It's ridiculously clean. Stef and Seb (the owners) epitomize what you want to encounter when you walk in. There's fresh, delicious tea patiently awaiting your arrival and there's a class for just about anyone. This studio accommodates all types of levels from beginners, to intermediate and even those who just want a quality restorative class. To mix things up, there's pilates classes and one of my favs, yoga gym -- it's like yoga but on crack (anticipate exhaustion, sweatiness and the inability to move the next day). All the instructors are top notch -- assisting you in poses when you want or leaving you be when you'd prefer to just do your own thing. I highly recommend this studio to anyone in the area -- or outside (there's free parking available for the commuters); I promise you won't be disappointed. :)

Alysha's class was awesome! Really challenging, but everyone was able to work within their fitness level. I left really sweaty and feeling like I got an awesome workout. The studio is small but really nice and smells great. My only issue was that I had to pay $3 to "rent" a mat, which wasn't made clear when I made my ClassPass reservation. I think studios charging people to use their mats is such a money grab. But other than that, loved my experience here.

The studio is a welcome and much needed facility on our neighbourhood. Make note, the visitor parking is tricky to find as you have to go into the underground lot of an adjacent building. On the plus side, parking is free. I recommend calling first to get directions to the lot before you go. Also, it's hard to find information online about pricing. I don't blame the studio for this, as it is a franchise and this is probably a corporate rule, but you might consider calling ahead to find out the details about pricing as well. I think the management of this location is fabulous, friendly and welcoming and the classes are fun and engaging. Definitely worth checking out (and they offer a free intro class!).

Best of both worlds, HIIT was challenging with the cardio boost, while the yoga is more soothing. I love our instructor, Bronwyn's energy and there's live DJ-ing while we did our class! The music transitioned perfectly into each part of the class, from HIIT, mediation, and yoga. Yoga mats, weights and water are provided. You can even use their glasses if you forget your bottle. They also finished the session with a lavender towel for each of us to cool off. Spray bottle and sanitizer to clean our mats and equipment afterwards. With a recovering sprained ankle, I couldn't balance to do a couple of the moves. I opted to skip jumping altogether. They used to do their classes virtually and out at the park. Their time at this location may be limited so give them a try if you can make it out to this location.I booked through ClassPass. The price is competitive and better than many studios in the area.

I am torn. On the one hand, Hypnobirth was an incredibly useful tool during our labour and…read moredelivery. On the other hand, having Elle at Liberty Movement Studio as our instructor was a very negative experience. From the beginning, she tried to set a safe space by counseling us to tell people not to tell us negative birth stories, then spent large portions of each class telling us very traumatic birth stories from her doula experience. Though she advocated for a non-judgmental space, she was extremely judgmental--she shamed our co-students for eating French fries and listening to hip hop, she called circumcision "genital mutilation", and made judgmental comments about all sorts of valid decisions that pregnant women could make or not make. To make matters worse, though the textbook she gave us was excellent, she did not have a good knowledge of its contents, and often could not answer clarifying questions we asked about the things we read. Each class was 2 and a half hours long, but didn't have to be; she spent a large portion of each class on tangents that were often very upsetting. With no relevance to the course, she made disparaging remarks about victims of sexual violence and supporters of the #metoo movement, and made remarks that frankly could be considered racist (told a story in which she made fun of a Senegalese man's accent, and suggested only black people should listen to hip hop). She made us feel uncomfortable, disrespected, and upset. I would certainly recommend Hyponobirth. I would not recommend taking the class here.

It was also disappointing that my instructor(s) would socialize with each other during my paid private sessions. I did not like it that I was being charged full fees for non full-fledged instructors and did not have their full attention. The Pilates, although refreshing to learn these new and fancy exercises, was not that effective for me. I have discontinued and been more successful with help from sports experts and developing core strength with other forms of exercises. My understanding is that Stott consults with sports professionals, that it seems prudent to simply seek advice directly from sports specialists. It is also important to note that pilates instructors are certified by the same facility that trains them--It is not an independent certification.
