I then started checking other groceries and her orange juice was dated January 8, and the sausages were dated two days before she ordered! I called very upset and wanted to speak with the manager who wasn't in at the time. I told the woman who answered the phone what my complaint was since she was the person my mother always dealt with and she said it wasn't her but maybe someone else in the store. Totally missing the point that the expired food should be even in the store to sell! She then told me the manager was now in and I asked to speak with her. After waiting for quite a while on hold, I can only imagine she was telling the manager what my complaint was, she returned telling me the manager was too busy to speak with me. Selling expired food to senior citizens is an issue the manager felt too busy to deal with!! I asked my mother to never shop there again for her own safety. Full disclosure, they offered to replace the food if I returned it. I refused not seeing any reason I should go out of my way and they refused to deliver a replacement. Please for your own health check the expiry dates on your food! They still never called to apologize to my mother!

This IGA - aside from being amazing in all the ways I described in my original review - seems to be setting the standard for how to properly operate under the current conditions so I wanted to share in the hopes of other grocery stores following their lead. When you arrive here, all the doors are closed except for one and when you enter that one there's a portable handwashing station like you'd see outside portopotties at a festival. So everyone is washing their hands as they enter. Then they are given a cart which has just been wiped down by the staff. Staff are also circulating wiping down the handles of fridge doors etc. Cashiers are using sanitizer between every customer and as you leave your cart is immediately wiped down again. This loving attention will save lives in our community and I really really appreciate it.

Huge selection for vegetarians, with lots of exotic vegetables. The meat selection is crazy, with aged steaks in their own fridge. Kangaroo burgers, horse meat, duck... gluten free section as well! Prices were reasonable with lots on sale. Most importantly it was clean and no loud obnoxious Quebecois music playing on the speakers, just simple instrumental jazz which kept me in the store longer and not rushing to get out. Give it a try, I think I found my new grocery store.
