Hot Yoga Wellness Kennedy

Hot Yoga Wellness Kennedy is hot yoga studio similar to Moksha but have additional Asian element…read moreQigong implemented in some of the classes. The location is in Scarborough.. hard to find at night as it is at the side of industrial complex look alike building and even their signs are not permanent... just a banner hanging across. I was welcome in Mandarin with the receptionists.. not surprising since it is a really "chinese" area. Amenities they are quite good.. with 3 showers, 2 toilets and filtered water to refill my water bottle. There are also some mini lockers in the waiting area to lock up your valuables if you do desire! The class I took is one of those yogalates.. with first 30 minutes of standard moksha poses than then last 30 minutes more pilates movement with pilates breathing. The instructor was nice and did make the class quite enjoyable. Hot Yoga Wellness Kennedy is a decent yoga studio.. but if you looking for variety.. and you not into just heated yoga, you might need to look somewhere else...

Challenging classes, friendly instructors and well-kept facilities. Not very beginner-friendly…read more The classes are a combination of yoga, Pilates, and breathing exercises. They're challenging (I've been going for years and still need to lie down or rest in child's pose), although instructors do offer some modifications. Yoga is supposed to be for everybody, but my friend who is new to yoga felt lost in the crowd and not given accessible poses - and this was foundation flow. My other complaint is that the main room is not cleaned between classes. I know this because I've walked in many a sweat puddles barefoot as I traversed across the studio. The instructors all have something special. Jenny leads an energetic class and is supportive (I did crow pose for the first time in her class!). Cindy is a dancer and makes yoga look beautiful. May is funny and pairs Pilates movements with Top40 music. Susan is badass! Classes are non-competitive, HOT, and leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated (unless you go to Guy's Friday night class...10/10 will lie down in shavasana). Have fun!

Went for my first aerial yoga class through Groupon. Nice that they have lockers but I don't know…read morewhy they need to take your picture "for reference". This was an all levels class but it seemed like most people have been here before. The instructor just jumped right in with no intro or anything. Although it's a relatively small class of 12, I feel like you don't get help if you need it. I just felt really uncomfortable the whole time, both emotionally and physically. Emotionally because he didn't really slow down or show any modifications, he just demonstrated and has us try. The way he explained wasn't very technical either, so I wasn't sure whether I was doing it right or not. Also, I didn't like that he commented sometimes in cantonese. Just because the students are mostly Chinese doesn't mean that you should assume they understand it. Physically uncomfortable because the hammock was too high for me and it wasn't adjustable. He said that it's okay if it's too high because I'm going to invert upside down anyway. Somebody fell down and he calmly continued teaching, later asking if she was okay. Maybe it's his teaching style, but I just don't feel comfortable going to another one of his classes.

I had a really good experience at this yoga studio. They offer Hanuman Yoga, which is taught no…read morewhere else in Toronto, aerial yoga classes and some other classes. The Instructor is really helpful and he has other students and assistants in the class to help students get into the poses if you sign up for any of the All Level Classes. I took a Hanuman Yoga class which was really hard. This class uses a yoga strap, which you use to invert yourself from the ceiling and to perform all of the poses. I actually found this class a little too difficult for myself but I did appreciate all of the help from the instructor, his assistant and the other classmates. At this studio they have a few aerial yoga classes. The traditional aerial yoga class is done very high off the floor and was much more difficult than all of the other aerial yoga classes I have ever been to. I have a few more classes at this studio and am going to try the aerial yoga class, which happens on Wednesday evening since I was told it it done much closer to the ground. I think it will be more in line with the other aerial yoga classes I have done in the past. The studio also has a Hatha yoga class which is completed on the floor and if the other aerial yoga class is too difficult I might check that one out on a Sunday to see what I think of it.

I said a lot of great things about this studio but everything changed post pandemic. The…read morecleanliness of the studio is the biggest thing. The floors are never cleaned in between classes. It is wiped down, without cleaner. So throughout the day people walk into dirty floors. I got two foot infections from these dirty floors. Not only that the floors are buckling because of the intense heat, and they are never fixed. Just tape. The washrooms are hardly cleaned and having signs that forbid people from pooping is totally ridiculous and violates just basic rights. The change room and showers are never cleaned. With all of this the studio itself is just badly run. Inconsistent schedules, reduced classes on the weekend, huge overturn of instructors. It's not consistent in any way. There is also a lack of equipment for floor Pilates and the equipment always smells and is never clean. This is not a yoga studio just a business for the owner to make money and she doesn't care if you complain because "she's rich". There are many other establishments in Markham that have a better yoga community, consistent schedule and clean studios. Not worth your money. I quit because of all these reason.

The Fire and Ice session consisted of rotating through sauna, quick shower, cold plunge, then standing in front of the infrared light. The sauna was big enough for 2 people to lay down, one on each bench. If you ask the staff, they will provide you with some essential oils to put on top of the rocks to elevate the experience. The cold plunge was super cold and I only dipped my body in for a split second. The tank is big enough for 1 person to lay in, like a bath tub. The infrared light was nice as it's supposed to promote muscle relaxation and pain relief. There is also a speaker in the room which you can use to select your own music. This room is completely private and for our use only - bathing suit is optional! The float session was something new to us and I was nervous about being claustrophobic in the tank. Luckily the tank was big enough for the both of us. You can keep the door closed (but I found the humidity buildup too much which made it hard to breathe), so I left a tiny crack open. You can choose to have ambient light (around the perimeter of the pool) or the starry night above or keeping it pitch black. The staff said that an hour of sleep in the tank is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep in your bed!! The facilities were clean and the staff were kind and helpful. You can fill your water bottle up with cold reverse osmosis water or make yourself a cup of hot tea. I just wish that there is something similar in Mississauga, rather than having to drive to Markham for this experience.

The space was really great and clean. The energy enhancement was interesting - it is recommended to meditate or sleep. The girl at the front desk said people bring a book to read too which would've been nice to know ahead of time. This was my first time doing any kind of float therapy - we really enjoyed it as it was super relaxing to just let go. The tank did get hot so we cracked the door open twice to get some air. You're able to control the lights in the tank as well as the music. The fire and ice was great as well. The cold plunge was extremely cold but it was a fun challenge going between the two. The staff there were super kind and friendly. I'm so happy to have gotten to experience this and with my boyfriend made for a great date day!
