This station has kiosks for tickets but no one to answer questions or assist you. It has 2 main tracks running (Track 1 & 2). It will show on a light up board where they are bound for the final destination. There is an app to use for their schedule too that is easy to navigate. The ride was very smooth and comfortable. They announce each stop in preparation ahead of time so you can prepare your exit. Easy parking that is right next to the station too. read more

Today was my first time taking a train anywhere and surprisingly the train was very smooth and comfortable. The seats were a decent size seat. There was a good amount of legroom, depending on how you sat and where the chairs were situated. The train for every stop was on time going there and coming back. Highly recommend. read more

One of the destination Metrolink stations in the O.C. and whether you're departing from or arriving here, it's a nice little station that will connect you to all of their main trains that can take you to South O.C., L.A., Ventura, and Riverside Counties. There's a Ruby's Diner right by the main platform that's also very cool to check out. You can watch the trains go by as you dine inside. This station is also close to the Hilbert Museum and downtown Orange, with lots of shopping places. There is a public restroom near the upper level stairways that's pretty clean. It is an outdoor restroom, so you may feel some wind blowing in when you walk in. As like many train stations, there are going to be some transients or random people at the stations. Some lay on the grass or they'll park their stuff at the street side. But this station is normally busy throughout the day so it's a pretty safe station. But Orange Metrolink Station is easy to access and save some time from driving by taking the train! read more

What do I like about the Orange Metrolink stop? The location, right in downtown, so it makes it easy for a day trip from LA! You don't need a car while you're in downtown Orange, just walk around, so that's a major plus. The station is small- just 2 tracks, easy to get around and figure out fast. They do have lists to keep you informed. The building is small, the restrooms are kinda dirty, my husband wasn't thrilled with the experience and I didn't feel like going in, just looking from outside- they look like old restrooms, run down and dirty. There's a Ruby's Diner right there, with an outdoor area right in front of the waiting area. So in case you need food fast... Otherwise, go to downtown, there are much better food options there! There's no one on the site to help you. There are no announcements for trains coming, so you better do your homework. The Metrolink stops here for about a minute, you blink and you miss it, so make sure you get here on time. There's a decent size parking lot, otherwise, no frills kinda station. Once again, being located in downtown is great, right near the Hilbert Art Museum. Very convenient. read more

Yelp Challenge 2015 194/365 Took a school bus with 30 5 year olds down here for a trip to San Juan Capistrano on the Metro Link. We purchased our tickets online. There was a deal for free tickets with each adult ticket purchased. So some of the kids were free. Early in the morning arrived and parked the bus in the designated zone. We boarded the train and walked up the stairs to upper level of the train and pretty much had it to ourselves. Seats were comfy. Tables allowed us toenjoy our bagels, apples and chocolate milk boxes as we traveled to South Orange County. Got to pay attention where and when to get off. This was a nice place to catch a train at. the parking is good and close to where you get on the train. The station is fairly clean and seems to be well taken care of. The ticket counter is small but seemed to move quick. The price was not to bad to go to San Diego, $23.00 or $46 round trip. Easy on here. Plus you get a better chance at a seat than going to the Anaheim station which is a new facility. When we got there almost every seat was taken. Passengers that wanted to sit together had to sit apart. That is why this station is much better. The train schedule are posted and the trains were on time and the trip was great!! read more

It used to be good station. I live in riverside and commute to orange by Metrolink, so I parked my own vehicle at orange station over night to go back and forth between station and office. But since part of the surface parking is taken back by Chapman university, I no longer can find a parking spot, and the new garage parking does not allow over night parking. I can't ride Metrolink any more since I cannot park near Metrolink orange station any more. read more

Served by Metrolink Orange and Inland Empire-OC Lines, as well as Amtrak. This is one of the better Metrolink stations in the entire system, in my opinion. It's off Chapman and just a few blocks off the Orange Circle, There's a quaint old-school station building there, but the Cask n' Cleaver restaurant that was there has gone out of business. There's quite a few parking spaces, both long and short term, and I feel safe in leaving my vehicle here for at least a few days. read more

Not a bad place to pick up the train. Or to get off. Step off here and head up a couple of blocks to the fun area of the Orange Circle. Awesome shops and eateries. Clean. Area to sit and wait. Today it was so hot. Crazy for November right? So we were loving the shady spots. Parking is totally fine. Plenty of it. Although a sign says that a Ruby's Diner will be put in the Historic Building. My first thought was, Where is everyone going to park? so that would be a huge question in the future. Although I'm looking at a past review from Diana W. back in August of '09 and she too mentioned there would be an up and coming Ruby's. Pretty nice station servicing both Metrolink OC and IEOC lines, easy parking with the addition of the new parking garage just a block from the station just note that you can't park overnight in it and it closes around midnight. The station is also a good spot to train spot as there's a Ruby's diner on the side of the LA bound platform. read more

The station is pretty cool. I lived in the neighborhood when the restaurant was Cask & Cleaver. Even though I lived right across the street, I rarely went. There are a couple ticket kiosks and some benches to wait for the train. The only thing that is lacking is a bit more shade. This review is actually more about the Metrolink service than the actual train station. My son and I rode the train on Sunday down to San Juan Capistrano. I paid $8 for my ticket, which is not much of a bargain. However, my son, who is five, rode for free. I did not know it but each adult can take up to three kids five and under for free. Now that is a bargain since train rides are good fun for kids. The train was clean, quiet, smooth, and pretty much on time. No hassles. Just the way I like it. read more

Parking is easy to find and use, it can get full pretty quick though if you're looking to park near the front of the station. There's always more parking towards the back, so it's not much of an issue if you're willing to walk. You could use this station for bus transportation or the Metrolink train transportation. I usually go from Orange to LA Union Station and back, costs $68/week. Not a very bad price at all. There's not much to say about this station, other than it needs more benches and seating areas. One of the cleaner stations. it's also a transfer station, where you get off one train, to get on another to go on a different route. This station doesn't have much seating, So you'll always be standing, which isn't a big deal. This station also has restrooms, but I've never bothered to use them. Took the Metrolink from Orange to Riverside this afternoon and I was pleasantly surprised. The Orange Station is nicely tucked right next to the downtown area of Orange where all the shops, bars and restaurants. I arrived about 15 minutes before the Metrolink pulled in. If I had arrived a bit earlier, I would have gotten a milkshake from Ruby's, which is in the same little parking lot. And to think, I was going to the Fullerton station instead, which is much farther away. read more

4.0 Stars -- My family took advantage of the $10 weekend pass this past Sunday morning on our daytrip to the San Clemente Pier Seafest & Chowder Cook-off. We boarded at the Orange station, our first Metrolink train ride, and was pleasantly surprised by the ease of not having to drive to the quaint seaside town of San Clemente. My reason for not giving this station 5 Stars? The fact that there is only 1 ticket machine, located on the opposite side of the large parking lot (also where we were boarding to travel south) so we had to walk around the tracks in order to purchase tickets and return to the minimal seating areas that had little to no shade. read more

cute, little train station. it's safe and doesn't get very crowded. it's nestled in old town orange, which is an adorable hipster hangout. but just a few complaints that warrant the 3-star rating: -need more benches to sit on while you wait -need better bathrooms (only 1 stall for women) -need a place to buy food or coffee in the morning -could use a bigger parking lot other than that, i would still choose to take the train from here over the other options like fullerton where it's super crowded and sketch. read more

Okay so first off what do you write in a review of a train station? Lol. Well I have been riding into this station for a long time. I remember their use to be a time when the amtrak would even stop at this location but eventually turned into strictly a metrolink station as their wasn't much traffic onto the Amtrak from here. Over the years this train station has had a few facelifts. I really enjoy the ambience when u step off the train you immediately feel like your in old town Orange (at least it does to me) I've always found this location to be very confident cause it's easy to be picked up from since it's located by many freeways. It's always been kept very clean no graffiti and nothing like that and over the years they put a fountain in and a nice little seating area now were you see people with their dogs nowadays. Like a miniature park. But alas there are a few downsides to this station. :/ First being that parking wise their isn't much room for people to even sit and wait for you because theirs so little of parking that most people who park and ride take up the majority of the parking. Parking has become a big issue because it is only on one side of the station and as price of fuel goes up more and more people are commuting by train. The other side of the train station has a Ruby's Diner so that side is dedicated to parking just for guests. Second problem, I that their is only one ticket machine and not only that it is on the side opposite the parking. It is the side that most commuters tend to use as it's the northbound side into LA but still should at least be another one on the opposite side of the tracks too. Besides that and the fact Metrolink needs to add more trains coming in and out of this station (and all others in my opinion) it's great! read more

Fun trip for our first time using metrolink. Train came a few minutes late but that's expected. Clean and safe way to travel from one city to the next. It was like an adventure and the funny part our train number coming back to Irvine was 666. Some of us were laughing at the conductor when he mentioned the number. This train station is not much of a station. There are only two benches for train-riders to use, and they are always taken by other riders or homeless individuals. Free but limited parking is offered on one side of the tracks, so if you are traveling north you will have to cross over the tracks to reach the right side from the parking lot. There is a Ruby's Diner in the vicinity but it does not open until 8AM, long past the time that most commuters are around, needing coffee and bagels. If you want a historic or comfortable riding experience, go to Fullerton, Anaheim, or Santa Ana. read more

I take the Metrolink every day to and from work. One of my stops is the Orange Station. I like the Orange Station in its simplicity and cleanliness on the grounds. It is a small station, so getting to either side is not difficult. The parking lot is not very big and gets full relatively quickly, which makes it difficult to make it on time when I'm running late and can't find an open parking spot. The cleanliness of the bathrooms are always sub par. My overall experience is not that negative, but I feel as though many improvements could be made. read more

SoCal Metrolink has its great and awful points. It's awesome that 90% of the time, it's on time. The bad side is, it only runs a few times a day since it is solely a commuter train. They have more trains that cater to people commuting from OC to Downtown LA. Even though where I work, Irvine, is the 2nd most busiest Metrolink station in SoCal, there's only one train that will get you to work on time (9am) and there's only ONE train going back but you have to make it before 6pm (when most people get out of work @530) or you'd have to wait til 9pm. Yup, I said 9pm. Take your pick. Got out of work early and so i thought I'd take the train early too. Long story short, I ended up at the Orange station waiting for my regular train because the early train I took goes to Riverside and Orange was the last stop, and does not pass Anaheim. So there I was waiting for my regular train for about 30 mins. Scheduling of Metrolink is awful. I guess you can pass time by eating at Ruby's diner located right on the platform while you wait. It's not the cheapest alternative but it helps pass time. read more

It's cool that there will be a Ruby's here soon because the building is all closed up and abandoned, very sad looking. Also the Orange Circle is within walking distance. But the bathrooms were horrid, I had to go but made myself wait because it was just too gross and had no hooks to hang your stuff on. Who designs a women's bathroom without anything to accommodate purses?! Also, there is nowhere to wait INDOORS unless you just want to hang out in the gross single-stall bathroom. At least there are covered benches but it was very shitty waiting for the train early in the morning after a night of rain. Avoid having to wait at this station! read more

This station has been the source of so much fun for my family and I. We started riding the Metrolink a few years ago. At that time it was only $10.00 for a weekend pass. Now its $10.00 a day on weekends. Quite the bargain as the normal round trip would be about twice as much. We have gone to Oceanside Beach (Sometimes we bring along the Beach Cruisers), San Clemente pier (You are steps from shopping and the beach), San Juan Capistano (Dining and the Mission), Union Station - Los Angeles (China Town and Olvera Street). The Orange Metrolink Parking fills up fast. If you are having trouble finding a spot, try the public parking lot on the corner of Chapman and Lemon (by Wahoo's Fish Taco). Its only two streets over East of Ruby's and a easy walk. Also the Orange Circle is also walking distance. There you can shop, hunt for antiques, have something to eat or just relax under the tree's by the circles waterfall. Here's to many more fun adventures. read more

This is an unmanned train station so come a bit early in order to buy your tickets and maneuver to whichever side of the tracks you need to be on for your departure. I chose to visit a friend who had moved to Oceanside and bring my small dog along in a soft carrier. Early in the morning on the day of my trip I bought my round trip ticket via my cell phone after downloading their application. Arriving at the depot, we were pleased to find plentiful close parking. Easy access to other side is via lots of stairs or LONG ramps that go to a tunnel under the tracks. Signage was plentiful and I saw machines available to purchase tickets. It was easy to ascertain which track we needed to depart from. Plenty of seating, but was in the sun. Train ride was quiet and smooth and we never saw a conductor until we were on our return trip. No complaints on cleanliness of facility. Also, did not notice any "undesirables" lingering about and never felt our safety was compromised. read more
