One of the worst experiences of my life. I go to another Metro Dental office for dental work, but needed to get my wisdom teeth taken out. My Osseo, MN office gave me a referral to go to the Maple Grove office to get that procedure done. However, my regular office in Osseo, MN instructed I should call ahead and give them my insurance information, that way they could give me a quote. I proceeded to do that and they came back with a quote of $400 out of pocket (they supposedly called my insurance company). I don't have a lot of extra income, but that seemed reasonable to me. The day of my surgery 5/29/15, they changed that amount to $559 once I was already at their facility. I wasn't happy about that, but I was already at the office and couldn't go back at that point. So, I signed a form stating the "customer portion due" and paid my $559. A couple of weeks later I got a form in the mail stating my insurance only picked up $684 of the total amount and I owed another $1,000. I called their office and didn't receive much help at all. I got a number for their manager and proceeded with that route. I spoke to the manager, sent him an email at HIS request and waited for a response. This conversation took place on July 17th, 2015. After a week, I called back to check on the status and had to explain to the manager who I was again. I explained the story to him again and he said "Yes, it sounds like we messed up something on our end. Let me check into it and I will get back with you". In the meantime, I called my original office and explained what had happened and they couldn't believe how off they were on their "quote". Keep in mind, this is the same company. I also have a friend that works in a dental office that works with insurance companies for a living and she couldn't believe how off they were as well. She told me and I quote "we are required to give accurate quotes. Sometimes we're off maybe $100 and it is what it is, but they messed up if they were off by $1,000". Another week passed and again, nothing from the manager. Another week passed and nothing from the manager. I left at least 4 voicemails requesting a call back. Growing impatient, I called their office and asked to speak with the manager. I was told he was busy and that they would take my message and send him an email. Another day passed with no word. I called the office again and spoke to the same person, who said they sent him an email and he replied he would get back with me. That never happened. Finally, almost a full month after our second conversation, I got a call back today, 8/19/15. He said the best he could do was take another $500 of the cost. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate it, but at the end of the day this was not my fault. The manager kept stating "they try to give fair and accurate quotes". At the end of the day, if I was given an "accurate" quote, I never would have done the surgery, cause I know I can't afford it at this point in my life. I have been using Metro Dentalcare for the last 6-8 years and typically have had good experiences. I really like going to the Osseo location, but this left a very sour taste in my mouth. I hung up with the manager and immediately called my Osseo location to cancel my next appointment. Unfortunately, I will be looking for a new dentist. read more
