This is one of the bigger grocery stores that I have seen in Toronto, Canada. It has all your major things that you need on the daily. Prices weren't too too bad. It reminded me somewhat of Tops here in there. There is a Tim Hortons inside this store, but I would not recommend going there because the employee that took care of my boys was just rude, a little stupid, and didn't know very much. She didn't even know if there was a restroom in the whole big store. How can someone not know if there's a restroom in a grocery store that they work in? But she treated my boys like crap and I don't like that But the next day when I went in, there was a different employee working and she was a lot nicer I didn't really look around this store, I just really went there for pop which I got in the prices were decent, but they don't not have a large selection of pop like they do here in the good old US of A !! Especially diet pop or zero sugar pop they only have like three flavors in the Pepsi brand anyway. The store was pretty clean and there was a restroom just so you know which was OK nothing great & it's for one person only.. In a store filled with so many customers they should definitely have a bigger restroom more than one and definitely have stalls in it for more than one person. Lovely store with good variety, well maintained and easy check out area. Suggest however they just close down the hot deli counter as the lack of service every time I approach that counter, in particular on a Saturday whether busy or not is beyond the norm. More than once have walked up, see two staff working and as soon as they see a customer standing there waiting both walk away. This is not the norm at the Eglinton Square deli counter where I will give my business to in future. Considering the prices behind both the cold and hot deli counters and the number of staff working behind there this treatment of customers is undeserved. read more

This checkout procedure at this location is woefully inadequate, and when I advised the one cashier at checkout I wanted to speak with the store manager about it, she replied no one would be available, and maybe it would be better to advise head office. This was late morning on a Tuesday. She is an experienced cashier and was doing her very best, but people of course were very frustrated and cranky. There was one checkout desk with a cashier, and the lineup was 15 carts deep (more than half of them seniors), stretching more than halfway down a product aisle. I was in line for 18 minutes. Even the self-serve checkout was packed, with a lineup of 7 carts outside the checkout stations. The existing staff at the front (one at full checkout, one at self-serve checkout) looked quite haggard and exhausted. The store management doesn't seem to care. The butchers at this location are terrible! Boneless stew beef $3.99/lb value packs, went in this morning to grab some. Waited 15 minutes in the meat section, packages come out, but meat is horribly cut with no care. Large chunks of fat on each piece of little stew beef. A couple would be fine, but every single one with a hunk of fat stuck to it. Not in the mood to spend 30 mins to an hour trimming this stuff off. Waste of time, throwing money in the garbage. Metro is a high end grocery store, prices are already high so I expect much better. There's more product selection in this Metro and the store is open 24 hrs so that's one plus, but this is enough to make me walk out and visit other locations till they improve. Went to the Eglinton Square location and picked up some nicely cut beef from here. Butcher bringing out the goods even gave me a smile. Head on there! read more

The whole world is trying to contain the spread of this virus and the shoppers were only doing their part as a decent human being, protecting themselves and others around them. I work for a relocation company that provides relocation and settling services to companies that are bringing in new employees (essential workers) from other countries and do all my grocery shopping for their 14 day isolation period here at this store. I've always found what I needed and their produce is fresh and they also have a large selection of organic food which is great! Today I had to do a shop for a client and then was on my way to deliver it when I got a call to say the client had trouble boarding a flight and was advised to return what I could. I went back to the store and was told I could return everything when I explained the unusual circumstances. The two persons who helped return the items for me (it was a very large shop) were Bilal and Cameron and they were extremely helpful and gracious. I was really impressed and very thankful for their attitude. I will continue to shop there and also spread the word how great they are. read more

Do NOT buy meat here!! Take note of the other review that says this as well I purchased ground beef from the meat department. Upon inspection of the meat at the store, it was bright red and looked fresh. When I brought the meat home and broke into it, the inside was a dingy light brown color which actually indicates this meat is no longer fresh. It turns out this meat is actually not fresh, but has infact been dipped in blood again in order to make it look fresh. I know exactly how this process works in grocery stores and this was for sure done to the meat i bought. Funny so many comments coming from US people This store is located in Canada I am thinking fake reviews??

I dont usually ever comment or review or complain about places at all but this is a customer and employee safety experience that I feel needs attention. I understand that the Saturday afternoon right before a holiday is very busy but it is not an excuse to go against government and public safety protocols. The cashier employee ( older Asian lady) that checked out my groceries is very dangerous and flouting public safety rules. First of all, her mask was below her nose, and she went through at least 2 customers before she pulled it back up. As I waited in line, I observed her rushing customers to place their items on the belt, discouraging against social distancing to rush them to get her line cleared. On top of that, she did not even wipe clean the belt between each customer because she was so fixated on getting everyone out. Even worse was her attitude when I brought it up. I was very patient, I did not rush this employee to do anything or check me out faster. Before the customer in front of me had even paid for their belongings, she was already asking me to place my things on the belt and encouraging me to come closer to the person as they were paying on the pin pad. I stayed where I was to give the other customer their social distance as well as privacy as they used the pin pad. This employee then got upset and asked me again to place the items on the belt, I asked if she would wipe clean the belt first and she ignored me. Then I asked again and she said "no I don't have to, that's just how we do it here." I have been to quite a few grocery stores during this 2 year pandemic, Metro happens to be my favourite one especially the one at Kennedy commons but I was in the area today so decided to come here. This was my first ever experience in ANY grocery store where the cashier simply did not care to even ask customers to social distance or take the time to clean the conveyor belt. So to make things easier, because I can tell she is very stressed, I just place my items on the cart and let her cash me out. I was on the phone with my husband during this encounter and mentioned to him that the cashier did not wipe the belt and wasn't following social distancing guidelines (not loudly, I was having a private conversation) and she overheard and stated "if you don't like it, go somewhere else and complain. that's just how we do it here." I said I would complain and I just paid for my things, I said thank you, have a nice day and stay safe and started to exit. No reply from her. But when I realized I had forgotten my umbrella in the basket I was using and came back to get it at her cash register, the same employee was already laughing and complaining about me to the customer that had been behind me "that stupid girl, who does she think she is". I definitely would have let everything else go and just not return to this particular metro due to the experience, but that comment was what has pushed me to write a complaint today. Not only was this employee unsafe with her own health and the customers' health and well being, she also has a disgusting attitude and is a terrible representative of the metro brand. Sad to say this made me want to just get a refund and go back at Valumart instead. I actually went to valumart earlier in the day and couldn't find what I needed so came to this metro. they might not have as much inventory but atleast they are friendly and follow safety guidelines even during busy time read more

Before I begin, for the other users complaining about the meat, save the planet and go vegetarian lol (kidding but not really). Anyways, this is my favourite Metro location. Always clean, produce looks fresh, variety of foods to choose from, and cashiers remember familiar faces. It's conveniently located on VP and Danforth in the Shoppers World plaza. I noticed they do have less coconut water options than other locations though so that's my only personal critique. Other than that, this is my go to location. read more

Best pizza in the city. $12.99 for one or two large for $19.99 with three toppings on each. Our family loves the thin crust and amount of toppings they put on. Much better then all the franchise shops, but I'm sure there better authentic shops. read more

The best part in my opinion is the bulk meat bins and the frequent sales on a variety of items we need like coffee, cheese, snacks, paper towel etc. I've saved a lot of $ here by checking the pricetags (which have a price/weight though its usually in small print). Other nearby Metros sometimes have the same pricepoints but from experience i believe the stores get to choose what to mark up or down, and the danforth store focuses more on the meat deals and other good sales. Rainbow trout always at 1.30/100g. 10$ pizza and $12 rotisserie. Produce is fresh n good, but generally not that cheap. But freshco produce is often not great and nofrills is usually poor quality. Loblaws is great but expensive. Once i spent $200 at this store but it would have been $300 if not for the sales. Floor staff are easier to find than many other stores and generally very helpful. Checkout can be slow at peak times. Panhandlrs and smokers at the doors, but ive never had any problem. BULK MEAT deals!! read more

A decent 24hr store, but check out it absolutely ridiculous. I get trying to save on staffing costs, but i dont think I have ever waited less than 20mins in line...at 3am or 6pm it matters not. Nice bakery, and sometimes a nice change from Loblaws around the corner, but as soon as you get to cash out, all the good things slip away. When I do convince myself to wait in line instead of walking away from my cart, I finally get to the cashier, and they think its funny that I was in line so long that the ice cream is now soft serve. Might consider it if it was a discount NoFrills/FreshCo style store, but the prices are more than Loblaws and Sobeys. No thanks. Boooooo. read more

Stepping into Metro for the first time, I noticed that is was very large and spacious. Large amounts of fruit and vegetables as soon as you enter the door. I was surprised to find that there was a flower shop as well. The florist even wrapped my flowers nicely because I told her it was a gift. It was so crowded on a Saturday afternoon. I love that they collect food for charity. The best part of shopping here is the food...the best potato wedges which are nicely seasoned with herbs and salt. This is good as far as Metros go. The prices are too high but the giant size of the store leads to great selection. It's open 24 hours which is great in theory but I try to avoid the neighbourhood in the dark. I've also had good experience with the cashiers here. They are speedy and don't squish my purchases, big step up over some of the places I frequent. read more

This metro is large & in charge. They have so much stuff in here. I've only ever been in a few random times over the years. Just picking up things I forgot or something. I've always had an ok time. This Metro is responsible for causing food poisoning after my child consumed some of their Deli meats. When I phoned to advise them that their meat was spoiled to avoid others getting ill, the store manager John refused to apologize, was very rude and refused to remove the spoiled meat from their rotation. Calling Metro Customer service resulted in denial and I received additional abuse / rudeness. She actually told me that I shouldn't have let my child eat the meat since the package's best before was the next day. I will take my weekly shop elsewhere as should others. Metro Foods recently took over the Dominion that's been sitting in this location forever. While at first I enjoyed the aesthetic changes employed by Metro, I'm not happy with the increases in cost and decline in food product. I've purchased several items from Metro recently that were not "dominion quality'. I'm also displeased with the staff in the meat/deli section. I really do not like this location. The staff are rude and flippant (they love to talk back to the customers and have the last word...period). Good luck trying to buy something at the deli counter take a book or your phone to play games while you wait for service. The prices are high. I unfortunately use this store only in emerg... I kringe everytime I enter the store (not very often) I prefer to go to Loblaws a block away or No Frills. read more

It's a normal grocery store. Not that expensive. Good selection. Not much different than others. Bad area at night though. And although it is supposed to be open 24 hours, twice I've went there and it was closed! Doors locked and baskets stacked up in front of doors. I don't understand. Is there another entrance or something? I went there at 1:15 am on a Saturday (technically Sunday) and there were a few people in there checking out (what i could see) but the doors were locked. I've also gone there before way earlier, probably around 10:00 and they were closed. I wouldn't suggest going here at night anyway, especially if you're walking and especially if you're female. There's creeps late at night around that intersection. read more
