The equipment was free then they started charging for it out of the blue. The payment was being taken out of checking then they switched to debit card for an additional charge. Cancelling is a nightmare. Not a single customer service rep or retention specialist reads from the same script. The last straw was yet another rate hike. Chat, phone, nothing mattered. The offered to lower the new bill by five dollars for the same poor service, which I was never credited for even once. When I started the cancellation process everything got even worse. Outright lies. I was told I was going to cancel service with my new ISP and continue with them. Even after cancellation they wrote and called two days in a row trying to get me to accept a new deal that was never offered until cancellation. And those offers didn't match from one retention specialist (sickening job title) to the next. Now they're trying to steal another payment from me. I've reported it to my bank. You cannot reach a human being at Astound who will look at what happened and refund the charge. It's as though if they treated a customer well and did the right thing they've been told they would be fired immediately. I supposedly only owe them another $60. Refund or rescind that and leave me alone. No. They are dead set on screwing me at least one final time. The bank is going to issue a new debit card if they try this again next month. Hopefully the bank can handle this for me before it comes to that.

Communications were okay but far from great. The response times were mostly the same day but other times it may take a few days. The area of concern was that we went to cancel the agreement we gave verbal notice 18 months prior to the expiration of the lease. We spoke again 4 months and told them we were getting bids and that they could bid as well, which they did. Thirty days before the contract was up we called them to tell them we chose a different vendor. We were told that we never gave written notice as per the contract. I was disappointed that the verbal meant nothing but I also recognize that legally they can enforce the agreement. Just be careful and read everything.
