My friend and I decided to meet up here on a Sunday afternoon. There was a small wait when we arrived but we got seated pretty quickly. Our server provided great service!!! She came on over to take our drink orders. She explained the different mimosa flavor they offered and which ones she recommended. Well.... We got the peach mango mimosa and it was tooo sweet and had an off after taste. I didn't love it. Sips water instead! lol We both ordered chicken and waffle as our entrees. I also added a side of hash browns and my friend added a side of scrambled eggs with cheese. Excellent choices - we gobbled them up! Our food was hot, fresh and delicious!!! I really like the sweet hot sauce that goes on the fried chicken! It's ah mazing! I also loooooooove the hash browns bc they have a crispy exterior but a lovely potatoey taste. Ahhhhhhh SO GOOD! It's been awhile since I visited this location. Many years actually. I really enjoyed everything except for the mimosas.

This is definitely the place to get your eat on. The portion size for the chicken and waffles is insane. A half a chicken and a whole Belgian waffle for $17!!!!! And the chicken is fried to perfection. One of us got chicken tenders instead of the half chicken. The seasoning on both was on point. Our server, Elle, was super nice and attentive. She was so pleasant. The ambiance is definitely diner style, so bear that in mind if you are wanting something more modern. I will definitely visit again the next time I am in Birmingham.

3.5 out of 5 It has been awhile since I have ordered from a Metro Diner. There was a 50% off entree deal that I signed up for the other week and decided to use it today for a chicken and waffles curbside order. I've always loved the portion sizes at Metro Diner because I am one of those people that can eat A LOT. My waffle came with strawberry butter, syrup, crispy chicken (Breast, wing, thigh and a leg) and hot honey/syrup mixture. Don't talk to me if you're one of those individuals that must have chicken tenders instead of bone in chicken (you can sub chicken tenders though). I do remember the chicken being a lot more flavorful during prior visits to both this and other locations... unless I'm mistaken... but I'm sure I'm not mistaken at all. It was still good and had flavor, however, it required the sauce to fully enjoy it if that makes sense. Curbside - There are no designated curbside spots that I happened to see. According to staff - you park in front of the store for your orders. This seems like it could pose an inconvenience traffic wise for those driving and/or those walking to and from the store front. I could see how it is more convenient and a safer option for the staff members though.

I was extremely excited that there was a Metro Diner in Birmingham. I've visited a few in Florida, but did not they were in Alabama. This place had several great options. I usually get the shrimp and grits, but this time I tried the chicken and waffles. Their mimosas are really delicious. I chose the strawberry lemonade flavor. It gave me lemon drop vibes. Back to the food! Half a chicken came with the order. So I got a leg, thigh, breastfeeding, and a wing. And a fluffy waffle. My aunt ordered the breakfast burger and it looked yummy. I also tried the shepherd's pie. Omgeeeee, it was so good. Anytime I get a chance to eat God food at Metro Diner, I'm there.

It's a nice place for breakfast. Ordered classic Egg Benedict and it was prepared just the way I like it. Avacado toast and carrot pudding , tasty. Service was a bit slow , but understandable as they were busy. Restaurant itself has a pleasant atmosphere.

Feeling a bit nostalgic, I decided to take a 30-minute drive, only to be met with a bit of a letdown. I was hoping to find a diner, you know, a "greasy spoon" that had that old-school charm. It looked like a classic local diner, but something just didn't feel right. Having visited diners all over the country, this one just didn't quite hit the spot. Being the third person out of three adults and two kids, you'd think the place was packed, but the service was slow. I stood at the hostess stand, and a waiter kept telling her someone was waiting, while my waitress couldn't remember my drink order. American diners are a treat for travelers, especially those who are up late or heading to work early, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner no matter the time. Metro Diner seemed to fit the bill. I ordered the 2-egg breakfast plate at 3 p.m. My complete order was 2 eggs over medium, toast, hash browns, and bacon. It's my usual order at another diner closer to home. I'll say my local diner sometimes struggles with the over-medium eggs, undercooking them but they're never served them to me as scrambled. After waiting a while, it was nice to see the bacon and hash browns cooked perfectly, but served cold. Another oddity here was that every diners needed to ask for utensils. I wouldn't say my local Waffle House is the perfect example of a greasy spoon, but it's definitely the bare minimum of a diner one should aim for. Diners should be friendly and welcoming, no matter where you are or what time of day it is, with food served hot and fast. Having to drive past Waffle House, IHOP, and a bunch of other places, I'd say don't miss out on a good meal - pull into one of them instead!

This is an amazing restaurant hidden in a strip mall. First let me address the amazing sweet southern girls that are working as servers. Polite, sweet, helpful and carrying about the experience. Now on to the food which everyone wants to know about. For the appetizer we shared a plate of Poutine this is a twist on the classic style and it does work very well with a great gravy with perfectly seasoned fries and the twist deep fried cheese curds... I know it is different but it works. The Main Course we shared a 3 piece fried Chicken dinner with green beans and red mashed potatoes. The Chicken was seasoned perfectly and juicy so very juicy... the mashed red taters with brown gravy something you find only in the south. Green beans were steamed the supervisor loved them. Team member got a breakfast plate here comments this is very good. Last but not least the burger bowl he said this is the best bowl ever. Needless to say the bowl was gone in a matter of minutes. Highly recomend stopping in a strip mall to enjoy a classic style diner.

The service here was excellent. The food was tasty. I just wish they had cooked my hash browns crispy like I ordered. Other than that small thing it was a perfect meal.

The food was super good and in very great condition too. The comfortableness inside is great to have a meal alone, with a group, or even to sit and work on your laptop if needed. Even though that was all great the thing I always desire the most is Service and the service here was seriously perfect. My server was super nice and super perfect as she served me and she even kindly spoke with me. This was a great place.

Came by last night for dinner. Eric was our server. He was super friendly, always fun to talk to. He recommended the pot roast which was a special. So glad for the recommendation. It was so good!! I would definitely get it again. Portion size was big. Enjoying again for lunch today! Love Metro Diner!! I'll be back!!

In addition to this, the staff is friendly and pretty flexible on accommodations. I visited on a Wednesday morning, and there were about 7 other tables filled. In the past, when I went on a weekend, I usually had to wait around 15-20 minutes for a table, so if you are able to, I recommend visiting on a weekday. Today I got the vegan sausage, eggs, and pancake combination. It came with two eggs, two pieces of sausage, and three pancakes, which was plenty of food. I ended up bringing home my leftover pancakes, and they heated up quite nicely in the microwave when I ate them later. They also provide ramekins for different sauces and syrups if you want to bring any home, which was very nice. Our server was very kind and proactive at refilling water, checking on us, and getting the check to us quickly, especially because he knew that we had to leave relatively quickly. I also love the ambiance of The Original Pancake House. The seating, artwork, and general atmosphere provide a sense of hominess and southern charm. The seating can be a bit cramped, and I think it's better to have party sizes less than eight, otherwise you may get turned away or have to sit at separate tables. I came in with the intention of trying a vegan menu item, but I was informed by a kind man working behind the desk that he wasn't sure what they had that was vegan. He asked another employee if they had falafel at the moment, but they didn't. He was very helpful, but I was still disappointed that they didn't have falafel since I've tried it before and enjoyed it. I continued to look at the menu and finally decided on the veggie burger. The price was nine dollars and some change, which was baffling to me as I only ordered the burger and nothing else. I only had to wait a couple of minutes for my order, and I took it to go. The burger was packaged with care, large in size, and had plenty of toppings. The burger tasted good and didn't have that weird taste that some vegetarian meat patties have. I really enjoyed the bun of the burger in particular since it was really soft, not soggy, and had lots of sesame seeds. The veggie burger is a pretty good vegetarian option on their menu!

It was incredibly moist and delicious. Honestly, I could've eaten four of them without shame or hesitation. My colleagues ordered burgers and fries. They both really enjoyed their burgers, but neither cared much for the fries. They had also requested a couple additional items after the food arrived, but those items never made it to the table. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn't quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. My God, I thought fine dining had finally died, especially after covid. Current Charcoal Grill is…read morethe first restaurant I've been to in years that still understands and executes on everything that makes eating out enjoyable. The service is *excellent* with a capital "E." We ate at the bar, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about every single aspect of the restaurant. They have tried everything on the menu themselves. They can describe any one of the imported liquors up on the wall. These are real deal professionals who illustrate just how important the people in a restaurant's front truly are. The food? Delicious. It's a wild grab bag of East Asian fare - Chinese, Japanese, Thai - and it's all done extremely well. The portions are small, which is good, since you'll want to try half a dozen things on Current's very deliberately thought-out menu. The Peking Duck is some of the best I've had. The cocktails are also excellent, with my favorite being a delicious, earthy combination of coconut, lime, and pandan. It's like an extremely upscale tiki drink. I cannot recommend this place enough. Absolutely perfect. 5 stars.

We went for the "favorites" menu which a $65/person was an absolute steal. You get two starters, dumplings and cured red snapper is what was offered. Two entrees, the bo ssam and banana leaf wrapped redfish, and one dessert, the miso tart. Everything was quite good and more than enough food. The dessert was a real winner. I thought about it days after. Looking forward to going back.

Infinite amount of stars for the food but negative one star for how slow they are. So very hard to…read morerate this place. So here is the downfall. It might have been the slowest dinner I ever had in my life. I had a 7:00 PM reservation and I arrived early and sat down at 6:50. After being greeted and ordering wine I placed an order of the pork belly appetizer at 7:05. The pork belly appetizer came out at 8:00, 55 minutes after ordering. I placed the entree order at 7:30 and it came out at 8:30. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. Two three tops and a two top so not even large tables. Why on earth is it taking an hour to get out an order. I have my credit card at 8:50 and got it back at 9:15. 25 minutes to charge a card? I mean I guess you can get busy but the 4 tables here had 3 people helping with them. At no point when the server came by my table did I ever say I needed another minute. So, a 2.5+ hour dinner as a single diner was ridiculous, especially considering they were not busy. The food here was truly incredible, some of the best I've had anywhere I've traveled. I absolutely loved it. You can tell they source fresh, local ingredients daily, and that commitment clearly shines through in the quality of every dish. I started with the pork belly appetizer, which was outstanding. The cut had the perfect balance of meat and fat, expertly cooked with the fat beautifully rendered. The flavors were exceptional as well, finished with a maple glaze and paired with a sweet potato cornbread that was completely unique and memorable. For my main course, I ordered the smoked ribeye, and it was flawless. The quality was top-tier, with gorgeous marbling that truly reflected a prime cut. The smoke flavor was perfectly balanced--present but never overpowering. It had a beautiful crust, was expertly seasoned, and cooked to an ideal temperature. It honestly could not have been better. They also offered a few amuse-bouches that were equally impressive. A single bite of cherry tomato with lamb bacon was one of the best bites I've ever had. To finish, I was served a watermelon and muscadine sorbet with a St-Germain finish, an incredibly thoughtful and skillful dessert. There is an immense amount of talent in this kitchen. You will never be disappointed by the food here. My experience seemed to be overshadowed by the slow service and near the end I was so ready to just leave. However I might consider returning just for the food.

Bishop was our server and he made the overall experience so much better. Complimentary palate cleanser and opener. Located downtown so street parking or valet. Great atmosphere for date night.
