The entire process with the office was so inefficient, unorganized and convoluted. Every day they request some paperwork or information last minute and expect you to get it done within the hour. Would it not be easier to create a pdf document containing all the information all future residents need to complete prior to moving in so that he/she can send it all at once to the office? Obviously yes, but as you can tell they don't have the mindset to think with common sense. Also, you would think you would be assigned one agent. Hell no! You get 5 different office workers flooding your email, requesting different or sometimes the same information: renter's insurance, IDs, parking registration number and etc. Then they email you again, pending information that you did send another agent! Once again, disordered and unsystematic. Next you send what they request. "Sorry it is rejected because it does not make our life easy, we need it in this format." I'm sorry, you are not making my life easy, and by the looks of it your process is already not f****g easy, so I say deal with it. To reiterate, the stress of moving in is not worth this so called "modern, luxury, dynamic" apartment complex. read more

Metropolis is a really nice apartment complex with modern furnishings, nice gym, pool, bowling alley and gaming room! Moving in was smooth and easy, Cheryle helped made the process very simple and was very quick in answering all my questions through phone and email. I've lived here for about three months and do not have any major complaints and would recommend to my friends and family. I particularly enjoy the events metropolis hosts about once a month such as paint night, taco night, and crepe brunch. All on the house! All you need to do is show up. This morning woke up to sooty water as I was about to wash my face and brush my teeth. Called maintenance nothing for 2 hours. Called again to expedite came in 20 min. Maintenance tech said everything should be okay now because they did something with boiler but they are done now. I run my shower again after about 10 min I have the same result. .i want to take time to write about the Metropolis apartments because it was the worst two years of my life living there. when they first meet you to show you the apartment, they are really nice and they go above and beyond to take care of you. but when you move in you are on your own and they are the worst management you will ever work with. starting from the blonde chick who is the top manager and then the assistant manager who's name is Travis. Travis is the biggest prick and most predigest person you will ever work with. they have so many stupid rules that makes you hate living there. i was at the pool this last summer and everyone was talking shit about the management team and how they have been treated by them. no one was happy with living there. the only people that i had a great experience with and they go above and beyond are KATRINA AND THE POOK GUY WITH LONG CURLY HAIR. they are the nicest and most helpful people. the worst experience of my life at METROPOLIS. We have lived here for about 3 years now and I wanted to come and say how happy we've been living here. While there have been issues (as any apartment complex might have), the staff has ALWAYS tried to give us solutions and accommodate any problems we might have run into. I have talked with Cheryle, Jerrad, and Katrina on multiple occasions and they are absolute top notch employees with amazing customer service skills. Metropolis is lucky to have them. Most of these reviews make me think that people have never lived in an apartment before. We have never had noise issues and my husband and I always laugh that we have NEVER heard our neighbors, it's like we live by ourselves in a condo. We have also never had a noise complaint in the years we have lived here, which is surprising considering the movies/video games we play at a louder volume. The staff was great amidst COVID-19 in keeping residents up to date in such an unprecedented time. As soon as the state allowed gyms/pools to open, the amenities were opened within a couple weeks. Amenities are always clean and I feel that the gym is cleaner than any 24 hour fitness you'll encounter. The parking garage can be a little interesting with people speeding around corners, but so long as you use the garage mirrors and drive cautiously we have gone without incident. Metropolis has been a great place to live for our family. Don't listen to all the negative reviews, I promise that it's not an accurate reflection of Metropolis. read more

I will admit that my time at the Metropolis was good enough for a place to sleep and live in, but it is not as great as it would seem. My biggest problem is inconsistency in enforcement of items by the leasing office and team at The Metropolis. It's almost like they like to pick and choose their fights. Here are a list of incidents that I have brought up to Metropolis staff and have seen no resolve: [ No Dogs Allowed in Pool Area ] They state this in the leasing agreement and let you know from the start, but I see dogs in the pool area all the time and nobody comes to stop them. Meanwhile, one time I went to get coffee in the lounge area and was roughly approached by a leasing agent and told dogs were not allowed in the community area. I did not know this, when I signed my lease I was not told this. The leasing agent rudely told me to look at my lease agreement as it was upgraded. But why did I not receive an email of this change? My original lease did not state this. It was a very rough and unhappy experience and I felt like I was being singled out. [ Parking Rules not Enforced ] Always - always people are not abiding by parking rules and the staff does NOTHING. I have communicated with many other residents about a particular BMW i8 who is always taking a charging spot and never moves his car. This month has been the worst! He has been in the spot for almost 3 weeks now and it's crazy!! Metropolis does nothing about it. Other cars cannot charge and it's very disrespectful. WHAT IS EVEN WORSE! They let him parking notices, and even wrote "sorry sir" on it like they are afraid to bother him with a violation! No enforcement of anything, it's very upsetting because other residents have received parking violations and have been harassed when they did nothing wrong. NOT JUST THIS! But there are also people who park in handicap spots that are not handicap and do not have placards! ALSO! There are residents who leave items and stuff on their parking spots even though the lease agreement says to keep your parking spot clean! There are even vehicles (like a motorcycle) parked in a spot that's NOT A PARKING SPOT. But nothing is to be done about this! [ Elevators Not Working or Reserved without Advanced Notice ] Because the elevators are also the same ones used for moving, they are constantly being broken down or reserved. Breaking down elevators I can understand somewhat. But if an elevator is to be reserved for the WHOLE DAY. A heads up email would be nice so that residents could plan accordingly. Sometimes I will have delivery or groceries and I cannot use the elevator that day but did not know. So this is very inconvenient and thoughtless for current tenants!!! [ FIRE ALARMS always go off! ] If you love the sound of fire alarms going off very randomly, this place will have this for you. All hours of the day and night, the fire alarms go off... EVEN in units that are vacant! Very faulty and annoying for all tenants. Especially when it goes off during the evening when we are trying to sleep! [ Guest Restriction Policy - NOT ENFORCED ] Metropolis does not have space for you to entertain guests. They limit the amount of guests you can have by 2/residence. Because they have no entertaining space, this can be very hard to do because you do not want to have all your friends in your apartment unit, but you also would like to be respectful to the rules. I had my friends (Total was 5 of us) with me to study in the lounge area, and we were quiet and respectful, but a leasing manager roughly accused me of breaking lease agreement. I quickly and embarrassingly collected my friends and we went up to my apartment to continue studies. But then on the same day, I see that there are a whole party of children down in the swimming pool, screaming and shouting and making so much noise. Surely, the apartment unit does not have 12 children. But the leasing agency says nothing to this. Why? Is it because children get special treatment. Even worse, sometimes children will come into the gym and the parents (who are guests too it seems) will let them play around the gym area which is very dangerous for people working out and for them. But no one says something about this? Leasing agent will harass quiet respectful people, but not enforce on people with many children who are being loud and a danger to the space and residents??? Sometimes I think maybe the leasing agents are maybe racists. When I see all the problems they do not address, it's with people of other race who are not Asian. Meanwhile - I, an Asian - Chinese - see myself and others (all Asians) getting singled out by leasing agents. Is this a stereotype? Is it because we are easier to pick on because you think we are scared or cannot speak the English language perfectly? It is also funny, that despite having very many Chinese residents they do not even have one Asian leasing agent? Does metropolis have racism??? Would I suggest here. Not really. read more

REALTOR'S BE CAUTIOUS- This is the only place I've had trouble with getting the promised referral fee for bringing them new tenants and I have still yet to receive it. Love the community and my clients do as well but the communication is very off. I was told my clients didn't put me on the application so I wasn't qualified for the referral but as you can see in the photos below, I definitely qualify as the office staff was very aware and asking for the necessary documents to be paid. I'm actually friends with the tenants and we did the application together at my house so I know I was added. So much so, that they will be writing a review as well. During a pandemic where work is a lot slower, I rely on being paid on time for my services. It's a shame that such a beautiful community wouldn't support local realtors bringing them clients as there touring offices are closed or limited. I guess that's what you get when company's rely on greed. Anyway, I just wanted to post this so other realtors can way their options when looking for accommodations for their clients. I will say that the community is absolutely beautiful though and if your just searching without a realtor, I would highly recommend! Just don't rely on clear communication from the leasing consultants. The assistant manager is very upfront and clear though, ask for him. I will update this review if anything changes. read more

Out window screen was broken and supposed need to order it and wait for 10 days until new parts arriving. However, Beu Flores and Allen Maravez helped me to find one and replaced the broken piece within around 2 hours. -nice big balconies which are hard to find -if you live facing White, you will have a great view but deal with the noise from the business at all hours of the night. Thought Irvine had rules about this, but the plastics company across the street works 24/7 and always has semis idling at all hours of the night that WILL keep you up. When I emailed the front office they told me there was nothing they could do. -units are nice, but the longer we live here-the more you see how fast it was built. many windows/counter top is pulling away from the wall and practically cracking. -awesome amenities -some neighbors are more than inconsiderate. My neighbor that parks next to me parks 3 inches away from my car everyday and it's impossible to use my passenger door. Also, drive very slow because everyone in their sports cars whip around the parking structure. Almost been hit multiple times -cleaning staff is extremely nice and hard working-A+ -I've had a few emails go completely ignored... -one of my biggest issues that has changed...we are no longer permitted to park on Sullivan. Until 6pm everyday, only workers of the businesses in the strip mall in front of us are allowed to part there-what?!?!? This is OUR complex and that should be for OUR guests. Our guests and family members usually have to end up parking in an abandoned parking lot across the street that isn't paved and my sister got a flat tire from. We had an 18 month lease here and have nothing but good things to say. It's clean, the staff is very responsive and kind and the amenities are great! We were always at the pool, gym, bowling alley and arcade. The couple of maintenance orders we put in were handled quickly. When one of our two pets passed they changed our lease so that we wouldn't be paying pet rent for a pet that was no longer with us. We didn't mount any tvs, or put any holes in the wall, so when we moved out all we had to do was clean and we ended up getting our whole deposit back (minus our last month utility bill). If we didn't end up purchasing a home we would have stayed. We'll miss it here! read more

I have lived in property for over a year and I must say I'm very disappointed in the SECURITY they are very rude especially one young man black gentlemen with a beard I could hear him outside of my window on many occasions being inappropriate to residents in his approach demanding people to listen to him. I am a fan of all amenities and the great office STAFF very friendly but your security needs help he is very rude and has power issues he should not be working within a luxury building He works night shifts I believe and was awfully rude to a nice young man for really no reason I'm only giving this building 3 stars because of the security I saw today harass a tenant minding his business before bullied by the bearded security and because the amenities have been closed off for over 2 months due to coronavirus but not fair to the tenants to pay full price still. read more

I loved living at Metropolis. From Ahmad who sold us the place when we first saw it to the maintenance guys and all the staff working at Metropolis did an amazing job. I don't even know where to start but I highly recommend this place. Living here truly felt like waking up in a resort every day and Im truly sad we had to leave due to work/family. Some of the community's great amenities/perks that we all enjoyed are the beautiful large pool, the jacuzzi, gym with free yoga classes,playground for kids, free coffee, monthly free lunch/dinner events, free candy machine, free hot coffee, arcade room, bowling, poker room...you name it and they have it. I thought this place was worth every penny that we paid. It's truly a luxurious apartment community with good service. I think if they could add a concierge, then no other community in the area can beat them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! Don't even look at other apartments, this one is the best!! I will definitely be missing this place :( read more

I am absolutely obsessed with the amenities and all the beautiful features this place has to offer! What really stood out about Metropolis to me when I was touring apartments was the amazingly sweet person who helped to give us a tour, Cheryle. She was very helpful answering all of my questions and concerns. I work nights so it was really important for me to find a place that is quiet enough for me to sleep during the day. I appreciate that she was upfront and honest about the noise levels around different areas of the apartment, which helped me to decide on selecting which unit would work for me. Cheryle also helped me coordinate my move in, which was pretty seamless minus a few hiccups on my end. All in all I would say so far our experience with Metropolis has been excellent. read more
