And depending on what you want, it's a decent substitute. There's a handful of casinos and hotels-not on par with the luxury ones in Sin City, but respectable, for the most part. If you're into golfing, you can do that just about year-round here, since it stays warm through the winter. You may want to avoid the hottest months of the year-golfing in August can be brutal. Mesquite has a small town feel to it-talk to the locals and you'll find yourself quickly amongst the gossip of who's who and who's doing what. I get the feeling that those who have lived here a long time would prefer that things stop growing-just like most small town lifers. But by the looks of things, I don't see it slowing down any time soon.

We were greeted right away by the friendliest woman who gave us a donkey spiel & then offered to take a hilarious video of us (please watch it - it's attached to this review). The museum is equal parts informative & quirky. I loved all of the historic donkey photos & giggled at the wooden donkey figurines. I just wish I had longer to spend here so I could read every single photo caption. There's a cute little trinket section (I wish there was more - I would buy more!) & an option to donate to the museum. Donate! Keep this adorable little function alive. I will absolutely stop by again when I'm in the area. Thank you for educating my ass at the Donkey History Museum!!

I wish their pool was a little warmer but it is March so I am grateful their pool area is open. Many hotel pools are still closed! Friendly hotel front-desk people. They actually greet you entering and leaving the property. Lots of parking. Short walk to the casino and the 2 restaurants they have there. The hotel has a mini snack for purchase area with a microwave.

I drove all the way from Las Vegas and was excited to watch these balloons fly out! There is ample parking at Casablanca Resort and you can just walk across the street where the balloons are set up at. It was a little chilly so definitely bring a coat and sunglasses since it will be super bright too. BUT... the balloons didn't get to fly up! Unfortunately, weather also plays a big part too in how the balloons go up and sadly, weather did not permit for the hot air balloons to go up. But it was nice because the guy leading the announcement was very professional and allowed the hot air ballon to static or go up for a little bit to show the height and volume of these balloons which was really cool! I loved how educational everything was and how the pilots were showing how things worked and what the actual basket looked like (it's literally like how I saw it in the movies - an ACTUAL basket)! They also have a show at night as well. It was nice to see an event like this and seeing the display of colorful balloons being blown up. If you haven't ever experienced a hot air balloon festival, you definitely have to come! I will be back especially since I didn't get to see the balloons go up this time around. I don't remember seeing food or drinks at this venue so it's good to get something to eat or drink beforehand. There's a gas station nearby though for you to get things.

Several pool tables, dart boards, karaoke on Tuesdays and Fridays (we caught the Tuesday nights) Probably around 20-30 gaming machines of all types. A joined burger/pizza place next door that serves up some decent food. Not too mention some cheap drinks - $1.50 Bug light drafts for example. I think we paid $7 for 2 shots... I make no exaggeration when I say this is the worst casino I have ever visited and the worst gaming experience I have had up to this point. Upon entering I immediately felt unwelcome with the locals and staff just staring at me as if I didn't belong there no welcome or even a verbal acknowledgment. I walked up to the bar and greeted the bartender he didn't reply just stared at me and walked away. I sat at one of the bartop machines and was not offered a drink or even acknowledged. I decided to go sit at one of the machines on the floor and play there instead. A worker then approached me and asked if I had ID which was expected and I provided it she then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't have any outside drinks in the casino and to throw away my water which is ridiculous seeing as I wasn't offered any drink at all even though I was actively playing. After I threw away my water she walked away and never spoke with me again. I played a little bit more than left. As far as gaming is concerned these are the worst pay tables I have seen in any gaming bar/casino, everything returning well below 97% for video poker, there are some pay tables that return close to 90% which is so bad you may as well just play a regular slot machine. There is no players club either or any other incentive to play. After talking to locals in other places around Mesquite I heard even more horror stories about this place and how they treat new clientele. Overall a very bad experience in every category would not recommend giving this place your business, the management needs to make some serious changes if they want to continue operating otherwise I look forward to its inevitable closure and acquisition by Dotty's or another gaming operator.

After attending the Super Run Classic Car Show in downtown Henderson last weekend, I am a fan of…read morelocal events.The Super Run Classic Car Show transformed Water Street into a classic car museum filled with people. The cars included a 1923 Ford coexisting with a Chevy El Camino, a Plymouth Road Runner, 1978 Trans Am, and every classic car imaginable. Just like a good museum, the cars included information about their year and make. A good number of the cars had the hoods popped open to display the engines. The vehicle owners were there to share information. There was even a stand displaying hundreds of Match Box and Hot Wheels cars for sale. The Super Run Classic Car Show featured a few food concessions plus a beer garden. They sold corn dogs, smoothies, hot dogs, burgers, sausages, and fries. Personally I have mixed feelings about the food concessions in downtown events. My understanding is that the events are entertainment that helps stimulate the downtown economy. On Water Street so much of the downtown economy is restaurants and bars. I'd do my part by supporting the Cafe in the El Dorado, the Coffee House, and the Gold Mine Tavern because they plan to be in the community for the long run. Besides, lately I'm not too crazy over the taste of carnival food. In my reporting of the Super Clasic Car Show, what made Super Run Classic Car Show shine was that it made Water Street shine. I never saw Water Street so happening on a weekend afternoon. For a day Water Street looked like US 66 when GTOs ruled the road. A Water Street that is usually empty on a Sunday morning was animated with people. These people were supporting local businesses. From my observation, business was up on Water Street. There was even a 15 minute wait to eat in the Cafe. It also seemed that the casinos and bars were busier. When I look back on the Super Run Car Show, I think of how it made Water Street shine on a weekend afternoon When I look back on this event, I look forward to more local events.

Riders (dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs, buggies) can practice at this track or sign up for races. The track includes a desert section and a motocross section with whoops, a table top, jumps, etc. If you're an off road enthusiast, you should definitely check out this track and also look into joining a group such as MRAN (motorcycle racing association of Nevada), which hosts both desert races and Grand Prix races, as well as night series races throughout the year in southern Nevada. There are many classes included kids, women, novice, expert, etc. If interested in MRAN, message me for info on signing up. The racing and the track are kid friendly. Bring the kids out to race, practice, or watch. These events are also dog friendly :-) The track includes spectator areas so you can see the start line, grand stands, plenty of desert to set up fold out chairs, and plenty of parking. Additional perks to this track include an announcer box and a concession stand (hamburgers, chips, etc). Even on a 450 I found it was hard to hook up and flow on this track. Overwatering and crappy dirt makes for horrible conditions. Waste of a day and $30/rider.
