We brought in our 5 year-old son for a consultation to fix his 8 cavities (yes, we're not good…read morebrushers/flossers) after his general dentist said that he's not experienced enough with young kids. We brought in X-rays, and Dr. Chander maybe spent a minute with us telling what he would do - fix all either with laughing gas or send us to another specialist to fix all at one time under general anesthetic and then he left. We then spent the next 10 minutes talking to the manager about payment options. When I questioned why we couldn't ask for a treatment plan without laughing gas or general anesthetic, the answer I got was, "well, the doctor probably thought he's uncooperative". Since we were uncomfortable with the treatment plan offered, we consulted yet another dentist, and there, the dentist spent 10-15 minutes during the consultation meeting check each tooth over and also testing our son's patience in the chair, needless to say, we went to this dentist to fix his teeth. I have no problems with dental practices needing to make money (especially if they have a fancy waiting room and staff that don't hate you when you walk in). I can also rationalize exceptionally good dentists charging above what is recommended by the provincial dental pay scale (they also will demand the difference between what your insurance pays and what they charge even for a consultation), but what I have a problem with is when a PEDIATRIC dental practice has no desire to determine a child's comfort level in the chair BEFORE recommending a treatment plan. Our son has seen quite a few doctors and specialists and has had a few exams with various machines, and the conclusion after all these exams is how calm he is - in fact, where he got his teeth fixed, he was even used as the example by the parent of a screaming child of how to behave at a dentist's office. Boy, this has turned into a very long review, but we saw the positive reviews from other patients and thought we might be able to get the same - a meaningful consultation with a pediatric dental specialist that would know how to deal with children without having to resort to rendering them dazed and confused. We didn't get that, and in fact, the only thing we did get was a bad taste in our mouths.

Having to so frequently dig buried stuff out with a toothpick or dental brush often kept the area inflamed and swollen for days at a time, which would lead to more impaction, which led to more inflammation, etc. Over time my teeth shifted, and I began having the same problem on the OTHER side of the offending molar, too. It was making me crazy, to the point I'd wake up in the middle of the night and have to floss again, even though I'd done so before going to bed. When I asked if a solution was possible, Dr. Goran added some matrix to both sides of the molar's surface, and my 30 year long dental problem disappeared literally overnight. The procedure was painless and took less than an hour. Two years later, the matrix is still in place, and my former problem remains resolved. Office service here is always efficient and friendly, too. I'd recommend even for dental scaredy-cats.

The warm family atmosphere makes our visits to the dentist pleasant and fun, not scary as dentists usually are. Five plus stars from us!

They didn't point that out immediately (the shape of the breakage was too round and smooth to be a regular crack. Instead they additionally recommended TEN (10) cavity fillings based on browsing my x-rays. No discomfort anywhere in my teeth except the filling that fell out. They didn't even ask about that. No idea what the timeline is on each cavity before it actually becomes a problem. They basically talk about "eventually" which is just plausible deniability and non-specific instead of triage -- which ones are at what stage, how soon before it becomes a problem. Possibly because I qualified for government dental and they could milk me for as much work as possible. Sorry but I don't want 10 unnecessary fillings that will end up falling out and becoming 10 root canals.

Today, a decade later, the folks here are still my dentists. 6 months ago I had my wisdom teeth removed (in full knowing this time!) by Dr. Ajar, who was friendly, not judgemental, and answered all my questions fairly about the process. I was worried about getting dry sockets and he reassured me and explained why that was an extremely low risk for me, and I appreciated how logically he explained it, instead of brushing it off. 6 weeks ago I signed up to get invisaligns by Dr. Belinda Weltman, orthodontist. She too very patiently explained the process and helped me make the decision between Invisaligns and traditional braces. This time I was worried about lisping, and she told me I might for a few days after I first put them on, because of the foreign object in my mouth, but with a bit of practice I'd be speaking normally. She also made an effort to get to know me and why speaking was so important to me (career in communication), and it made a difference in the way we interact. My other experiences with checkups and cleaning are kind of average, a bit painful, but nothing outside the scope of what one should expect at the dentist. The receptionists are always friendly and helpful, and I'm always surprised to find that they remember my name. The whole experience at Metroplex dental just feels like everyone communicates with everyone else and is on top of things. And if there is ever a question, they're pretty proactive in letting you know and clarifying things. And that is quite possibly the most reassuring thing of all.

The clinic itself is very nice, with pleasant staff, and Dr. Shirbani was helpful and gracious, providing a referral to a specialist if needed. However, my experience was marred by a subsequent interaction with a receptionist on Saturday, July 12th, at 9:05 am, who was difficult, unfriendly, unempathetic, and rude. I had concerns regarding my wisdom tooth and was seeking a brief consultation with the doctor, but the receptionist was unaccommodating, suggesting I book an appointment instead. Upon calling back to ask a question, I was informed that the doctor recommended I visit a specialist, which was not relevant to my concern about my wisdom tooth. I was extremely disappointed by the receptionist's behavior, which was a stark contrast to the helpful and compassionate service I received the previous day. As a paying patient, I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, my experience was subpar, and I would not recommend this dental clinic to anyone in Canada. I have traveled extensively and lived in various places, and this was the most disappointing experience I've had. I called back to address the unprofessional behavior, but my call was not returned. I hope the clinic will take steps to address the discriminatory behavior and provide better service to their patients
