The location took a bit of getting used to since it's in more of a residential neighborhood and I'm staying in the city center, but it got easier to find after the first visit. Accessibility was a little tricky at first, the fully accessible entrance with automatic doors closes about two hours earlier than the rest of the store. When I arrived the first time, the staff were incredibly kind and helped lift me and my wheelchair over the small step at the front, which I really appreciated. Once inside, the aisles are spacious, well-marked, and easy to navigate with a wheelchair. Anything that was out of reach wasn't an issue at all because the staff were very friendly and happy to help. We made it work with their English and my French, which made the experience more enjoyable. My return visit the next morning was much smoother since it was daylight and I already had a sense of layout. The staff were even friendlier the second time around. The hot food was really good--maybe not as much variety as I'm used to, but still very satisfying. The chicken wings were fresh, hot and well prepared, the potato wedges were well seasoned, large and hot! Checkout was quick and easy, with registers at both the front and back of the store. They also accept all forms of payment, which made things convenient. Overall, a really positive experience, especially because of how helpful and welcoming the staff were.

Everyone's got their local dep, and every dep has its story. Here's mine. These guys have held me…read moredown through every post-work stupor and late-night study session since moving to NDG, several of the micro-crises of city dwelling (blowing a fuse after dark, running out of dish soap, somehow getting both pilot lights extinguished) and many of my fonder memories too (house parties, barbecues in the park). The only relatively basic thing I've ever needed that they didn't have once--and I've needed some weird crap in my day--was nail polish remover, and it'd be nice, if a bit above-and-beyond, if I could get fresh fruit or some basic hot breakfast food in the morning. Certain beers are a little pricey when bought singly, but 6-, 12-, and 24-packs are all quite reasonable by NDG standards. Good looks on the little 50-cent baggies of gummi bears. Shout-out to the genial locals from the illustrious immediate vicinity of the Girouard-Sherbrooke intersection that frequent this glorious place. There's a certain strangely deep relationship I (and many other people) come to have with the local dep guys where they can tell the current state of my life just by what I'm buying that day, a relationship which they seem to enjoy as much as I do. Speaking to the average consumer, this place is a 4-star dep, and so I rate it as such. It doesn't do anything spectacularly unique that makes it immediately worthy of abandoning your local dep, but it does a great job at everything a dep is supposed to do. If, like many citizens of southeast NDG, you're fond of getting hammered in Girouard Park or one of the nearby buildings, this is your place. To me, though, it'll always be a 5. I love you, Provisions NDG.

It is a typical Provigo with ample free parking right next to it. The good thing about this grocery store is that the grocery carts are not locked in place where you need to insert a coin/deposit to remove the grocery cart and then return the grocery cart in the same area to get your coin/deposit back. I really hate it when grocery stores do this since I generally pay by credit card and sometimes when I visit grocery stores, I don't have a loonie/toonie to insert into the locking mechanism to remove a grocery cart. This Provigo has a few self check-out terminals where you can scan/pack/pay via the automated terminal which is great since I use these self check-out terminals at establishments that have them. I generally find them a lot faster or more convenient than standing in line and waiting for the cashier to ring up your items. Regardless of whether you are driving westward on St-Jacques Ouest or eastward on St-Jacques Ouest, you don't have to make any illegal turns or cross any yellow lines to go into the parking lot. It is a typical Provigo grocery store. I don't have any complaints about my recent visit there.
