I was in Florence recently and obviously had to check out the viral Vivoli! There was a fairly long…read moreline when I arrived, but it moved quickly -- I only waited about 10 minutes before I placed my order. Service was quick, I wouldn't say it was overly friendly, but they did a good job. I ordered the pistachio affogato and a croissant. Sadly, I dropped the croissant on the ground because I didn't have enough hands to hold everything, so I can't say how it tasted, but it looked delicious! They have making affogatos down to a science. You hand the workers your receipt when you get up to the counter, and they make about five of them at a time and then know whose is whose. Each one takes about two minutes to prepare. The affogato was sweet and rich, I wouldn't really say there's a lot of pistachio taste to it since it's just around the rim. But I enjoyed it just the same. You will definitely be surrounded by influencers who want to take photos of themselves at the wine window outside, so just be mindful of that. I took my cup across the street and sat on a bench away from the crowd. I'm glad I tried it while I was in Florence - I don't know if I would need to go back on a return trip, but I can say I checked it off the list!

Unfortunately, i was not able to experience the knock on the small door to get my coffee. They also have tables and chairs inside. Even if they are very famous, they were able to preserve high quality coffee. I wanna come back for my 3rd coffee. Best PISTACHIO AFFOGATO so far. Just to share with you, this shop has an amazing and sweet crew. I can't stress enough how grateful we are to you today. I was in line for the coffee while my husband and toddlers are outside waiting, then the rained poured heavily. When I came out to find my husband, i found them soaking wet and were helped by staffs of Vivoli (at the back of their store). They let my family in the back, gave them towels and also offered shirts. If this is Italian culture, I love ITALY!!!!!!! They are so kind and hospitable. We will be forever GRATEFUL. And it will be a memory we will never forget! Grazie! From the bottom of our hearts!!!

Finding the delightful Cuor di Pardula flavor made me swoon. I think it translates to "Magic with Pixie Dust" or, possibly, "Cream with Ricotta" and carries a hint of zing thanks to Orange and Lemon Zest. It's real and it's spectacular. A pair of modern beloved flavors completed our three-scoop cone. The first was Matcha (Green Tea) that didn't shy away from the wonderful bitterness of green tea. A creamier and sweeter choice was classic Stracciatella (Milk gelato with chocolate shavings). Ya, it was a special Florentine gelato cone thanks to a trio of distinct and devilish flavors. But, honestly, who doesn't love Italian gelato? How could I not give five colorful heart emojis for Antica Gelateria Fiorentina. Thanks for the quick service, creamy classic flavors and one dreamy new discovery.

Super annoyed that we had to ask what the flavors were. WellX when the tags are all in Italian.... Having said that, they have some amazing unique recipes. The matcha was legit. Nothing artificial about it. My foodie teen said the ambrosia was "so complicated with its layering of flavors". (Had to ask this one too, Yogurt honey and cinammon, I think this is when he started getting annoyed with me!) you really get the cinnamon at the end, but in a good way. Dulcet de leche, cream and caffe also on point Would happily return if homey ain't working lol

I made it my…read moreintention to try as much gelato as I could in the city so when we had some down time post-lunch we thought that a little sweet would hit the spot. To be transparent, one of the things that drew me to La Strega was the name, I wanted to see what was so witchy about this gelato - and of course the positive reviews helped. The gelateria itself was lovely - soft music playing with intricate decor and a good amount of space. There were a few chairs and stools in case you wanted to sit and enjoy, though they were a little awkwardly placed. There were several flavors of gelato as expected - instead of being on display they were in tubs covered in lids. I heard that's the "proper" way to store gelato as it remains fresher, though the jury is still out for me on that one. Anyway, I got the smallest cup size where I was able to choose two flavors - so I went with the cream and the chestnut. The gelato was really good - creamy with great flavor. Service was great, and overall this was a solid gelateria - La Strega is definitely worth stopping into when in Firenze.
