The store has a large selection of swimsuits, goggles, and related attire and accessories. I can't speak to their custom orders, I'm not a competitive swimmer, just an average person who needed footwear for an upcoming tropical vacation. I buy lots of stuff online, but when it comes to clothing and shoes, I prefer to try it on first. This store is close to my home, so it was easy to go in person and find something that fit properly. I found a pair of Speedo water shoes that are exactly what I was looking for. Pricing was the same as Amazon and on the Speedo web store. I wrote this to counter all their horrible reviews because I want to support local brick-and-mortar businesses that provide jobs in my community. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I called on Friday (2 days ago) and reached a customer service rep. I asked about a specific suit and the sizes they had and he said they had plenty of inventory if I wanted to stop in the store. On Saturday, I called several times to ensure the store was open but got only voicemails. I wanted to make sure they were open and had it before going there because it's a 40-min drive for me. I trusted the store hours that said they were open on google. When my daughter and I got there, there was a sales girl on her phone. I asked her about the suit and she checked and then went upstairs. She came down and said the manager just arrived and said they don't have any in stock. I was surprised because of the information I received the day before and got a bit annoyed so I asked to speak with the manager. She went back upstairs but took some time and when she came back down, she dismissed me like she thought I had left. She then said the manager doesn't want to come down. What kind of customer service is that? Mind you, we've spent a lot of money at that store (my daughter has been swimming for 5 yrs) and when greeted by a male store manager previously, he was fine. I was livid and she didn't seem to care and just proceeded to open boxes of bathing suits to put away. I couldn't believe it but also not surprised based on the lousy reviews they have. Do not buy from this store, unless you are desperate and are close by! read more

Ordered a pink Arena Tech suit from them. Received a purple leopard skin tech suit of the same style, but was cheaper. When I said the blue one with a similar pattern to the one we ordered would be acceptable, but we needed it quickly, I was told to order a new one, and they would refund me when they received the other one back. I now have to go out of my way to fix their mistake?!?! It will be easy to buy elsewhere even if I have to pay a little more. read more

Don't do it!!!! Stay away!!!! Ordered a tech suit for my daughter, got order confirmation, then got an e-mail a few days later saying the order was cancelled because they don't have it. When I called, they said "oops, our inventory was wrong... sorry". Oops, you confirmed my order, your internal problems shouldn't be mine, do what is right for the customer! The rep offered me a 40% discount if I bought something else from them right away, but that is useless since they don't have the product I wanted. When another rep tried to offer me a similar tech suit in a different size, I realized they were inept. Anyone who deals in tech suits knows only one size fits a particular swimmer the right way. If they actually wanted to live up to their obligation to the customer, they could find the tech suit they promised me somewhere. It would just take a little effort. But they clearly don't think my business is worth the effort... and if they don't value customers then you don't want to do business with them. I will happily update this to a positive review if they change their mind about living up to their commitments, but it doesn't appear I'll have to do that. Very sad... especially for my daughter who thought she had gotten a great Christmas present... read more

Hello! Worst shop ever! They shipped me unfortunately something a kid could fit! Size and matters they don't on the wear you're buying is not acturate. I bet a shirt in size small in their apparel would be an extra small on me. They informed me they would send me a return label and they never did. I had to keep inboxing them and it's still been two weeks! All I want is my money back please don't buy from them unless you're very skinny because nothing in their store fits. Not even a 1 point rating I'd say -1 read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SHOP. They first sent the wrong tech suit color knowing that the one they listed on the web site was wrong. Then after I returned the suit (now they have it for 2 weeks now), they still did not issue a refund even after I called then a week ago. When I called a week ago, I asked them to call m back with a status when it is refunded. They did not call me. Now they say that their refund person is on vacation. They will not give me the number to the person who issues the refund and he is the manager. I will be filing a formal complain through my credit card company tomorrow if I don't get the refund issued tomorrow. New comments after Metro's e-mail to me just now: They now say that they cant refund my money as the credit card I bought the suit on is not associated with the order and they are asking me to give them another credit card so thy can refund on that one. Are you kidding me???!!?? My credit card company is telling me they are being deceptive. I am going to file with the better business bureau. read more

I should have listened to the other reviews but decided to give this place a chance. I ordered 2 suits & 1 pair of goggles. Metro Swim Shop sent me a package that had 2 random suits (not what I ordered) and 0 goggles. I have called & emailed, most of the time I get a busy signal. The one time I was able to get through and speak to someone, the person in customer service told me that the shipping dept would be able to provide a status update and that they'd email on my behalf. I am still waiting for a response. read more

I ordered a jammer for my grandson for a Christmas present. Metro Swim Shop mailed me the wrong jammer, and I have received absolutely no response to three emails and 2 phone calls to customer service. Deplorable customer service. read more

Never deal with this company. We ordered a suit for my daughter and they shipped the wrong suit with the wrong back, size and color. It has taken forever to receive a refund after shipping it back (it took weeks just to get a return label). I have finally, after almost 3 months gotten a refund thru VISA and they are now handling the problem. Terrible service and no action. Avoid at all costs. read more

Ordered a basic suit at a very good price via the web on Sunday, they shipped Tuesday and exactly the right item arrived Wednesday. That famous big retailer with prime service doesn't do much better! So, A-ok. But Metro is a seriously disorganized operation. Late on Monday they emailed me three times in quick succession to say out of stock, then in stock, then invalid credit card! Of course they were closed by the time i called in. Didn't send a tracking number either. They have locations in Connecticut and Maryland in addition to the one close by me in Stirling, New Jersey read more

I like to shop local and am really disappointed with my experience purchasing from this online store. I never saw shipping confirmation for the order, nor could I find it on my online account, and so I sent several unanswered emails asking for an update. I ordered swim fins (a pair that are sold out most everywhere) and 3 weeks later received a substitute product that cost $50 less than what I paid and is not even the same size. There was no refund of the difference. Return shipping is out of pocket too. I'm hoping the store can remedy this super disappointing situation. read more

My faith in online retailers has been restored after my incredible experience with Metro. Long story short, local swim shop measured daughter for a tech suit, ended up being wrong size. Called Metro, spoke to Michele and discussed her recommendations for in stock options and if we could get suit next day (from NJ to Arizona). She was so patient in figuring best solution and we received the perfect suit in time for high school state meet. The icing on the cake was that the suit was an amazing price. I will purchase all suits from Metro in the future. read more

Wish I had read the reviews before I purchased through this company! The Good: I originally encountered this company at a swim meet in Attleboro, MA, and the guy manning the booth was friendly, willing to bargain, and very nice. Lots of parents bought stuff that day, and we all took the card and website home with us, based on the gregarious customer service provided at that meet. The Bad: I decided to order customized flag caps through this company and eventually after 3 months of back and forth I spoke with the owner, Mr. Wong, who was terse but helpful. He managed to get me the caps that I paid for. Eventually. The Ugly: It took more than three months and two orders of customized caps to get what I originally ordered and paid for. I received written confirmation of my order and the proper spelling of my customization right away. But the first round of caps were delivered with randomly spelled words. Their shipping and order systems are not integrated and they consistently misspell names; on my final shipping air-bill my name was STILL spelled wrong even though that was the problem with the product in the first place. The "Customer Service Manager" John was NOT helpful and did not return phone calls as promised. The front line staff was very friendly and polite, if not helpful, but it was only when John was in a meeting and the owner got involved that I got some movement on my order. Conclusion: I would NOT order through their website again and I'm quite certain they need a lot of improvement in their logistics and customer service departments. 4 bathing caps don't need to take over 3 months. The product that I received was well made; but not worth the hassle. read more

We ordered 5 tech suits for our high school team 1 week before their championship meet. Paid for express shipping, but received no updates or communication regarding the status of the order. I emailed customer service on the 3rd day and received no response. On the 4th day, after repeated calls I finally spoke to a rep who promised a call back in 10 minutes. I received no call back or update. On the morning of day 5, I spoke to a rep who assured me that my order was being shipped as we spoke and would be to me before our meet. He apologized for the delay and promised a refund of the express shipping charges. Shortly before 5pm, I received an email stating that the order had been cancelled. could not get a service rep on the phone and they have refused to return phone calls or emails. We are now 2 days before the meet with no opportunity to order suits from another vendor. I will never order again from Metro or recommend it to my teams. read more

UPDATE to the review below. Yesterday (12/27/12) my order arrived. Ahead of schedule. With the 10% discount included. And yes, the correct products. The only bothersome thing about the process: when they sent me an email confirmation of the order, they said the package could be tracked on UPS and included a link to the UPS site where you could do the tracking. I clicked the link, entered my tracking number, and it was invalid. Tried several times. I emailed customer support. They finally told me to go to USPS, not UPS. Duh. Still, that's a small thing, and assuming they are on the ball, they will fix that. I stand by my 4 star rating. ----- I placed an order on Friday last week (12/21/12) for two pair of goggles. I placed my order via phone. I did not use the web site to place my order because I was unsure if the item I wanted was actually in stock (it's a discontinued item by Speedo but Metro claims to have plenty of stock). The woman I spoke to was helpful, spent a good amount of time with me answering questions, and she appeared to be a swimmer herself, or at least knowledgeable about the product I was asking about. She took my order professionally, and told me it would not ship out on Friday because we had missed the pick up time, so it would ship Monday and take 5-7 business days. So I would likely not get it till after New Year's (which is ok with me). I also asked if she would extend a 10% discount to my order since when I called the week earlier, there was a promotion. I called to try to do the same thing, but the agent I spoke with put me on hold for about 5 minutes, and I could not wait (I was at work and had to go to a meeting). Anyway, the agent the second time around said she would extend the 10%, pending her manager's review. So, at least she tried (or so she said). Since my experience is not yet complete, I will finish this post when I receive my order. So far, my experience has been positive, so I'll give it 4 stars pending the rest of my experience. read more

I ordered a pair of pool sandals and a pair of briefs Metro online. A couple days after the order, I got an email saying that the sandals I had ordered were out of stock and that I wouldn't be getting them...even though they were in stock when I ordered which means I should have gotten them unless they just sold them to someone else for whatever reason. It just seems sketchy but I wasn't too annoyed. What's more annoying is that it's been over 7 full days and I still have received no tracking or shipping information on my pair of briefs that I ordered AND I LIVE IN NJ!! How can it possibly, even using standard shipping, take so long to deliver instate? Their management must be awful especially since a pair of racing jammers I ordered from a British triathlon site the same day has already arrived. The shipping costs were the same! I'm willing to bet I will receive a good, new Speedo product but I am still very disappointed in the service along the way to receiving only half of my original order. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I'm giving one star because I have to--not because they deserve it. I do all my shopping online and I've never written a review--even when dissatisfied, but my experience with this store has prompted me. I placed an online order and paid for express shipping--didn't happen, got item late. Phoned metro swim and gentleman graciously refunded my shipping amount. I thought all was good--wrong. Got the item and was wrong size. Phoned MS and was told they would ship out correct size right away. 4 days later I phone to check on order--"uummm, they haven't shipped yet". Next item (placed at same time as order previously mentioned). Told would arrive on specific date--didn't happen. Phoned store to inquire about this item and things continued to go down hill. When I asked to speak to manager the young lady I was speaking with hung up on me..., won't order there again. read more

Where can I start? As a head coach of a HS swim team I brought a lot of business to Metro this season and expected customer service to match. After an initial productive product design email volley I have very pleased. From there however it went downhill and FAST. 1) Was guaranteed a delivery date that they missed by a week 2) Tried to get away with a 70% markup on suits that thankfully one of our parents caught them on 3)Tried to reschedule our team fitting the day before 4) Brought the wrong order form to our fitting 5)Delivered our suits the day of our SECOND MEET and neglected to screen print our team logo onto the suit 6) Sent us poor quality swim caps with logos that start degrade AFTER ONE USAGE 7)2 weeks later they still hadn't completed our order with multiple items missing from initial delivery 8) My initial email regarding mistakes was ignored for a week 9) Never returned a single phone after initial/incomplete order was sent On the plus side, they did send us a second order of caps for free after my complaint on the caps. I would recommend them for swim caps....that is it read more

This review was first published on July 24th. For some mysterious reason, it was no longer available on Yelp by today, August 1st. So I am taking the pain to paste it back in. Dishonest seller. Never order with them again. They don't have the size 22 suit I ordered in stock, and sent me a size 16, stuck into a worn box with a label saying size 22. When I called them the 1st time, the guys had me on the phone over 20 minutes, while he check and process, why is so hard to correct a simple mistake (unless you are trying to delay and hide something). I told him we have a big meet coming up a few days. He said he needs the wrong item back before he can ship out the correct one, and kept me waiting, waiting.. I had to call a 2nd time and the lady took my phone and email and promised to check with sales and get back to me. Never did, until I call a 3rd time, a day later, when another guy told me they don't have the right item. Now it makes some sense, the delay and hiding! They wasted my time, and I have make a trip to post office to ship the wrong item back! No honest business is run this way! read more

Ordered a suit and got a confirmation but to only find out they never got the order so that was due to their poor website. I won't ever buy anything from this shop and I really hope that no one has to go through what I went through. I ordered my swim parka on-line. The next day when I checked the order status, the web page indicated that the order has been canceled. I call the 866 number and girl who answered the phone was very unhelpful. She told me that her co-worker canceled the order but she had no idea why. She told me to call back the next day since she is out of the office and she can't help me that her name is Lisa. I called back the next day and Lisa is still out of the office. Since I needed my order sooner then later, I requested that they would keep it cancel and I will order it from somewhere else. Jennifer, whom I talked to assure me that nothing has been charge to my credit card. I taught I could leave this behind me. Three days later, I received a phone message from Metro swim shop that my order would be arrive in two days. I was really upset and immediately call the customer service back. I spoke with another lady who said the system still show that my order has been cancel and she has no idea who called me five mins ago. Fast forward, a week later, I got the order in the mail. I called my credit card company and also found out that not only Metro swim shop charge $91.55 once but TWICE!!!! I called the number again and they still insist that my order still show it "canceled." After explaining many time with long time on hold, the lady name Jesse finally agree to talk to her controller. More upsetting to me is that she never apologized for their mistakes and told me that this happen quite frequently. I am expecting a call from them tomorrow and rests assure that I will let as many people as I can know never to buy anything from the Metro swim shop. read more

I wish I had read this review before ordering from them but too late now. After completing my order, two days later the item was reduced, I emailed to get the price adjusted and guess what? I ordered the four custom swim caps package from Metro as they are the only place I could find that can print my last name on a cap without having to order 50+ caps. I was told it would take about 4-6 weeks for them to be delivered. The caps were delivered about 6.5 weeks after I ordered, so no huge deal. I was surprised how good the quality was and I expect them to last awhile. My only complaint was there was not a lot of communication after I placed the order. I almost emailed them once it had been six weeks as I had heard nothing and wanted to know if everything was ok, but ended up getting a shipment confirmation shortly after. While I've had successful web orders from them in prior years, this year they are a complete DISASTER. I placed a quite simple order in mid Nov - 2 suits, 2 sets of goggles. They shipped suits, no goggles and didn't call or email with any backorder. I called them, left msgs. No reply. Eventually reached "Rachel" who gave me a story of woe re a former employee making mistakes, and promised to send them out. No goggles. 5 more interactions via email and phone with supervisor "Chris" - who promises to send them out. We agree a slightly different goggle would be okay. Days pass - only 1 pair of goggles arrives. I call him again on 12/28 -he's a bit grumpy, and more tales of woe - although he sent me an email from "support@metroswimshop.com", he doesn't actually *read* the answers to emails in that box - so my confirmation to him on 12/19 was ignored. In the email, Chris offered to refund the goggle part of the order to make up for the inconvenience - which was a good gesture - but hasn't been done yet, that I can tell. They have gone way way downhill and need to badly revamp and re-manage their entire customer service and fulfillment organization. I hate leaving a bad review, but after spending HOURS of my time to spend $ with them, I think they have had plenty of chances.
