First time there for a "cracked tooth" which was actually a filling (recommended by a different dentist long ago for a supposed cavity that needed work even though there was no discomfort). They didn't point that out immediately (the shape of the breakage was too round and smooth to be a regular crack. Instead they additionally recommended TEN (10) cavity fillings based on browsing my x-rays. No discomfort anywhere in my teeth except the filling that fell out. They didn't even ask about that. No idea what the timeline is on each cavity before it actually becomes a problem. They basically talk about "eventually" which is just plausible deniability and non-specific instead of triage -- which ones are at what stage, how soon before it becomes a problem. Possibly because I qualified for government dental and they could milk me for as much work as possible. Sorry but I don't want 10 unnecessary fillings that will end up falling out and becoming 10 root canals. read more

When I was a little kid the dentists here pulled a tooth from me without telling me, and I felt pretty violated. That was years ago and I have since forgiven any miscommunication. Today, a decade later, the folks here are still my dentists. 6 months ago I had my wisdom teeth removed (in full knowing this time!) by Dr. Ajar, who was friendly, not judgemental, and answered all my questions fairly about the process. I was worried about getting dry sockets and he reassured me and explained why that was an extremely low risk for me, and I appreciated how logically he explained it, instead of brushing it off. 6 weeks ago I signed up to get invisaligns by Dr. Belinda Weltman, orthodontist. She too very patiently explained the process and helped me make the decision between Invisaligns and traditional braces. This time I was worried about lisping, and she told me I might for a few days after I first put them on, because of the foreign object in my mouth, but with a bit of practice I'd be speaking normally. She also made an effort to get to know me and why speaking was so important to me (career in communication), and it made a difference in the way we interact. My other experiences with checkups and cleaning are kind of average, a bit painful, but nothing outside the scope of what one should expect at the dentist. The receptionists are always friendly and helpful, and I'm always surprised to find that they remember my name. The whole experience at Metroplex dental just feels like everyone communicates with everyone else and is on top of things. And if there is ever a question, they're pretty proactive in letting you know and clarifying things. And that is quite possibly the most reassuring thing of all. read more

It seems every time I have had an appointment here over the past 3.5 years I get a different person for my cleaning/ check-ups.. All of them have been great but one was a little ruff for my liking. Luckily she is no longer there. They don't give you grief, which is rare. They just tell you what you are doing right, and make a few suggestions to change certain behaviours! Which is a big thing for me, I have been told time and time again that I brush to hard and don't floss as much as I should. Most dentists I have found to ruff, painful, and always ready to tell you what you are doing wrong! That's why I keep coming back to these guys! The front desk staff are friendly and fast to greet. But whenever you have an appointment it never really starts at the given time. Which is a bit of a pet-peeve of mine since I am always early or on time. So expect to sit and wait for about 10-15 minutes before being brought in. Dr. D, once of the main Dentists there. He is awesome, friendly, and REAL! I had my Wisdom teeth taken out by him a year ago, and give him 2 thumbs! Even though it was a bit of a fight to get them out! read more

Was searching for a dental clinic for a while after not having insurance and disliking my previous dentists I decided to try Metroplex out as a regular dentist after previously having removed my wisdom teeth there since they had the option to put you to sleep. The staff is pretty nice however I do find they seem to purposely scare you into more procedures. I had scheduled a cleaning xray and consultation and was charged almost $500 which is way more expensive than I would have thought. During the consultation the dentist was quickly poking my teeth and stated I had multiple cavities and she wanted to split up the fillings to 3 separate appointments and I was shocked at how expensive one appointment was. They estimated approximately $850 for top and bottom filling on one side ONLY. During the cleaning itself the hygenist only spent 30 minutes with me and had told me to come back since she wouldnt be able to finish. When I was done and went to the receptionist she had asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment to do my fillings literally the next day to fill an empty spot and I had told her I was uncomfortable because of my fear of dentist and this would be the first time in 6 years I would be getting fillings again but she decided it was her job to scare me into booking the appointment by saying if I waited I would damage my teeth and basically LECTURED me for a good five minutes about how I would lose my teeth LOL which I felt she was extremely out of place. Surely giving me an extra week to think about it wouldnt cause me to lose my teeth. On top of that. I was uncomfortable with the price so I went to get a second opinion at a different clinic whose dentist charged significantly less for a consultation and spent MORE TIME with me and actually carefully checked every spot on the xray and had told me that I had LESS cavities than the metroplex dentist had said. They gave me an estimate of $920 for EVERY filling I had to get done. So $850 for two fillings vs $920 for all 4. Plus I was under the impression that since I was returning to finish my cleaning that it was covered in the first charge of $500. Had they told me they would be charging me again I would not have gone back for the second appointment to finish the cleaning. Plus that hour they supposedly spent with me cleaning my teeth there was several times where the hygenist left me alone in the chair to do something else. I would avoid metroplex as there are better options out there. Ended up closing my account and swapping to a better dentist. read more

Pros: Great Staff, Location, and Hours Everyone from the Drs to the Hygenists, assistants and reception staff were really friendly and helpful. I love how accommodating their hours are and the convenience of being able to pick up any thing I need from the Mall or the Superstore at the same time which really helps me save time with my busy schedule. read more

Highly recommended! I was recently visiting beautiful Vancouver and Burnaby when I developed tooth problems quite suddenly. Not knowing anyone I went online and read favorable reviews for Metroplex Dental Centre. First thing Monday AM I called them and they had me in the office at 11AM! 2 hours later I had a bad wisdom tooth removed and the other tooth drilled and filled. Super professional service and very painless!(I have a low pain tolerance!) They explained everything and the charges I thought were reasonable.FYI my dentist there was Sakura Iwagami. Since I was traveling it was my dream to get everything fixed in 1 visit and they got it done! read more

I got a business card from this center a couple of months ago, when I started looking for a new Dentist. I had hoped that if it was good, I would refer them to a close friend. I called the office and asked for cost estimates, and they receptionist said that the a Dentist would get back to me, since they were unsure. They never did, and I wasn't about to chase after them, when I had a list of other offices I planned to call, when I needed a new Dentist as soon as possible. So yeah, I completely agree in the negative comments previously stated. It's rude to cancel appointments and try and offer re-scheduling. And blaming the client for this, in validating that it wrong of her to cancel last minute, is being a complete hypocrite. Her case was extremely time sensitive, and had to be on a flight out of the country that day. I think she was being polite and said yes, because she really hoped that she would have time to go, and did call you back in the end, which is more honorable then a company that fails to apologize for their wrong doing and then implies that they don't have common sense. She flight departure was on that day, which is why she made a specific time, so pretty un-realistic of you to offer to re-schedule on that same day in the first place... Signed, The ethical and dependable customer. read more

Stay away from this clinic. I am pulling out (pardon the pun) my records here today as I have been ripped off by their added treatments and x-rays, which are completely unnecessary based on my new dentist. The sign in front says "they are gentle" and cater to cowards but even their hygienist is brutal and rough. Am not sure if their other staff is OK though, but I will try my luck in a clinic which isn't located inside a mall-- with a high lease that they take out on your bill just to sustain. read more

Dr.Ajar has always been my dentist and he has always went above and beyond what a dentist will do for their patients. My daughter has been seeing him for over 15 years and more than 20 years at Metroplex. This location has always been very convenient and they always try to accommodate your schedule. Even during this pandemic, dr.Ajar provided my daughter his cell for all the dental emergency and was able to accommodate with Great dentist Dr.D to help my daughter Amy while he was away. Although their cost might not be the cheapest out their , it is definitely worth the cost for getting your professional dental treatment here ! read more

Firstly, the convenience of this dental facility is great. It's at the mall, there's good parking and transit is near... But that is all what is great about this place. I went to a dentist in metroplex dental, for a routine check and he stated I had multiple cavities and I had to book a a couple of appointments with him, so he could do work on my teeth. To be honest, I haven't had a cavity in years... I had no symptoms, pain or even visible spots on my teeth. This troubled me, so I went to another dentist and asked for their opinion. She said I had no cavities but weak spots ... And there was no need to fill them in. I never returned to that Dentist facility at the mall. If their only objective is to use me as a cash machine and not really care about my health, then I'm worried for those patients who are in their books and those who have already been taken advantage of. I will be going to the dental association of BC to speak to someone about this dentist. read more

Horrible service from front line staff. Appointments cancelled by reception in error - no explanation given and no attempt to rectify their error. Dentists come and go so often that it is almost impossible to see the same dentist twice in a year. Have now had enough of their production line mentality. If its professionalism you're looking for, Metroplex is NOT the place for you. read more

Convenient and... that's about it. Would not recommend. I started going here because it's at Metrotown and they're open late on weekdays. That part is great, but the hygienists are usually rushed and you get almost zero face time with the dentists. They really push nightguards so I had one made - when I had problems with it their response was basically "Oh, that's weird". No offer to replace it, no interest in finding a solution. I later found out that nightguards which address my specific problem exist, but the staff at Metroplex didn't even seem aware of them. read more

One good thing is the hours open 7 days a week other than that its a nightmare. They dont let you know if you still cover by your insurance so I end up paying so many times even though me and my wife have coordination of insurance. My one appointment I paid part of it then the worse after a year calling me that the other insurance did not cover a portion of the bill (why is it after a year) I have no words. They just do what ever to claim from insurance and to make you pay. read more

Warning to potential clients! I visited Dr. Payam Deljoui for 2 routine fillings, not knowing that it was possible that I could leave in a stretcher. The doctor gave me anesthesia for 2 molars. Performed 1st filling with no problems. The 2nd filling I could feel, so I was given more anesthesia, and his exact words as soon as he did was "That's more than enough". This is when the problem started. I could not breathe properly for 2 hours, and thought I was going to die!!! The ambulance was called and I left for the hospital. It wasn't until the freezing wore off that I had my normal breathing back. I was told that it caused the constrictor muscle in the throat to close my airway. They took absolutely no responsibility and didn't even cover the $80 cost for the ambulance. read more

Stay away from this place or at least get a second opinion before you decide to use their service. I had some xray and cleaning today and the bill was $566. That really shocked me! They also advised me to have 6 fillings which doubted because I did not feel any pain or or problems at all. They also wanted to have 2 wisdom teeth extractions which raised a red flag because two of them both have been fine with me for more than 5 years. I asked them about the estimation for the 4 fillings and they said the total cost would be around $2000ish. I have 2 insurances and even two of them together will not be able to cover the cost. I did a mistake that I did not ask them about the cost for the cleaning. I definitely will seek a second opinion. read more

I should have not giving them any stars!!!!! This is for the lady at the front desk. I usually come to this dental clinic with my dad and sisters and it was GREAT! until today. I scheduled a teeth filling today at 10:10am because i need to leave also going back to California but they call me and said the dentist had an emergency and they need move my appointment at 12:30pm so i said yes. But i am hesitating because i have alot of stuff to do before i leave and i am EXPECTING TO COME AT 10:10AM for my appointment. But when i call them and talk to a lady at front she was mad told me its not acceptable that im not coming anymore. I was sooo mad! Because i feel like its my fault why i did not come. Heres the thing. I AM EXPECTING TO COME AT 10:10AM AND YOU'RE MOVED MY APPOINTMENT AT 12PM BECAUSE THERES AN EMERGENCY, WELL HONEY I HAVE OTHER STUFF TO DO TOO BEFORE I LEAVE!!!!! She is sooo unprofessional, she is talking WHILE im talking which i hate!!!! Never gonna come back again. Disappointed so bad!!! read more

dentist work is okay, after freezing and start of procedure gives you no choice but to opt in for a laser surgery that will cost much extra. Also, insist on what he thinks you should do and does not listen to your opinion. read more

My dentist left and was given to a new practitioner there. They over-billed me/my insurer for the replacement crown leaving a credit on file they cannot account for. Then once installed they took a new x-ray as I was still in pain and thought it could be the tooth next to it. i mentioned this tooth pain before they broke my old crown, and the dentist still couldn't recall. The technicians and new dentist weren't listening to me so I got a second opinion at a different office. They viewed the x-rays and showed a GAP in my new replacement crown install, prone to infection! I contacted them about remuneration as I have to get it fixed. The dentist called me back immediately and advised she reviewed my x-ray and asked me to come back in to fix the gap; no word on refunding the work. Sorry, but I wasn't going to trust the same practitioner who couldn't fix it after the x-ray. A week later this crown FELL OUT. As it fell out, my new office cemented it back on and I was told it would need a full replacement in 1-2 years. It was made too short and with a lot of gap between tooth stub and the crown made (ill-fitting to say the least). I was told to contact Metroplex for a refund as the replacement would be 100% out-of-pocket as work would have to be done under the 5 years. I asked in writing for Metroplex for ONLY my insurer portion back to my insurer (still $500) out of pocket and they refused to talk with me, only wanting to hear from my current provider. Metroplex is now saying they sent over old x-rays and the gap wasn't there and want me to pay for new x-rays to show the crown. Given that my new provider has fixed their crown and filled the gap with cement the x-rays will look like it's fine. I checked with the College of Dentists and unless I file a legal suite against them (which would cost more than the required refund) they do not have to refund me. Watch their billing and quality of work! read more

Love this place. I had an incredibly painful infection in one of my roots. I called and they booked me in same-day. Everyone was super nice and helpful that I dealt with there. Dr. Ajar gave me all of my options and did his best to numb the pain. I was hoping I could tough it out and left to go home but the pain was too much. I went back to them about a half hour after I left my appointment and they took me in right away and extracted the tooth. It was a really positive experience for me. They were all very understanding, kind, and relatable. I definitely recommend. :) read more

Simply Avoid this place! You will end up doing unnecessary treatments and overbilled.

First I want to start by saying their agreement is something to be aware of. Please note that the dentists there will create work orders for teeth without your verbal consent. Once you sign they will do what ever they please when you are there and charge accordingly for it. I and my father went for work to be done for one tooth for the each of us. During the process for my father, the dentist ( i dont remember her name she has wavy hair and is in her mid 30s) did work for the one tooth (top jaw) then proceeded to do another one afterward without asking my father. She then did the billing for it... We paid but were not happy about it. Later in the day my dad noticed pain on his bottom jaw... he went back to ask about the pain and she said she did work on another two teeth on the bottom without the knowledge of my father... in the process she damaged a tooth next to it and now my father is dealing with his life in more struggle than before.. Also for me I asked for the doing of one crown. She then went to instruct the front desk to charge for two without telling me first.... Again I want you to keep in mind there is a "bad mechanic" type feel going on here.... Doing work without verbal consent and finding damage after their work.... read more
