Deeply disappointed by the lack of basic hospitality. Their online claims of being an inclusive community with "something for everyone," our experience was the exact opposite. Despite the restaurant being largely empty, we were treated like an inconvenience. The staff seemed preoccupied with whether or not we held a membership rather than providing service to a family with two hungry kids. After being seated and then ignored for an extended period while our waiter "checked" if we were allowed to be there, we decided to leave. A truly "family-friendly" establishment knows how to accommodate newcomers. We were happy to pay for a meal, but apparently, our business wasn't "exclusive" enough for them. read more

Went in for dinner and they were out of beans. We were told it would be 10 minutes, so we waited, when we were told it would be another 10 minute wait, when we'd already waited 15 minutes. Ordered without beans and we weren't offered a discount. Very poor customer service. read more

We were finally able to dine in!! We are new and hadn't had the opportunity because Covid-19 was happening while we moved here. It's been a pleasure ordering it to pick up- but, this evening we were happy to sit on the patio while we dined! Gorgeous views of the pond and the course are your backdrop to a fantastic evening. The Mesquite Grill at the Tonto Verde Golf Club is exactly what you'd expect... elegant, quiet, with a dignified atmosphere and absolutely delicious fare presented with the chef's special touch. We were a party of three and are not Club members, but were treated as if we were. Luncheon with appetizers and dessert ran a bit over $90 for the three of us so it's pricey but totally worth it for a special treat. We had the coconut shrimp and pot stickers to start, and the warm beet and Gorgonzola cheese made a big smile on our guest's face. I chose the patty melt and hubby went with the omelet of the day. Sounds like ordinary fare but the presentation and taste were far better than I've ever tasted elsewhere. Oh, and don't forget dessert! Highly recommended. read more

To begin with, unless you live in Fountain Hills or far North Scottsdale by Ancala, Troon North or the like, this can be a little bit of a drive. The golf course itself is stunning with amazing desert views. I cant say how challenging the course is because with my game, all courses are challenging, even put put golf. Lol. The facility itself is classy and elegant with a beautiful dining facility. I caught them on an off day in the summer and the kitchen was closed at that time. The menus look awesome and they have a music line up of the groups and solo performers the target this as a venue to play. Some well known bands were on the list I saw. There is a nice driving range just as you pull through the drive. Everyone that I met here were very Professional, kind and directed me to where I needed to go. I, too wanted to say my husband and I have been huge fans and supported the restaurant and are so sorry it is now closed to the public. We clearly understood this during the early stages of Covid, and eagerly awaited it's reopening for those of us who live on the "outside of the gates". We came often for lunch and of course, dinners, holidays, special wine pairing dinners...etc. I would give it more than 5 stars, food was always wonderful, Chef Chris is a star, and the views some of the most beautiful of any venue around. We come up here a couple times a year and it's always been very peaceful and serene. The area, course and clubhouse are nice. The only drawback are the retirees on golf carts speeding in front of your car as you drive in. LOL A number of times as I approach that stop sign on Rio Tonto/ Dynamite, I've nearly hit someone. Not LOL As others have noted in their reviews, Tonto Verde and I guess Rio Verde operate on their own schedules. Things are more relaxed and laid back here. The courses are well maintained and I have never heard of anyone being rushed. read more

WOW! Where to begin... Just a lovely evening! Impressed in about as many ways as anyone could be. Good atmosphere, easy service, great food and wine (sat outside in the comfy chairs next to a heater.) Seasonal special with wine pairing was Sensational (wine braised lamb shank with Risotto). I regretted not getting a Seasonal wine pairing special and instead opted for fish and Chips with my own pairing a Riesling. Both were good but nothing like the lamb which really melted in ones mouth. I wish i were a secret Boss just to see how the Chef made that lamb. So juicy and Tender with a subtile wine flavor. Rissoto Was also out of this World. Obviously, i had a willing Partner who shared otherwise i would have simply helped myself. Irresistable! Will definitely be back for more. read more

*Do Not play this golf course* This is only the 2nd review i have ever written in my life. The Marshall completely ruined the experience for us. For 4 straight holes the marshall "harassed" us for playing slow. The 4 of us played in 4:30 minutes and everyone shot in the 80's. Not only was the marshall out of line but he was also a condescending A@@hole. There was also a review on 1/24 that says the same thing i'm saying about the marshall. read more

Terrific spot for lunch. Beautiful view of mountains, lake and golf course from outdoor patio or dining room floor to ceiling windows. Well worth the drive as the food was terrific. We were there for Sunday lunch and had an excellent beet salad, corn chowder, and Denver omelette. Very fluffy eggs with bakery quality English muffins. Beets were combo of red and yellow with avocado, walnuts, and other goodies. There is a Sunday brunch also ending at noon that we will try next time. read more

My husband and I always enjoy Mesquite Grill, located inside of the Tonto Verde Golf Club. Their customer service is always stellar; even to those of us who look, "younger" than the usual crowd. We are always treated with respect, since we've been dining there. The food is top notch; even better than food I've enjoyed around the world, like NYC. Their chef is beyond talented, and brings new and refreshing tastes to my palate. During the summer, they have great entree specials that keep us coming back. The ambiance and views are beautiful; I'd recommend their lobby or restaurant for a women's or a men's meeting as well. A favorite of ours. read more

I was recently at Tonto Verde for a Sweet 16. It was a very pretty Place. They had a buffet and the food was delicious. It was Italian style. As a first impression I would say it's a nice place for an affair. Very scenic too!! read more

Played there a couple of days ago. Not impressed to say the least. Facility is in fantastic shape for oversseding this time of year. (mid october) We showed up at 6 am for our 640 tee time. (that's plenty to get warmed up, get a cup of coffee, and use the bathroom before teeing off.) Clubhouse was empty. Ya know that xmas story when they say... "Nothing was stirring, not even a mouse?" Yea, that's what it felt like. Finally, after siiting around for 30 mins, the pro shop opens. We pay for our rounds, and get 10 mins to hit some balls. *10 mins later* We get to the tee box, no starter. Even the groundskeepers were running behind. Not a big deal, the guys were cool. With my limited spanish I was talking to one gentleman, and he was talking about how one course is down, and its a lot of work for them at the moment. I get it. They're busy, it's my day off, no big deal. The pace of play was slow, because each tee box we got to were being groomed, the tee boxes were on the side of the tee box, so we had to slow down a bit. Whos fault was that? Ours, of course. Golf course was in great shape, the views are amazing (I like Sun Ridge Canyon more, personally.) *4 hours later* Get done with the round, go inside for some food. Order drinks... 1 coke, an arnold palmer, a lemonade and a water. Server got 2 of 4 wrong. awesome! We order food, and the server says "Would you like to take care of that with a credit card or membership?" Well, in the REAL world, we wait till after our food arrives to usually pay... if you want a good tip anyways. Maybe I am in a different country it's otherwise... I answer I'll take care of it with cash. Here's his god to honest answer. "We do not accept cash." What? Last time I checked, this is America, and it's safe to accept legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve, buddy. Get the food, fries were the best part. Get the check and the 20% is automatically added. Wow. We had a party of 3... not 8 or 10, 3.... Three. no wonder there was bad service. TL-DR? The service all around needs to be stepped up if. It's too far to be treated that way. But then again, if memberships is all they want, maybe they've found their niche. Old people all around, a nd a lot of people who don't care. First time for dinner, have been twice for lunch. Through September (2016) they're offering a two for one entre special. Get a 7 oz filet and a lobster tail. Wow. A very nice place with comfortable seating and a good menu. My wife and friends were pleased with their meals. I had the clam chowder which was thick and full of clams, but my fish and chips were just ordinary. Probably a bad choice, but I was not impressed. It is expensive and they add a gratuity to your bill which I find a bit offensive. I always tip, and the amount should reflect the service. read more

During this time of year, as one would expect, golfing in Arizona can become a very expensive habit. While it may be considered a weak sister to its relative down the road, Vista Verde, the Ranch track at Tonto Verde is a great golf course for a great price. I would imagine Tonto Verde's other offering, the Peaks course, is just as good albeit a bit pricier. The Ranch was in excellent shape and has matured nicely from the overseed in October. The course is very straightforward; in fact, I cannot recall a single blind shot. Fairways were lush and the tee boxes were impeccable. The greens were in excellent shape and rolled fast but true. As others have noted, the fairways are wide and very forgiving for the higher handicap golfer. But don't be fooled: Strategically placed bunkers can and will wreak havoc on errant shots. At 7,000 yards from the tips, the course offers a wide variety of long and short par 4s and par 3s and plays for the most part as target golf. The service at Tonto Verde was very personable and attentive. As with most resort courses, the staff does all the work, from placing your bag in the desired cart to cleaning up your clubs after the round. The clubhouse is very nice and the locker rooms are well kept and clean. Rangers do show up from time to time to chart the pace of play. Verdict: Go and play the Ranch course at Tonto Verde. read more

This is a exceptional place to eat. Their Krinkle cut Sweet Potato fries are perfect! Great chicken corn chowder, Shrimp Louis, Rueben all great. The exception was the Turkey Burger which was tough and dry, the brioche bun a disappointment after having great ones. Suggest you remove that from your menu as it doesn't compare to your normal offerings. Now the Mud Pie, incredible! read more

Our group of four went on a Sunday night. We called ahead and were able to be seated right away. The staff was very accommodating as we debated whether to sit inside or outside. We chose outside, and chose wisely. It was much more peaceful than inside. The ambiance was exactly what you hope for at a county club. We ordered drinks and perused the menu. I got the prime rib beef dip sandwich, and my friends got burgers and the pork schnitzel. I requested the lemon mascarpone bacon mashed potatoes as my side, but they served me the regular. I enjoyed the potatoes, but was really looking forward to trying the specialty ones. I thought the au jus was a little too salty. I enjoy salty foods, so that's saying something. The beef dip was high quality, on a ciabatta bun. My friends both enjoyed their burgers, which were cooked to their specifications. My other friend enjoyed her schnitzel and took half of it home to enjoy the next day. We thought the service was average, nothing spectacular, but nothing to complain about. Unless you are a fan of tasteless lunch, avoid this joke of a restaurant at all costs. For the overblown cost of $45.99 (which included a $6.66 "service charge"), my wife and I got two boring sandwiches, an ice tea, a small beer and a tired fruit dish. The ice-cold shrimp and crab salad sandwich was served on an old, hard croissant while the "crispy" pork sandwich plate was thrown together with way too many garnishes of lettuce, onions, pickles and (translucent) tomato slices. Not appetizing at all. Oh, and the plain hamburger bun that the pork was served in was glistening (of grease?) Finally, the cole slaw didn't have enough dressing that might have made it palatable. All-in-all, a lousy and expensive lunch. P.S. And to top things off, I experienced headache, upset stomach and diarrhea within 24 hours of my lunch. read more

We heard about Mesquite Grill through a mailer and their 2 for 1 special for the summer. Since we don't live too far away decided to give them a try; Very impressed! We were greeted immediately and seated promptly. Our server, Justin, was fantastic! Very attentive and friendly. We both ordered the half roasted chicken, Caesar salad and coconut shrimp. All were delicious! Will definitely return.
