I have been a member of Metro Credit Union in Framingham for several years, and I want to recognize Barbara Ainsley for consistent excellence in the service that she provides. If ever there is a problem, I've been able to count on Barbara to listen to my concerns and follow up in a timely fashion to ensure everything was handled. Barbara is extremely patient, professional, knowledgeable and gives me confidence that every experience at Metro Credit Union will meet or exceed my expectations! Robert A. read more

What a terrible bank. Horrid. They always find ways to block me from my money. They are taking 60 or 90 days to review a $48 charge which is actually fraudulent. They keep me away from my actual earnings saying it's fraud when I try to use my card and in the fraudulent transactions they keep me away from the legitimate refund. If it wasn't for Barbara I would have left years ago. I finally took the plunge. I am switching banks. I am ecstatic. No, don't bother writing a reply. The time to have cared is when I was still a customer. Don't do it for the show either. NONE OF YOU CARES. (except Barbara) read more

Barbara, Dan, TJ and Nana are by far the best staff at the Framingham branch. Very attentive to the members and the member's specific needs. Always go above and beyond to be sure all members are served in a professional way. They get to know all the members who visit the branch and address them by name. read more

Customer service, online banking and customer service phone are basically non existent. They must be closing soon or know they're being bought out, it's insane in 2025 to find every task impossible to accomplish with this bank. read more

sitting here on hold for 49 minutes just to get a lease payoff to try and help one of your members. what a disgrace.

Worst bank and customer service I've ever experienced. You can't even call branches directly you talk to someone at a call center that knows nothing about banking. So weird. read more

I have been a customer with this establishment for many years and have been very pleased with the service but today was very disappointing. I needed to go inside for what should have been a quick withdrawal and ended up leaving after waiting in a line of 4 people which doesn't sound like much but the Only teller was trying her best to help the customers at the drive up window as well as the customers in-line. After standing inline and listening to the Only teller and the customer at the drive up window discussing the reason why his transaction wasn't working and the 4 people in front of me holding large yellow envelopes I left but not before asking someone working in one of the offices if they could help out. I was nicely told that's she is all they had. Maybe next time there is a shortage of help close the outside window so that the staff in the offices maybe could have helped the Only teller read more

Basically no customer service reps at this branch. To open a time sensitive account is impossible. Staffing only can do teller work unless they are a manger. The manager only takes appointments and takes weeks for an available time. Opening an account takes 45 minutes in their system. Yikes! read more

MCU was recommended to me for a Mass Saves home heating loan. I was told by numerous people that I could apply online and go there and pick up the check. I applied and provided all the information. The contractor was at my house installing the equipment , so I drove to Metro and after 20 minutes was told my loan was denied. I called Mass Save and was directed to another company for my loan. I applied on a Friday, approved and had a check in hand on Tuesday. On Monday, I got an email from the associate at Metro and was told my Metro loan was approved. The Metro associate said she was on vacation the previous week and did not hand her work to anyone to follow up. I am still getting welcome to MCU emails even though I declined the loan. Very unprofessional handling, horrible customer service and no one picks up the phone! Not to mention I now have an extra inquiry on my 800+ credit score. I recommend Capital Good Fund . read more

Ebill payments may take too long to process. It can take 2-3 weeks to process a payment to a small company or to a city's tax collector. I've had to go back to writing checks while I shop around for a new bank. read more

As much as I love credit unions and the better service I generally find there, I can never get a hold of the branch managers at Metro's Framingham location, mainly Dan. I had a task that required a manager. But it's been incredibly difficult to get one on a call or in person. This past winter, I called once a day for a week straight and got voicemail every time. I tried calling at opening hour, tried at lunch, tried different times hoping for a sweet spot. No luck, no callback. I tried email, in case that was easier. I understand what it's like to always be caught in meetings, so I figured asynchronous communication might be more fruitful. No reply. Tried calling again in the spring. Now the voicemail changed to a vacation responder. That's fine, vacation is normal and good. I asked at the branch if there was another branch manager I could talk to until Dan came back, and they said no. Giving up on calls, I decided to drive to the branch on a Saturday and find a manager in person. I figured I had a really good chance. Turns out the manager was on lunch break at 12pm, and there was already a customer waiting for him to apply for a loan. The teller told me it would take a while to assist that next customer, and the branch closed at 1pm, so I might not get a chance to see him today. So that sucked. Drove twenty minutes to be told to come back another day. And a lunch break... an hour before the branch closes for the day. (Why not wait until 1?) With no second manager available. On a Saturday. Anyway, I'm fine with everything else Metro provides, but I wish it wasn't so hard to get a hold of a manager or an associate. This is the only serious qualm I have about this place. read more

I'm in the middle of getting a loan and when i call in to the bank they ask me If i wanted the added credit protection. i couldnt make up my mind within 2 minutes i was hoping the person on the phone would give me more information about this added protection. So the loan person im speaking to tells me that they can no longer talk to me about this loan and that i need to call back tomorrow. It was less then 2 minutes that i couldn't make up my mind . I found that to be very rude and not the best way to handle business. Now its one day longer that i will have to wait to get this loan to fix my heat and hot water read more

I am a 30 year customer of Metro credit Union... I found them after shopping around as a new college graduate after learning all of the benefits of working with the credit union over a bank as credit unions are they are for their customers versus banks were only there for their stock holders. Metro credit union has met most of my financial needs over the years although I have not found them to be competitive in their mortgage products I have had a number of car loans over the years credit lines checking savings accounts have utilize their bank by phone and now their apps and found them to be excellent overall I highly recommend them. read more

No one answers their one phone number - been trying for two hours this time. On hold for over a half hour 3 times already- livid! They apparently are not open for business - go elsewhere. I will never use them again and will delete them as soon as I can! No way to email easily either just the CEO that also does not respond! read more

When I bought my car the car dealer said I would get a discount if I opened an account with Metro Credit Union. I went and opened an account with $200 and asked "Are there any fees with this account?" I think this is a simple question and the women told me no there are NO fees with the type of account. I asked this question twice. I left the money in the account for 6 or so months and was thinking of transferring more money into the account and then noticed my balance was something like $100. I'm like thinking what the heck happened? Apparently there is a $12 per month inactivity fee after 3 months that I was not told about. I called to complain and they gave me some money back but think they should have told me this up front. Because "hello" an inactivity fee is a fee. This happened 2 years ago but I am still holding a little bit of a grudge - sorry. They should have refunded the full amount or have told me about this up front. read more

Worst bank ever. Better hope your bank card information isn't stolen. They have a whole process set up to prevent you from making a timely and effective complaint. read more

Been a member for 15+ years. I was a little shocked at the low yelp score. Let me say this... 1. Metro was the only bank to offer me a "low mortgage". I purchased the lowest cost condo in Framingham and no one wanted to even consider giving me a loan based on my credit score for such a low amount. (Loan was $50K and I have a credit score of about 780). Every bank wanted to charge me two points or more if I went with them!!! And in 2008, I purchased another super low cost condo again, not one bank wanted to touch me cause the amount was so low. Metro was AMAZING, they gave me market rate based on putting down 25%, and I got super good rates. 2. Metro is the ONLY place that I know that post the mortgage rates. There rates may not be the best but are up there (one of the best). Basically, Metro is the first place I look to see what the rates are and when you shop around if someone tells you the rates are more you know you are being ripped off. 3. HELOC, I have a $30K HELOC with metro. Other banks do not want to touch me with such a low amount and if they did, just like the mortgage they want to charge me a higher HELOC percentage (like Prime plus 1%???). Not only did Metro service me but they have AMAZING RATES (I think the best rates in America!!!). The rates are not as good as a few years ago, I am at .75 below prime (today it is .5% below prime) BUT they have been continually offering a teaser rate for a year at a time and then it reverts back to your original contact. I recently just locked in $30K at 3.99% and for the last two years I was able to lock in at 1.99% (this amount is UNHEARD OF!!!). My coworkers who use other banks would have saved TENS OF THOUSANDS of interest if they would have been able to take advantage of the teaser rates that Metro has been offering. I take my HELOC ($30K) and pop it to my mortgage and then every month I try to pay back my HELOC, been doing this for like 5 years 4. If you do direct deposit (I do $5.00 a week) and you set up a "rewards saving account" they now give you 2% interest on your first $3k, this use to be at 4% but it is still one of the best out there. 5. OK, Metro is not ALL good. I find they are not competitive with a money market account. I get 1.75% but you need to have $10k in the account and you need to have at least $2k in the account not to be charged a monthly fee (I think it is $10). I have had $2k in the account for years.... Still paying off mortgages. Thinking of closing this account. You can get a rate of when you can get 2.3% without having to put in so much money at other places. 6. OK, Metro is not ALL good. They have made multiple mistakes in the past. They made a mistake with one of my mortgages (in my favor), they called me 5 years later and asked me to sign something... I said no. I have my HELOC being paid monthly automatically (interest only), because of the teaser rates... when it reverted back to my original contract I was getting the interest taken out twice a month... they realized that they set it up incorrectly (was still taking a deduction on the 15th with the old teaser rate and then they took a deduction because how it is now set up... ), it caused me no harm (paid an extra $30 twice and it just went to principle. But it took two months of errors before they fixed it... when I first called they said, sorry and it should not happen again... next month it happened again. 7. OK, Metro is not ALL good. I would not use them for financial services. I would (and I do) invest in index funds (S&P or Nasdaq or Dow). Overall, I don't know of a better bank. I also have an account with Santander and Bank of America (with Merrill Edge account). Really, I should close my Santander account but I have it set up to pay all my bills, they use to offer $20.00 a month if you had direct deposit and paid two bills, they got rid of this and I still use them. I also use Bank of America, they have some advantages too, such as being attached to Merrill Edge so I can invest in my index funds at a cheap cost. I also have a small business and I find using Bank of America seems to help a little with being able to receive money from people (but I also use Venmo). Metro has allowed me to move up financially in life by giving me a chance at low mortgages at current rates. They have also made the HELOC very attractive. I don't know if you noticed but I am a saver not a spender, I currently have a 800+ credit score. My advice is to pay your bills on time and stay out of debt. I hope you liked my honest review. read more

Terrific bank. I have been a member for many years. The ease of online bill pay is great! Takes minutes to pay bills once set up.Their banking pages are very organized and one is easily able to peruse the different areas such as the main page, bill pay, and accounts. When you use an atm at another bank, you get your service fee paid back to you. The credit card dept.contacts you if there is credit card fraud with your account. All good, glad I use them for my banking needs. read more

Love this Credit Union. I have been a member for 7 years at least. I have never had any issues, and would recommend to anyone.

Pros: No line Cons: Customer Service rude and unprofessional Wasn't greeted, thanked for business, or given a farewell. Bank announced out loud how much I was taking out of my accounts (security risk) and hand wrote my balance on a receipt. Account postings are inaccurate and lags. read more

Literally the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I used metro for an auto loan since they offered the lowest rate. However, they are making it extremely difficult to pay the bills (you would think the opposite right?). I've tried to set up online banking but the account number from my bill does not match their records. I tried calling but they gave me the wrong account information. I'm just going to pay the loan in full because this is ridiculous! read more
