When my husband recently passed, it was clear that a funeral wasn't his "thing", and we opted for Celebration of Life instead. This is not an easy event to organize, you want to hit just the right notes of sorrow, and yet joy. The decor has to be subdued but not depressing, the ambience respectful but also casual, warm, and welcoming. I do not know how to thank Anita, the Special Events coordinator at the Metropolis Ballroom, enough. She helped us get everything EXACTLY RIGHT, and did it all with a gentle kindness that was exactly what I needed at that most difficult time. The event was amazing, the venue could not have been more perfect, and I happily give Anita and the Metropolis Ballroom a full five stars. May all your events be for joyous occasions!

Our family went to Metropolis Ballroom for Mother's Brunch, and it was such a wonderful experience! It is rare to see live sushi station at a brunch buffet. They have a good variety of rolls and even sashimi! Oysters and prime rib are our favorite as well! Beautiful place with outdoor seating. Our family took a lot of photos on the veranda. Live entertainment is a young and talented violinist. We for sure will be back next year if they have it again.

Found in Arlington Heights downtown, an exciting up and coming area. Who knew? Not me. Free ample parking next door in the parking garage. Street parking is available dependent on the day, weekends can be very, very busy. Check out the Metropolis website, ample photos detailing the rooms available, seating, spirits selections, etc. Easy access to the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre as well. Invited for a work holiday party, we were seated in one of the smaller party rooms. The room composed of brick faced walls and opposite that, a painting (on the wall) of a king and queen seated as jesters and musicians performed for their enjoyment. Great space for our party of 20+ guests, tables were shaped in a "U", ease for the servers to serve to the table and allowed for us all to see and talk. Room came with a bar / staff & two in room servers. It really benefits your event when tip is included in ordering & paying for your party. For this event, that's what they did and all cocktails served were STRONG. The selection of spirits, I would say were "well" or "call" brands. I'd say most stopped after two drinks. LOL. When you book a three hour open bar, be wary, though the time was thoroughly enjoyed. Few people tried to tip for drinks which was discouraged by the bar staff! They must've been well taken care of, or, they just want to show their customers "their" level of service. Compliments to the staff for being excellent and engaging throughout the party. During drinks maybe four courses of appetizers were served. Nothing too amazing or worth mention. Dinner: I was surprised that the portions weren't bigger, it was just enough to say that you have eaten. Based on the look of the ballroom, the fact that the department head was so adamant that everyone attend this holiday party, I suspect the per person charge would've been expensive. Still, how could they serve just a meager portion? First course, cucumber salad with field greens? See photo. Second course, I ordered the Angus Beef Tenderloin, it arrived drenched in Au Jus with a twice baked stuffed potato and some mixed veggies (sugar snap peas and carrots). A 1 would've been a good alternative to the brown gravy, had it been available. Also there was no option to how the steak should be prepared, it arrived, medium rare. Yuck! I hate to see blood on my plate. The potato could've had more stuffing and veggies were good. Dessert was a joke. A martini glass filled with maybe a oz of vanilla ice cream, topped with a bit of fudge chocolate syrup and served with a dipped pirouette cookie. They were trying, but not hard enough. Ridiculous, was that, as it was served to each person you could see an order of progression. The first glass had as much in it as mine had. Further down the table the amount of ice cream increased while the amount of fudge decreased. Towards the end of the tables, the glass was filled fully with ice cream, lowered amount of fudge and no pirouette cookie. We called the servers over and inquired about it. They agreed it was odd, it even seemed like they'd noticed that earlier before serving. Did they do anything about it? No. They just smiled and talked amongst themselves. Room full of holiday partier's who have had alcohol and were looking towards a decent dessert, what were these Idiots thinking. Presentation of the food overall was fine. Customer service, having answers about problems with food, etc, wasn't great. For a small gathering its alright. Concerning a larger occasion I would require more clarity.

It's a small, quaint park perfect for walking with a circular path along the park. There's 2 jungle gym parks for kids across the field, as well! My sister and I did countless loops since this park is a bit on the smaller side. The parking situation is great, too - there's plenty of parking available by the conservatory and the park. The little conservatory was closed when we came, but I definitely wanna come back and check it out! The park's trail goes right by it. There's also a church right next to it, so I saw cute old couples and families with kids still in their church clothes walking around and playing at the park. I'd definitely come back here for a picnic at the park, a nice stroll, or to check out the conservatory!

My wife and I had our wedding here this weekend and I could not speak higher praise of LaMirage…read more We do not know how to even begin to properly convey how grateful we are. A thousand thank yous would not be enough for the incredible job LaMirage did this weekend. They have our never ending appreciation for the amazing work they did for us; our wedding was everything we had envisioned and much, much more. When we started considering venues, we knew Lamirage would do an excellent job as both of us had family that had married here before. This is a staple Eastern European venue in the Chicago area and its hard to find someone in this community who has NOT been here. Still we had a lot to consider, and chief among them was cost. Ruslan worked with us on the budget and let us tailor the perfect reception that was a good balance of decadant and affordable. He offered very good advice on what to keep, what we could substitute, and what we could do without entirely. He was very objective and did not pressure us into adding anything we did not want. In the months leading up to the event, our correspondance was with Victoria. When the details all started to get jumbled in our minds, she was able to keep everything straight. She understood that this was our first time planning a wedding and there was just so much we didn't know to do. We probably made her job very difficult but she was only ever calm and collected, always pointing us in the right direction and reassuring us that things will all work out. I think what my wife and I are most impressed with is how smoothly everything came together on the day of. I know it was not easy with an event that had so many moving parts, so many different points of contacts; I'm certain that it seemed like they were all planning their own seperate weddings! We recognize all the accomodations, flexibility, and attention to detail they had to exhibit to make the day go smoothly and certainly there was so much more behind the scenes we couldn't even comprehend; they shielded us from any problems that developed and for that their efforts will be remembered forever. The food was incredible. We of course could barely find time to eat a thing; we stuffed ourselves on pelmeyni and garlic potatoes (amazing!) between bouts of toasts and dancing but couldn't find time to try everything. On the next day from what we took home everything tasted great! If that was what was LEFT OVER, I can only imagine how good the things that got gobbled up tasted. Of course this is all Russian Banquet style of food. If you are at one of these events, this is what to expect. I'm sure there are many people out there who had no idea what they were signing up for; your typical "chicken or fish?" reception is not what you are here for! The accomodations are also top notch here. There is a seperate locking bridal suite with a private bathroom, a safe, and constantly repleneshed pitchers of refreshments. Never could I have predicted how useful that would be. They also had hired security ensuring the gift table was always monitored. That is a detail we did not even know to consider and Lamirage took care of it. We could not be happier with our choice of venue. Our only reservation when we were picking LaMirage was the fact that SOO many of our family members had already been wed there, but from our very first meeting with Ruslan, we felt comfortable knowing that no effort would be spared to make the day unique to us, and that is exactly how it was! We will never hesitate for one moment in recommending LaMirage to our family, friends, and hopefully one day, our children! Thank you to all the Lamirage staff from the bottom of our hearts.

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at Meridian on October 8, 2021, and we were…read moreso thankful for everyone here. We had such a positive experience and everyone was amazing at answering my questions, because of course, I had a lot of them. Joyce and Tina were my regular contacts, and we would email back and forth about anything I needed or inquired about. My husband and I knew Meridian was the perfect venue for our wedding because 1) it has a huge hall and welcome area 2) the rooms all have gorgeous chandeliers that make the room look extremely elegant 3) the prices were great and we could have filet mignon and chicken together as a combination plate cheaper than most places with just one protein choice 4) it used to be a movie theater, so there are different rooms and wings of the venue itself. There is even an aerial view for the photographer to get pictures in the old projection room above the dancefloor. Because we had our wedding ceremony at the venue, too, the staff eagerly created a chapel-like room for us so that we didn't need to get married in our reception room (something I was against). We did have to pay a bit more for the extra room, but it was extremely worth it for the outcome. They gave us complimentary uplighting in the ceremony room, as well as in the reception room, and we chose a light blue color. We also were able to choose the color of our satin napkins, and we chose burgundy since our wedding colors were navy blue and burgundy. On our wedding day, the food was amazing and we have gotten many compliments about how great everything was. People have told us that it was the best food they had at a wedding, which makes me so happy. We chose to do the combination plate of filet mignon and chicken Vesuvio for the non-vegetarian plate, though we changed the sauce the filet mignon came with to the peppercorn one. It was amazing, and I would know because I made sure to eat at our wedding. We also chose to have glazed baby carrots which were absolutely to die for in my opinion because they had a brown sugar/maple syrup glaze. As much as I enjoyed all of the food, our soup was hands down the best part because we chose the cream of chicken and it was SO THICK and creamy. YUM! Our service at our wedding was awesome, and everyone was so nice and helpful. If we had to do our wedding again, I would still choose the Meridian because they helped us feel so comfortable. We also were planning a wedding during the unknowns of the COVID pandemic, so that was extremely stressful because they had no idea what our wedding would look like, either, but thankfully we did not need to change our date or change ANYTHING we planned for our wedding at all. They also partner with The Baking Institute for wedding cakes and we were so impressed with ours! It was amazing and they decorated it EXACTLY how we wanted it to be decorated.

What a relief to have such an important event go so smoothly both times. The first event I attended was a wedding and the second event was a wedding shower. Both events had a nice flow throughout the event with the food & drinks arriving on time and the temperature of the food was perfect. The manager (Joyce) of the Wedding Shower I attended on Sunday was so helpful through every stage of the Event. Joyce made sure that we were completely satisfied with everything from the seating arrangements to the temperature of the food & drinks. She never once disappeared or slacked off. I was helping to organized the event so she made my job super easy. I was glad that I chose Garden Terrace by the day's end. I will certainly choose Garden Terrace Banquets for any future events I have requiring a Banquet Hall. Not only was the food great but the prices were very reasonable and much less than their competitors. Kudos to the staff for making our day!

The ceilings are lower, which gives it a cozy feeling, and the room comfortably accommodates 200 people. Our wedding had about 130 people, and that felt very comfortable with 6-8 people per table. There are windows on two sides of the room, and a small patio for guests who needed to get some fresh air! The staff at Garden Terrace are great to work with and extremely flexible. They offer very basic chair covers and centerpieces to use at your event, but were willing to let me bring in my own centerpiece arrangements, as well as chairs. I told them how I wanted everything set up, and they made sure it happened. We went with a station buffet, and got to pick every kind of food for each station. We were also able to add in some premium spirits to our well-beverage open bar (Premium vodka & whiskey) without having to upgrade to another package which was a huge money saver. There is a small pond/gazebo to take pictures outside, and it worked very well for our 12 Person Bridal Party. The only not so stellar thing about this venue is that it is attached to a Park District Building. In the same hallway as the bathroom, there was an entrance to an auxiliary gym, so it felt a little less than formal. However, it was very nice to have the complete attention of the venue, without having multiple weddings going on like at most Banquet Halls. The pricing is very competitive, if not a smidge better than surrounding venues. If you don't want to break the bank, but want to keep your wedding in the suburbs of Chicago, consider Garden Terrace for your event!
