I found my new barbershop that I will return until I leave DC. Miss Sarah Lee runs his barbershop by herself. Her attention to detail and quality of work is amazing. When you factor in the cost of a haircut is only $25! This turns into an absolutely amazing deal. She only takes cash She accepts walk-ins and has a website so you can schedule an appointment. The hours are limited, 830 to 4 Monday through Friday they are closed on the weekends. It can be a little difficult to find. It's your first time here schedule an extra few minutes to navigate the shopping plaza underneath the spy museum. Haircuts are sore, subject for me. In DC to get a semi-decent haircut it's gonna cost you at least $50 not including tip. If you go to other places like Great Clips. The price is a little less. But it's hit or miss. I used to be a Great Clips guy. But I had so much anxiety on which person would cut my hair. One time would be good other times to be terrible. At Metro Barber, Miss Lee is the only person there so you know exactly who you're gonna get. She lined up my beard as part of my hair cut. I highly recommend this place and this will be my regular spot from now on! read more

Metro Barber - Barbers Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Booking an appointment online was easy and I got a great haircut for $20. I think they are used to cutting hair of people going back to work, so they do a great job vacuuming/cleaning off hair so you can go back to the office without hair on you. I appreciated the COVID precautions - the stylist was masked and I was able to keep my mask on, she just moved the ear loops to the side when she needed to trim by my ears. read more

Great, no-frills, affordable ($20 for guys haircut). Online booking was a breeze. As others have said, I appreciated the cleanup of loose hairs throughout the haircut; never had that before. Haircut itself was great; granted, my haircut (1 on the sides, a bit of a blend, and scissors on top) is fairly simple. read more

Sarah is truly a professional when it comes to cutting my hair. I highly recommend her barbershop.

Very good, professional, fast and well-priced, Sarah is excellent and recommended for guys in DC!

One day I was in the office restroom, staring at myself in the mirror. My hair was getting too long for my liking and I decided to take a few minutes to check out this barber shop which is just down the street. There's nothing fancy about this place at all. There's no style. It's just bland. But it's a barber shop and I was feeling kind of ecstatic that this place is nearby. I thought of how convenient it is for me to just take a few minutes from work to get a haircut. I waited for around 15 minutes until it was my time. The lady kinda of stared at me and muttered something. I told her how I wanted my hair and waited. Skin on the sides, fade it in at the top and make it high and tight. She took her electric razor and made stabbing motions at my head, all serial killer like. It as if I was in a horror movie like Pyscho or something. Who cuts hair like that? After a few minutes she said she was done. I just wanted to get out of there. So I paid the $17 and tip and left. Later I went back to the mirror mirror on the wall to see if I got the fairest haircut of them all. It was all jacked up. There were small patches of uneven hair all around my head. Then I did the finger length test on the top and noticed that there was no rhyme or reason to the way it was cut. It was as if it was done by someone with epilepsy. Total waste of $17. My hair is SHORT. It's not that hard to cut. I might as well have gone to a 5th grader to get the same results. Not coming back here. read more

Yes, as others have said, this is a no-frills basic barber. No chit chat, nothing special. Sit down, get cut, move on. But I am happy enough with them. Keep your expectations low and you will be happy, too. read more

Sara does a nice job. She's consistent. Quiet. Doesn't annoy you with questions you don't want to answer. $17. Hand her a $20 and smile. read more

Well, I'm a little torn here. There were no reviews and I just wanted a cheap and quick haircut. The Korean lady who cut my hair was very nice. This is a family run operation it seems, and they've been there a long time (the decor confirms it...). She seemed to genuinely want to do a good job, though I'm not sure she was really cut out (ugh sorry) for it. Basically she just took her 1987 diesel powered trimmers and spot checked the whole way around, doing her best to trim here and there until things looked even. They weren't. I've got very fuzzy hair, and I don't think I've had a haircut without the stylist doing most of the work with scissors. Not here. I've got fairly uneven patches in several spots , and that's not really cool (I gave it a few days just to see if maybe things needed to settle out, they didn't). Also it might have been the quickest haircut I've ever had. The elderly gentleman who was leaving as I walked in looked pretty well taken care of, so your mileage may vary. I don't think I'll be going back though. Also, Cash only. Yeesh. read more

Worst haircut ever. I tried this place for the first time b/c my normal barber shop was closed due to the govt shutdown (it's inside one of the Senate office buildings). I told this lady the length I wanted and that I wanted it even on all sides. She proceeded to cut it with crazy stabbing motions instead of straight smooth motions. After she gave me the mirror I took a look and pointed out some uneven areas. She tried to fix it but each time it ended up looking worse than the time before. So I gave up, paid the 17 bucks and tip and went to another barber shop on K street to get it fixed. When I sat down at the second barber shop, the guy laughed and asked if I had tried to cut my own hair. Save your money, folks! read more

This barber shop is exactly what I was looking for. Nothing fancy, good price, the barber knows how to cut a guy's hair, uses scissors and buzzer. I was in and out fairly quickly, but the barber was meticulous in getting the job done. The guy cut my hair (not sure how many barbers work here). Great overall place! Will definitely go back. read more

To be fair, I've only been to two barbers in DC. I went to Metro Barbers on the recommendation of a friend. I was pleasantly surprised by the retro decor, smell, and style of this conveniently located barber. With minimal explanation, Sarah Lee was able to cut my hair better than most. She was meticulous in brushing excess hair off afterward and only took 20 min. To boot, the cut was only $17. I will be returning and recommending. I was able to set up my appointment online. She seems very busy so I would recommend you doing the same. read more

I think it's hard to rate certain places from just one experience. As such, I waited until I'd had three cuts from Metro Barbers before writing this review. It's weird. You'll be in the chair and the lady will seem to be doing everything in order to produce a masterful haircut, and then at the end you find your cut is the definition of mediocre. I ask for "off the ear" every time. It's never even close to being off the ear. Nothing is evenly cut. The end effect is like you had a haircut three weeks ago, not that day. I've probably had my hair cut by at least a hundred barbers/cutters in my day, and for a place that takes as long as it does, with the care that *seems* to be taking place while it's happening, it's just odd how ... not good ... the haircut winds up being. A+ for effort. Every time. C for haircut. Every time. Environment is great, clean, nice, professional. Expect everything that you would get from a pro urban barber shop, minus the good haircut. So why did I go back? First, I thought maybe she was having a bad day. Pretty sure that's not the issue, now. Second, very convenient location from where I work. Third, there are no hair cutteries close to where I live ... so ... Compared to the barber in the basement of the USDA building, Metro is a 3/5, whereas the USDA barber is a 4/5, I'd say. Also, Metro Barber is cash only. There's a Wells Fargo ATM around the corner, about 1000 feet away, but it's not utterly practical to take an extra 10 minutes to leave and come back to pay. It's not a terrible place to go. It's just not a great place, either. Nice atmosphere, mediocre cut. read more

I got my haircuts here every two or three weeks for a year while I lived in DC and was satisfied every time. The owner is a nice person and was able to match the styles I showed her on my phone, and on repeat visits, remember my preferences. As a Korean person, she also has the know-how to work with coarse Asian male hair. read more

Simple and straightforward approach. Very fast and affordable. This a barbershop experience and is not for the salon-types.

I came here 5 times and it's always been great. A fast walk in and out. They take walkins. The lady cuts my hair exactly how I want it. She uses vacuum clippers so there is no itchy hair clippings in my collar nor on my face. I don't know why the page shows 2 dollar signs because they charge less than $20. Such a great value! read more

If you are looking for a quick and simple haircut, this is the place. I usually call ahead to make sure I can get a seat and always am received within 30 minutes (usually less). This is not a stylists' shop, this is a good, honest, old-fashioned haircut -- in and out within 20 minutes. Clean, efficient, quick, and a great price for the location. Highly recommended. read more

Great place for a simple men's haircut. For $17 (plus tip it's a steal). Was in and out in under 20 and the stylist was careful to understand what I wanted. She also too a great deal of time making sure there was no leftover hair on my short after the cut. Looks like my new place to go to. Definitely leaves your hair a little uneven. Just FYI read more

I normally hate getting my haircut, cause most place are just rough and end up yanking my hair, then over charging for a horrible experience. But I get a buzz once a month from her, and it is the most pleasant haircut ever. I think it's 16 or 17 for a buzz read more

Yes, you can still get a decent haircut for $20. I used to work across the street from this shop and got quick haircuts here over lunch. There was never any problem with being a walk-in. Then I switched jobs and started working in a different part of the district. After a few bad experiences with other barber shops, I started taking the metro back to L'Enfant Plaza and getting my haircuts here again. It's worth the extra time. read more

Three strikes and they're out. 1) Barber didn't speak hardly any English. 2) Showed up at 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon and not open--nor any hours on the outside. 3) Don't take credit cards. Who the heck doesn't take credit cards in 2015 in downtown DC? read more

I decided to try the place because a friend of mine said that there was a new owner. Frankly, the reviews on Yelp had scared me away. I gave it a try anyway. Best decision that I made all that day, and several times since that day as well! First, the entrance is very clean and inviting. A good sign... Next, prepare to be surprised by the bright, clean interior. Interior deco is somewhat retro, but the service was great! The new owner is a very nice woman who actually has experience and is not afraid to take the time to do the job right. Location is convenient and parking is available if needed, but it is so close to the Metro, that driving would be totally optional. All-in-all, a great deal for a great cut. read more

Metro Barber - Metro barber Shop - A very clean and fresh entrance. Nice, bright interior. Friendly Barber who knows what she is doing!!! - Barbers Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Simple and fast hair cut and beard trim. This is a barber that gets it done quickly with no chit chat. On average 20 minutes or less. Price is reasonable. Hair and beard cut is $25 before tip. Been going for a long time...job is across the street. Stumbled into it but very happy I did. Finally, if you are looking for a salon type experience, this place is not for you. If you want quality and efficient service, this is the place. read more
