He's very anxious about getting nail trims due to bad experiences and Caley was amazing. Although Skully was squirming a lot during the nail trim, all of his nails got trimmed and we even got pointers in the type of brushes to get to deal with his heavy shedding coat! I found Metro Dog Stop after the daycare my boyfriend and I had been using for his dog closed down. They made us feel super comfortable that our dog was going to be well taken care of and safe by doing a really thorough pre-screen. The attention to detail, safety, and socialization was really impressive. It was also great that we could use them as-needed. When we were calling around to other places, alot of them had contracts and packages you had to buy to use them. Plus the rates at Metro Dog Stop were really reasonable. My boyfriend only has his dog every few weeks or so, so this was perfect! They also have a really great pick-up & delivery service! We found that out once our work schedules changed and taking the dog to daycare in the morning became impossible. But they have walkers that will come get your dog and bring them to and from the daycare, which was a lifesaver! And over the summer our dog picked up kennel cough at a park, and we were worried about him not being able to go to daycare while we were at work. But they arranged for a walker to come over and do private walks with him during the day, so he still got out and had some company! The customer service is really great and they really care about the dogs. The staff have all been fantastic, our dog comes home happy & tired from playing all day when he's there, and best of all he's always super excited to go there...which is the best evidence of all that it's a great place. read more

I moved here a few years ago and have been trying to find a good groomer for my labradoodle. I had been to three different groomers before deciding to try a fourth new place in Sept - and I found Metro Dogstop! Our first groomer Diane was great, so I returned this month because the price was reasonable, service was great and my dog seemed happy with Diane. I am thrilled I did - my dog never likes going to the groomers but when I arrived today she was so happy to see Diane, ran in to say hello happily and had no issue with me leaving. I highly recommend this establishment. They take care to get to know you and your dog; I am so happy to have found a groomer I can trust and feel good about leaving my dog there for the day. Metro Dogstop has been like a second home to my dog since she was 6 months old, she's now almost 7 years old. Although I have the luxury of being able to bring my dog to work with me, some days I'm just too busy to meet her needs. It's great that I can call up on short notice and book her in for the day. Her tail wags excitedly every time we approach the front door. I also feel confident leaving her at daycare for an overnight...sometimes several overnights if friends or family are unavailable. read more

We have had the same issue that was noted in the other poor review (it seems to have been filtered now). It seems like the staff and facility cannot handle the amount of dogs they admit and they cannot properly care for all of the dogs. On a separate note, I ran into one of the dog walkers from Metro in the park on a weekend and she said that the dogs that board through the weekend are left in the building alone and someone just 'checks in on them' from time to time. I had a bad feeling right off the bat about this business but there are not many other dog daycares in the neighbourhood. I would say it's certainly worth drive for a proper facility. For me what made the difference here was not just the services provided (there are lots of dog walkers and daycares in Toronto), it was the commitment to the dog's wellness that made the difference. Other daycares I have used gave me the same story every day, that my dog was having a great time, loved daycare, etc. I noticed that he was getting bad habits like barking every time someone came to the door and rough play. When I moved to Midtown I went to Metro Dog Stop and there was a screening process. Everyone else had taken him sight unseen. They let me know that, yes he was barking at the end of the day, but they also were taking steps to break that habit. We all treat our dogs like children, would I let my child go to a daycare where they just let him yell all day? Probably not. read more

My little doxie Mulligan has been going to Metro for two years. He has very bad separation anxiety and so I was worried at first that he would not react well to being left with other people. On the contrary. Every morning I drive up he looks out the window and wags his tail anxiously. He loves his time there and for an 11 year old he is as fit as a puppy. I can't say enough positive things about Metro Dogstop and their employees. They would be getting a rating of 10 if I was able. read more

I completely agree with the last review that has since been removed. Although the majority of the staff at Metro Dogstop have always been wonderful to my dog, they unfortunately have to follow instructions given by the business owner Caley. Once I got to know how this daycare was ACTUALLY managed I immediately pulled my dog out. First off, the daycare is small. Way too small for the amount of dogs there are sometimes. The most I have known to be in there was probably 25-30. There are supposed to be 2 full time daycare attendants but sometimes one of them is on the road covering for one of the dog walkers so that leaves 1 daycare attendant to watch over 25-30 dogs at times. The office manager is also responsible for helping out the attendants. I have also witnessed during a time of staff turnover there to be only 1 attendant and if she was sick it was up to the office manager to not only handle the office but also watch over the dogs. The business owner would try to assist during morning intake but wasn't of much use with a baby in her arms. The biggest problem is that the business owner lives above the daycare and has a small child meaning the noise level has to be kept to a minimum. Any overly rambunctious dogs have to be crated for some "quiet time" or to calm down. Citronella spray collars are used for dogs that bark and in extreme cases muzzles. It is horrifying to know that in one of the previous reviews a client's dog's mouth was tied shut to prevent him from barking. Dogs are dogs...they bark, they get rambunctious and they play. I understand that excessive noise is not acceptable from any business but I feel that the measures taken are extreme and there seems to be a ZERO tolerance for noise and overly rambunctious activity. So if your dog is a barker or likes to rough house this is NOT the place for him/her. The owner makes everything seem like it's all positive behaviour modification or positive reinforcement but I send my dog to daycare to have fun and not to be reprimanded for acting like a dog. Caley claims to know a lot about dogs but how can a "dog expert" have one of the most horribly behaved dogs I've ever scene. The dog barks and howls uncontrollably and clients other than myself have witnessed it charge and snarl through the glass door that separates the owner's home from the business at other dogs passing through the hallway at intake time. To me, the business owner just rubs me the wrong way. Her not so genuine approach and sometimes snarky attitude would constitute as less than average customer service skills. Being a resident of the Leaside community, I have met other people that feel the same way. All the clients and all the dogs are just business to her. In conclusion, the majority of the staff were great to my dog. My dog absolutely loved the office manager(Brina I believe was her name) and Lauren the daycare attendant. They genuinely love dogs and are there for the right reasons. As mentioned before, if your dog tends to bark or is overly active this is not the place for you. I can't comprehend why someone who can't tolerate noise would live above a dog daycare. If you want your dog crated you may as well leave them at home. This daycare needs more staff to dogs, less dogs per square foot and to let dogs be dogs. I hope you find this review helpful in choosing the right place to take your dog. read more

First of all, I highly recommend people take their puppies to doggy daycare if they don't have the means to help their puppies release their energy (some dogs need it) because of work commitments or space limitations. It's also a great way to get them socialized with other dogs. So from a daycare purpose standpoint, can't say anything badly about Metro. But here's where my strictly biased, negative review comes in because it always is when it happens to your dog. The staff loved our dog when he was at Metro Dogstop. They said he welcomed all new dogs and played the entire day and was a joy to have for the year and a half he was there. You could see it when they welcomed him in each day. In fact, I think the day staff (Bryna and Lauren) are fantastic. The problems came at the end of the day when his buddies would leave. Our dog would see his pack members go (what? Dogs are pack animals? Shocking!) and his separation anxiety got the better of him and the whining and barking started. Caley, the owner, indicated that his barking at the end of the day (around a half hour to 45 minutes before I picked him up) was grating to her and that she felt that this was also causing issues with customer retention. She basically said it was embarrassing when customers came to pick up their dog and heard the whining and thought she was torturing him. He's a puppy. Puppies will whine. For someone who prides herself as focusing on the mental health as well as the physical health of animals, I'd say she's not quite practicing what she preaches since clearly her main goal was to ensure she wasn't annoyed at barking noises AND that she didn't lose business (not sure she actually did an analysis on customer retention due to barking, but I'm sure she has some hard facts to back that up). What's more alarming is that she tied his mouth shut (fully disclosed to me that day, but somewhat horrifying) in order to try to quiet him down. As a heads up, if your dog is noisy at Metro, they'll first use a citronella collar on your pup, then a muzzle, then apparently if that doesn't work, they'll tie his/her mouth shut. Your training beliefs either agree or disagree with this level of escalation, but this knowledge might help you decide which daycare is best for you. So ultimately Caley hinted that this situation was not working for her . Her offer to me was to still keep our dog at daycare, but drive him back home so he doesn't have to deal with the separation anxiety (at an added cost of course) or switch to dog walking as she's concerned about his physical health (mental be damned). I chose to remove him permanently. It's Caley's prerogative as the owner to decide what dogs she wants in her establishment and it's my prerogative to not patronize her establishment anymore. I would've given Metro Dogstop a 5 star rating 6 months ago and back then had given glowing reviews and recommended the place to many dog owners. After this experience and not agreeing with Caley and her practices, I'm giving it one star with no more recommendations to people. If you have the perfect dog that A) isn't a puppy with separation anxiety or B) is debarked for some god awful reason, I'd say you would have no issues taking your dog here. From someone who has an imperfect dog (extremely rare occurrence you know, as can be seen by the positive ratings on this page), I'm taking my business elsewhere. The choice is yours. read more

From daily daycare services and walking to grooming and weekend boarding, they gave Chica the best care and an abundance of love. We never worried about Chica when she was in their care. Metro Dog stop is by far one of the best daycares in the city! My dog has been going there for 6 years and loves every minute of it- he marches right in without looking back when I drop him off. When I pick him up I usually find him in the back sitting on the staffs laps getting nothing but cuddles and love. This place will not disappoint! read more
